Responsibilities:
- Review all Residential Real Estate Contracts
- Draft and prepare all documentation pertaining to sale and purchase transactions
- Prepare mortgage documents and deal with financial institutions
- Communicate with clients, realtors, and financial institutions dealing with inquiries and requests
- Request mortgage payout statements
- Knowledge and ability to obtain title, tax, and PPSA searches
- Draft and calculate Statements of Adjustments
- Requisition mortgage funds
- Prepare documents for submission to the Land Titles Office
- Handle the receipt and disbursement of funds for transactions
- Address issues as they arise
- Complete the closing of transactions and report to clients and financial institutions
- Collaborate with staff members and complete other tasks as required
Skills & Qualifications:
- Completion of a Legal Assistant program or equivalent work experience
- Conveyancing: 3 years (required)
- 3+ years of experience as a Legal Assistant in a law firm working on residential real estate transactions
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills with the ability to multitask to meet tight deadlines
- Ability to work independently with exceptional attention to detail ensuring a high level of accuracy
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work well and thrive in a team environment
- Knowledge of SPIN, PC Law, Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel is strongly preferred
- Experience with Worldox or other electronic document management systems is an asset
