JOB OVERVIEW
Residential Support Workers are responsible for assisting in any and all aspects of daily living that are required by the resident. Support Workers will be responsible for support in the completion of daily routines, nutrition management, health management, appointment scheduling, observation and documentation of daily events and activities, medication administration and management, and housekeeping, as well as providing comfort and companionship to the residents.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Residential Support Workers will need to be comfortable with differing levels of care delivery. Residential Support Workers should expect to provide support at levels ranging from total care with a residents activities of daily living to light support and supervision.
Residential Support Workers will be expected to become competent in any and all specialized supports required for a resident.
All support delivered within this service must meet the standards legislated by the Department of Social Development.
Support Workers must keep detailed daily observation records. This practice is of the utmost importance in delivering consistent quality support to residents.
Residential Support Workers will be expected to provide support with the administration of medication. Competency in all aspects of medication administration, including detailed record-keeping and inventory, is a requirement.
Staff must take an active role in planning, implementing, and evaluating Individual Service Plans that meet residents needs.
Employees will be required to engage in ongoing training for the purposes of professional development and competency in pertinent tasks. The Mandt System, First Aid CPR/AED, Universal Healthcare Precautions, Autism Intervention and Support training are a few examples of professional development training that may become available.
Residential Support Workers will be responsible for knowing all emergency procedures (e.g. evacuation protocol).
In the event of a medical emergency, Residential Support Workers will be expected to use their first aid training to assess the situation and proceed accordingly.

Overview:
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer and the Safe Bed Program Team Leader the Residential Support Worker is responsible for supporting individuals with daily living tasks while facilitating an atmosphere of safety, independence, social interaction, and community involvement.
The Residential Support Worker will work twelve-hour shifts to facilitate 24/7 shift coverage. They will participate as a member of a team of professionals whose focus is safety, stability, and support for individuals in a mental health crisis and in immediate contact with the police. The team will include the resident/client, residential support workers, Team Lead, nursing staff (both internal and external), Counselling & Treatment Team staff, Case Manager for the Safe Bed
Program and Addiction Specialist from the Canadian Mental Health Association, Kenora Branch, community services providers and other residential staff members.
Qualifications:
Diploma in social sciences or human services an asset, High School Graduation Diploma minimum
Experience working with individuals with mental health struggles and/or demonstrated ability to work with vulnerable populations

Plan for groceries, meals, household maintenance and supplies in conjunction with other residential support staff
Ensure the completion of shift responsibilities and routines as identified in agency policy and procedures
Maintenance of client files and data files including updating of client information consistent with agency policies and procedures
Attend monthly staff meetings and educational/training opportunities as required
Documentation of all shift changes using the electronic scheduling software and follow agency policies and procedures
Participate on specific committees or working groups as assigned by the Chief Executive Officer
Provide a safe environment by ensuring adherences to Workplace Health and Safety Regulations and Policies, Infection Control Guidelines, WHIMIS and Safe Work Procedures; including but not limited to Fire, Disaster and Evacuation Plans

LOFT’s Supportive Housing Services in York Region/South Simcoe provide a variety of housing options to adults (16 years+), either within LOFT owned houses/buildings or through head lease arrangements with private landlords. We offer a range of programming that meets the level of support needs or unique challenges of specific populations. These include small group living arrangements for those requiring minimal support, individual and shared accommodations, and staffed congregate settings for individuals needing daily support. For the Safe Bed Program, the individual will participate as a member of a team of professionals whose focus is safety, stability and support for individuals who are medically stable, not a safety risk to themselves or others, and are therefore, not suitable for hospital admission or criminal detention. The Residential Support Worker will work the following shifts: twelve-hour shifts to facilitate 24/7 shift coverage, eight hour shifts in the evening to facilitate overnight shift coverage from 7:00 p.m.- 3:00 a.m. and eight hour shifts on the weekends from 11:00 a.m. - .7:00 p.m. They will participate as a member of a team of professionals whose focus is safety, stability, and support for individuals in a mental health crisis and in immediate contact with the police. - Monitor individual recovery plan/coordinated care plan compliance and changes in mental health symptoms
- Interface with community services and programs with and on behalf of residents
- Plan for groceries, meals, household maintenance and supplies in conjunction with other residential support staff
- Ensure the completion of shift responsibilities and routines as identified in agency policy and procedures
- Maintenance of client files and data files including updating of client information consistent with agency policies and procedures
- Attend monthly staff meetings and educational/training opportunities as required
- Documentation of all shift changes using the electronic scheduling software and follow agency policies and procedures
- Participate on specific committees or working groups as assigned by the Chief Executive Officer
- Provide a safe environment by ensuring adherences to Workplace Health and Safety Regulations and Policies, Infection Control Guidelines, WHIMIS and Safe Work Procedures; including but not limited to Fire, Disaster and Evacuation Plans

JHS provides 24/7 oversight and support offering transitional housing services to clients who are at risk, or currently involved in the Criminal Justice System.
As part of the Client Support Team, staff are trained to follow protocols and procedures of each residency program providing services to residents.
Casual staff are not guaranteed regularly (weekly) scheduled hours; shifts will be offered to provide coverage as needed.

Position Summary:
- This position will be responsible for the daily cleaning and sanitization of the JHS residence to meet required standards

- Follow and ensure completion of procedures and protocols to ensure safety and security of residence(s)

Job Summary Under the direction of the Manager or designate, the Resident Care Worker is responsible for providing residents with nursing assistant care and personal care and performs housekeeping duties in a residential setting.
Typical Job Duties
• Provide residents with nursing assistant care.
• Responsible for completing records on resident admission, transfer and discharge forms.
• Observe and monitor residents and their environments and report unsafe condition and behavioral, physical and cognitive changes to supervisor.
• Assist clients with activities of daily living such as feeding, lifts, transfers, bathing, skin care, oral hygiene and toileting.
