Job DescriptionAccountabilities:
- Consulting as a resource to the patient care team regarding cardio-respiratory technical and/or clinical issues
- Respiratory assessment of the adult, paediatric and neonatal patient
- Ongoing application, maintenance and calibration of cardio-respiratory support devices and monitoring equipment including advanced ventilatory modalities and ventilatory strategies
- Providing expertise in airway management
- Providing expertise in the initiation and application of O2 therapy and adjuncts
- Providing expertise in the delivery of medication by inhalation
- Consulting with other members of the multidisciplinary health care team in devising a plan of care
- Utilizes evidenced based guidelines in the practice of respiratory therapy
- Reporting workload measures and participating in quality assurance activities
- Other related duties as assigned
- Graduate of an accredited respiratory therapy program
- Member in good standing with the College of Respiratory Therapists of Ontario
- Member of CSRT and RTSO preferred
- Current BCLS, ACLS, NRP certification
- Current PALS certification preferred
- Current certification in adult intubation and adult radial arterial line insertion
- Current certification in neonatal intubation preferred
- Actively participates in continuing education
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and supportively in a multidisciplinary team
- Demonstrated excellence in interpersonal and communication skills
- Demonstrated clinical expertise, critical-thinking and problem-solving abilities

Additional Information
Hours: Currently days/nights, 12 hours shifts including weekends and statutory holidays (subject to change in accordance with operational requirements)

- Provide ongoing patient education on safe use and handling of oxygen and respiratory therapy equipment; develop and support patient centered care plans; conduct thorough respiratory assessments.
- Build and nurture positive relationships with patients, their families and other health care professionals in the circle of care.
- Determine resource and visit requirements and funding eligibility necessary to maintain the highest standard of appropriate patient care; utilize effective assessment and active listening skills virtually, by phone, and in person.

Business hours of work
- Monday - Friday 9am - 5pm
- Participation in the shared (paid) emergency on-call rotation.
To be qualified:
- Registered with the CRTO (or accredited by CSRT). GRT accepted.
- Must possess a valid, full Class G Drivers’ license with a safe driving history.
- Ongoing satisfactory vulnerable sector screening required
- Clean shaven where a respirator seals to the skin of the face or neck when the use of a N95 respirator is required during duties for worker protection.
