Our Food Safety & Compliance Specialists help our hotel, restaurant, and grocery clients ensure brand standards, food quality and friendly service for their customers.

Duties include:

  • Conduct assessments that measure conformity to established regulatory, industry, and proprietary brand standards for clients
  • Observe food prep and cooking standards to ensure food safety, health, and sanitation practices
  • Partner with clients to address root causes of assessment discrepancies and develop corrective action plans
  • Teach and coach clients how to make their workplace a safer and healthier environment for themselves and THEIR customers
  • TRAVEL UP TO 50% OF THE TIME BY CAR AND/OR PLANE, EQUIVALENT TO 10 OVERNIGHT STAYS PER MONTH.

Requirements

  • Valid FULL driver’s licence and ability to pass a MVR check
  • 1 to 5 years of food service, restaurant or grocery operations and customer service experience
  • Strong technical knowledge of food safety is preferred
  • ServSafe and/or CP-FS Certification(s) a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Hospitality Management or Science is preferred
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • DESIRE TO TRAVEL VIA CAR AND/OR PLANE UP TO 50% OF THE TIME
  • Must pass a pre-employment background screen.

What You'll Do:

What We're Looking For:

  • Minimum 7-10 years of experience in transportation safety, compliance, or risk management.
  • Proven leadership experience in a safety or compliance-focused role within the trucking industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of Canadian and U.S. transportation safety regulations (NSC, DOT, FMCSA, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of OHS regulations, environmental policies, and risk management.
  • Experience conducting audits, safety inspections, and compliance reviews.
  • Proficiency in using safety management software, ELD systems, and reporting tools.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Certifications such as Certified Director of Safety (CDS), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), or equivalent is an asset.

What do our Food Safety & Compliance Specialists do?

Our Food Safety & Compliance Specialists help our hotel, restaurant, and grocery clients ensure brand standards, food quality and friendly service for their customers. They also:

● Conduct assessments that measure conformity to established regulatory,

industry, and proprietary brand standards for clients

● Observe food prep and cooking standards to ensure food safety, health,

and sanitation practices

● Partner with clients to address root causes of assessment discrepancies

and develop corrective action plans

● Teach and coach clients how to make their workplace a safer and healthier

environment for themselves and THEIR customers

● Travel up to 50%, or 10 days per month, including some evening and

weekend work

Requirements

What do you need?

● Meet the requirements to obtain a CP-FS certification

● Highly flexible Sunday to Saturday work schedule that lets you work

around personal commitments

● Desire to travel via car and/or plane up to 50% of time

● Ability to lift 10 lbs chest high, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and

reaching

● Have excellent listening and communication skills

● Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn

● Excellent organization and time management skills

● Ability and desire to influence others with tact and skill

● Ability to provide clear and constructive feedback in a positive manner

● Thrives in an autonomous working environment

● Ability to organize and prioritize work based on urgency, efficiency and

● Safe driving record and a commitment to working safely

● Strong technical knowledge of food safety is preferred

● ServSafe and/or CP-FS Certification(s) a plus

● Must pass pre-employment background screen

● Must possess a valid driver’s license and pass motor vehicle record search

Budgeted Salary: $40,000-$46,000 Annually

From what started out as an LTL over the road and intermodal carrier, Fastfrate has grown into a diverse group comprised of multiple companies operating across Canada. This evolution allows us to offer customers a full suite of asset-based transportation including over-the-road, cross-border, intermodal LTL and TL, drayage and transload, warehousing, distribution, logistics services and final mile.

Purpose of Position:
The Safety & Compliance Supervisor is responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations of the Safety & Compliance Division, which includes leading and developing the Safety & Compliance Division.

The Supervisor provides continuous improvement in safety & compliance functions to increase operational efficiencies and is also responsible for ensuring that the Company is meeting regulatory requirements as per MTO/DOT and Insurance regulations.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Provides recommended changes to safety procedures to ensure company’s compliance with applicable legislation.
  • Conducts workplace inspections and records results; takes required actions to ensure compliance.
  • Investigates and documents workplace injuries.
  • Oversees the Company’s drug and alcohol program for drivers.
  • Oversees overall driver safety performance.
  • Reviews and ensures CVOR is correct and follow up on any unreported incidents. Ensure fleet is ready for all MTO/DOT blitz, MTO audits etc.
  • Ensures Compliance such as IFTA reporting, Yearly plate renewals, Emissions tests, and other Certificates are requested timely.
  • E-log review on hours of service, assist drivers a required, inspect and rectify and mistakes to ensure compliance with MTO/DOT.
  • Conduct periodic inspections of 3rd party carriers to ensure their fleet and drivers are compliant with MTO/DTO as per ASL standards.
  • Onboarding of new drivers of ASL policies and procedures, Dangerous Goods training.
  • Attends all Health and Safety Committee meetings on behalf of the Fleet Department.
Other Duties
  • Performs other duties as required.
Qualifications:
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in a related field.
  • Minimum five (5) years of progressive safety and compliance experience; previous supervisory experience considered to be an asset.
  • Certified Director of Safety (CDS) or Certified Safety Supervisor (CSS) considered to be an asset.
  • Prior work experience in the transportation industry is required.
  • Specific knowledge of the Canadian Occupational Health & Safety Regulations, FMCSA, MTO and Canada Labour Code Part II.
  • Knowledge of current Workplace Health and Safety issues.
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office Skills (Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook)
Required Skills:
  • Detail and deadline oriented, with the ability to effectively prioritize and multi-task in a busy environment.
  • Strong verbal communication skills, relationship building and interpersonal skills.
  • Proactive attitude, takes initiative to prevent issues, and has a bias towards action.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively and independently with individuals at various levels is required.
  • A continuous improvement focus on work.
  • Well-organized, enthusiastic, professional and a positive team member.
Working Conditions:
  • This position will be working in an office environment, using typical office equipment. This position may require occasional travel.
