About the Role

Reporting to the SVP, HSS&E within the Corporate Portfolio Management Group, the Director, HSSE will be responsible for HSS&E-related audits, investigations, due diligence activities, support to new and existing assets, and the provision of subject matter expertise and assistance with policies, procedures, and process development pertaining to HSS&E.


Key Responsibilities

Support the HSS&E onboarding of new Brookfield Renewable businesses, providing subject matter expertise to assist in the development of HSS&E policies, processes, and procedures necessary for implementation of the Brookfield Renewable HSS&E Management System;


  • Serve as subject matter expert for HSS&E program implementation with newly acquired/constructed assets;
  • Assist new operating businesses / asset managers in the performance of Asset Condition Assessments for all newly acquired assets to help ensure these assets meet Brookfield Renewable Safety standards and provide a safe working environment for employees and contractors;
  • Provide subject matter expertise for new construction projects – hydro, wind, solar, battery storage, etc. – and their preparation/initial operation;
  • Participate in HSS&E High Risk Incident investigations, HSS&E Management System Gap Analyses, and audits, as well as other HSS&E-related assessments and program monitoring activities across the business;
  • Provide operating businesses with support to help define strategies and action plans for the implementation of recommendations from Brookfield Renewable HSS&E Gap Analyses and audits;
  • Provide guidance to technical teams with regards to development of procedures and practices related to BEP HSS&E Standards, contractor management and job safety planning;
  • Assist in the collection and reporting of BEP-specific HSS&E metrics and leading / lagging indicators for use in quarterly/annual Corporate and ESG reporting;
  • Assist in the administration of contracts and IT systems used to manage the Corporate HSS&E program; Everbridge, WorldCue, International SOS, AWS, etc.
  • Assist in the development of HSS&E standards and guidelines for the safe operation of new asset classes; Battery Storage, Off-Shore Wind, Green Hydrogen, etc.


Knowledge and Experience Required

  • Minimum 10 years of Health & Safety experience in a fast paced & dynamic environment;
  • Post-secondary education in Safety Management/Sciences or related experience;
  • Certified Registered Safety Professional designation would be an asset;
  • Extensive formal training particularly in safety;
  • Knowledge of pertinent standards, laws, regulations and practices and the ability to interpret and advise line management of their applications;
  • Experience in safety system concepts including due diligence, accident investigations, etc.;
  • An in-depth understanding and familiarity with OSHA, OHSA and/or other national regulation(s) as they pertain to workplace safety;
  • Strong interpersonal, coaching and communication skills (written and verbal) with a particular strength in safety training;
  • Proficient with Microsoft applications and strong English-language writing capability, with particular experience and capability in drafting professional, succinct and clear HSS&E-related assessments and other reports for business leaders and all levels of line management.


Note: Offices continue to be central to collaboration and Brookfield’s identity. This position requires the employee to be on-site for a minimum of 4 days to perform most effectively.

Reporting to the Lead, Risk the primary responsibility of the Senior Healthcare Risk Management Specialist is to support subscribers with risk management and patient safety subject matter.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


Support subscriber experience and stewardship

  • Support subscriber stewardship (e.g. attend meetings with subscribers, build safety capacity, provide risk/safety education, support the application/spread of best practices)

  • Implement quantitative and qualitative methods to understand subscriber needs, system gaps, and incident investigation findings
  • Respond to subscribers and support with respect to subscriber queries, tools, customized claims analysis, trends analysis, meeting preparations, and attendance.


Support safety investigation and system resilience

  • Apply safety science to investigate major losses, and incidents
  • Identify systemic areas of interest from major losses and build safety capacity with subscribers
  • Identify and share learnings, and support safety collaborations (clinical, safety/risk and human factors networks, academic communities, etc.)
  • Review and analyze healthcare legal claims data to support HIROC’s safety and risk initiatives
  • Conduct focused reviews to provide subscribers (individually and collectively) and HIROC with actionable themes, trends, etc.
  • Report potential new risk/safety themes and opportunities from claims analysis


General Safety and Risk Management Functions

  • Contribute to the departments and team planning

  • Act as a resource to other departments and HIROC staff, and provide mentorship as required.
  • Respond to issues relating to risk management and patient safety matters (consulting with Claims, Insurance Operations, Senior Management, and Legal where required)

AECOM Canada is seeking a Risk Management Supervisor for a full-time position based in Mississauga.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
+ Execute complex and critical duties requiring advanced techniques and comprehensive knowledge of specialized risk management and insurance principles, with minimal supervision.
+ Develop and implement solutions to multifaceted problems in the risk management domain.
+ Serve as an advanced technical specialist in risk management and insurance, exercising independent decision-making authority.
+ Verifies that the agreed project and program Risk Management Plans are being implemented by the project teams·

**Qualifications**
**Minimum Requirements:**
+ Bachelor's degree with 6 years of related experience.

+ Recognized degree in engineering or related discipline or a combination of education, training, and experience deemed equivalent ·
+ 8 years of experience in development and implementation of risk management practices, risk identification, risk mitigation, and strategies on construction projects/programs of similar scope and size·
+ Certified Risk Management Lead (CRM) or similar designation

**Required Qualifications:**
