**Responsibilities:**
+ Lead, design, develop and implement initial and recurrent safety training programs for transportation personnel.
+ Supervise driver trainers, by establishing objectives, standards, work schedules and accountability for job performance.
+ Proactively recruit individuals to apply and train them to become School Bus Drivers
+ Provide classroom instruction and behind the wheel training of applicants and bus drivers to ensure successful completion of training and testing; recommend upgrades as necessary
+ Provide on-going training and performance evaluations for all Driver employees
+ Administer and maintain Company random drug/alcohol testing and pre-employment drug/alcohol testing program in conjunction with Corporate office.
+ Develop and conduct regularly scheduled Driver Safety Meetings.
+ Assume primary responsibility in responding to personal injury and vehicle accidents by on-scene investigation and preparing and submitting reports to the Corporate office in accordance with Company policy.
+ Investigate customer service complaints relative to safety issues and take appropriate corrective action.
+ Administer and maintain Company Safe Driver Award Program.
+ Exhibits the highest ethical best practices and personal integrity; Shares concerns about suspicious or inappropriate behavior with their supervisor or manager
**Qualifications**
+ High School diploma or equivalent. Some college preferred.
+ 3 years as a Trainer in school bus transportation industry desired
+ Supervisory experience preferred; specifically experience supervising/training a driver workforce
+ Must complete state certification program or Stock's Training Academy for school bus driver instructor. Equivalent work experience as a Trainer can be substituted as appropriate.
+ SBDI certification required; Commercial Driver's License with Passenger and School Bus Endorsements required;
+ No preventable accidents in the past 36 and acceptable driving performance in the past 36 months is required
+ Strong working knowledge of MS Office Software (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.) and transportation related software
+ Strong leadership skills and interpersonal skills
+ Strong organizational and group presentation skills
+ Well-developed multi-tasking and time management skills
+ Ability to provide direction, coaching and mentoring to employees while creating an environment that encourages and values input and feedback
+ Ability to respond to unanticipated events to ensure excellence in customer service.
+ Ability to Investigate claims and incidents of questionable conduct, accidents etc.
+ Computer literacy skills in word processing and spreadsheets

Reporting to the Occupational Health and Safety Manager within the Operations and Protective Services Division the Health and Safety Training Officer is responsible for designing, developing, and delivering comprehensive health and safety training programs across the organization and providing reports to the Health and Safety Manager. The Officer ensures that employees, contractors, and vendors are educated on workplace safety protocols, regulatory compliance, and emergency procedures. This role is key to promoting a strong safety culture within the organization by ensuring all personnel are well-equipped to prevent accidents and respond effectively to emergencies. The Officer will also be responsible for evaluating the effectiveness of training programs and making improvements as needed by auditing training and performance. Additionally, the Officer will be responsible to conduct inspections, complete all required departmental documentation and submit to WSCC.
Required Education and Experience
Minimum Level of Education/Training:
- Bachelor’s degree or College Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, Education, Training and Development, or a related field.
- Alternatively, a diploma or certification in Occupational Health and Safety with extensive training and instructional experience may be acceptable.
Minimum Level of Experience:
- 2 years of experience in developing and delivering health and safety training, preferably in a municipal, public sector, or industrial environment.
- Experience in designing and delivering both in-person and virtual training programs.
- Experience with training compliance and certification management.
- Experience in developing and implementing health and safety programs, including Standard Operating Procedures, policies and training.
Assets:
- Experience in the municipal or public sector , particularly in a training or safety-focused role.
- Proficiency in developing e-learning modules or experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS) for tracking training.
- Experience in emergency response training or crisis management training.
- Bilingual or multilingual abilities can be an asset, especially in regions with diverse populations.
Certifications:
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Occupational Health and Safety Technician (OHST), NCSO or similar certification is preferred.
- Train-the-Trainer certification or equivalent experience in instructional design.
- First Aid, CPR, AED Certification required, especially in training for emergency response.
- Additional relevant certifications in safety training, such as Instructor Certification for WHMIS or OSHA Outreach Trainer.
Additional Requirements:
- Canadian Citizenship or Landed Immigrant Status
- Clear Criminal and Vulnerable Sectors Record Check (Every 3 years by RCMP)
- The ability to communicate both written and orally in English.
Note: Equivalencies or Higher that include a combination of education and experience may be considered at the time of selecting candidates when the requisite skill attainment can be demonstrated.

This part-time hourly-based position will deliver Working at Heights instructionat our GTA locations, includingMississauga,North York, Scarborough and VaughanTraining Centresas well as other sites across the province occasionally. The role reports to the Manager, Instructor-Led Training and working hourswill be Saturdays (8am-4pm), some Sundays and the occasional weekday, if available.
As a Health & Safety Instructor yourkey responsibilitiesare:
- Delivering engaging and informative Working at Heights training to job seekers, the general public and new and current members of the construction industry
- Evaluating participants through practical skills and written evaluation
- Potentially delivering other courses such as Forklift Training, Mobile Elevated Work Platform (MEWP) Training, Confined Space Entry and Rescue and more.
- Organizing, filing and submitting digital and hard copy participant records following training
- Participating in team meetings and instructor development workshops
The right candidate will have the followingqualifications and experience:
- 3+ years experience delivering training (Working at Heights preferred, MEWP considered an asset)
- Background in construction management and/or other fall hazard-related industry
- Forklift, mobile elevated work platforms and confined space entry and rescue experience considered an asset
- Work experience or certification in occupational health & safety preferred
- Strong interest educating people on the importance and value of health & safety training
- Self-starter who is able to work independently, while also contributing to a team
- Strong presentation and adult-engagement skills
- Valid Ontarios Driver Licence - occasional travel by car for work
- Able to legally work in Canada
