Location:11446 Hwy 105, Whycocomagh, NS
Schedule: 5 days/week

Start Date: Oct 1, 2025

We are currently seeking three reliable and hardworking Sanitation Workers to join our team at the fish processing plant. This is a physically demanding role in a cool and damp environment, so applicants must be prepared and able to work independently with minimal supervision.

Core Competencies:

• Ability to work with little supervision 5 nights a week at fish processing plant. Environment is cool and damp so must be prepared.

Responsibilities

• Must be prepared to work with other team members in washdown and sanitizing of a fish processing plant.
• Remove any heavier fish waste from floor and equipment prior to cleaning.
• Equipment will then be washed down with water, then have degreaser applied, rinsed and then be sanitized.
• All chemical training to be supplied by WFN and Sani Marc(chemical supplier)
• Remove all garbage bin material inside plant.
• In addition, garbage inside the office spaces may need to be dumped.
• Some used production gear will need to be washed, dried and put away so it is ready for production the following day.
• Floors in office space need to be mopped.
• Bathrooms need to be cleaned and sanitized.

Must have own transportation.

The Role:

We are seeking seasonal Sanitation Workers to join our team.

This position is responsible for diligently sanitizing the production lines and equipment, preparing foot and hand dips, as well as general housekeeping such as, but not limited to, sweeping, mopping, garbage disposal, and general cleaning of the common areas and as well as transporting fish.

As part of the sanitation team, you will be handling and mixing cleaning chemicals; therefore, sound judgement and strict adherence to our Safe Operating Procedures (SOP) and use of Personal Protective Equipment is required.

Primary duties of this role include, but are not limited to:

· Clean work areas and sanitize equipment.

· Unload fish from fishing vessels and transport them by hand or forklift to work area in fish processing plant.

· Weigh fish and record weight and pack fish in ice

· Transport supplies, ice, and packaging materials throughout plant and storage area manually or with powered equipment

· Dump tubs of fish into hoppers.

The successful candidate will be an individual who has a strong focus to detail, works well in a high demanding, deadline driven environment as part of a team while respecting and adhering to quality control and health and safety regulations

• Monthly production bonus of up to 1.00/hour worked.
• Monthly attendance bonus of up to 1.00/hour worked.
• Further increases as per Collective Agreement.

We are currently hiring for a variety of full-time Production and Sanitation Worker position at our Brandon plant, located at 6355 Richmond Avenue East. Positions are available in a variety of departments including cut, kill, packaging, shipping and sanitation. Placement will depend on physical capabilities as determined by our Health & Safety Team.

• Participate as part of a team in order to successfully process hogs to produce fresh and frozen product.
• Assist with various tasks in the department assigned.
• Working to maintain line speeds in a fast-paced environment.
• Most positions in the Barn, Dressing, Cut and Packaging floors include assembly line work.
• Knife work and other equipment use may be required.
• Must adhere to all hygienic and food safety requirements in the plant.

• Participate as part of a team to carry out sanitation procedures and ensure cleanliness for all areas of production.
• Assist with various tasks in the department assigned.
• Working in a fast-paced environment.
• Working with high pressure washing and sanitizing equipment.
• Scissor lift operator and Jitney operator
• Must adhere to all hygienic and food safety requirements in the plant.

• Previous industrial/manufacturing/production experience in a fast-paced environment considered an asset.
• Previous experience in food manufacturing and/or meat processing considered an asset.
• Ability to work in a wide range of environmental conditions from cool to warm/wet to dry.
• Physically fit and able to lift, push, and/or pull, weight of up to 27kg (60 lbs.)
• Experience working with and committed to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) is considered an asset.
• Must be committed to safe work practices.
• Must have good communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills and be focused on continuous improvement.
