**Qualifications**
What you will bring to the role:
- Currently enrolled in a postsecondary program
- You should be an outstanding bachelor's or mathematics student in engineering, computing, or mathematical sciences. Alternatively, you could be pursuing an MSc in a quantitative field. If your field of study differs, apply: we'd like to hear why you'll be a good fit regardless.
- Analytical skills - ability to quickly analyze data to identify and visualize key insights - as evidenced by coursework, projects, or research requiring the analysis of large datasets.
- Coursework in statistics. Applied statistics and probability are the focus of the position: if you can converse about regression models, and clustering approaches, you'll be fine.
- Prior exposure to a statistical or scientific programming environment is helpful. If you don't have it, you'll become familiar while you're with us. We have a bias for open source tech, and work with the Python scientific stack, R, PowerBI, and various data pipeline tools.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills will help. You'll work with both experts in the field and business staff, so you'll find it important to be able to communicate appropriately with both as needed.

- This role is one of technical and business leadership involved with many aspects of what our team does daily. This includes involvement in building envelope design, 3rd party design review, / building envelope commissioning / construction services for both rehabilitation and new construction projects.

- Review design documents, shop drawings, and trade submittals prepared by third parties for conformance with good building practice with respect to water intrusion, air leakage, vapor diffusion, thermal performance and differential movement
- Manages preparation of contract drawings and specifications with a project team
- Undertake field review of both new construction and rehabilitation projects to confirm that the construction of the building envelope assemblies is proceeding per approved mock-ups and design document
- Prepare and review site visit reports and use this database to generate Action Lists of outstanding deficiencies and track their resolution
- Undertake field testing of selected elements of building envelope assemblies to confirm compliance with specified performance standards (primarily water infiltration and air leakage) and prepare reports outlining the results of these tests
- Investigates, advises, and solves unusual project problems by devising new approaches or applying existing criteria in innovative ways
- Interface with architects, general contractors and sub-trades
- Provides expert advice on design processes or construction methods
- Perform forensic analysis of building envelope failures
- Conduct presentations to competing interests including working with legal professionals, contractors and consultants
- Field work associated with the assessment of existing buildings and the preparation of building envelope assessment reports
- Lead and manage project teams ranging from one to five staff members. Focused on driving results on time and on budget.
- Project Management and technical lead on assigned projects. Conduct building science research and writing of technical papers and mentoring staff along the way.
- Be a visible leader in the industry by providing technical presentations and thought leadership within the larger building science community, internally at Stantec and externally.
- Review and write proposals for new work.
- Lead business development opportunities and help drive new business for the company with both internal and external clients
- Mentor and train entry level staff in both technical and non-technical skills.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Excellent computer skills with Microsoft Office

+ Proactively identify opportunities to reinforce and further develop WSP's high-performance culture with a focus on talent, quality, innovation, productivity, excellence, and business performance in pursuits.
+ Inspire, motivate, and hold the team accountable for the delivery of innovative design solutions throughout the pursuit and project stages.
+ Build strong partnerships with business leaders in other WSP sectors to foster collaboration, grow new expertise, increase work share opportunities, and drive growth.
+ Oversee risk management related to projects and pursuits, including review of contracts, fees, and proposals on large pursuits.
+ Collaborate with the team in developing, attracting, engaging, and retaining top talent while supporting the overall talent management lifecycle.
**What you'll bring to WSP:**
+ Bachelor or Graduate degree in Geo-environmental Science, Environmental Science, or Environmental Engineering.
+ Registered Professional Geoscientist (P.Geo.) or Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario. Qualified Person in Ontario per O.Reg.153/04.Active membership in relevant industry bodies.
+ Minimum 15-20 years of progressive experience in geo-environmental science or engineering, including 10+ years in senior leadership or technical director roles. Minimum 10 years of experience within the earth and environment sector in Ontario and Atlantic Canada markets, including direct involvement in or managing pursuits/proposals for environmental science and engineering services.
+ Advanced knowledge of environmental site assessment, remediation and risk assessment projects.Experience with excess soil projects and emerging contaminants.Detailed knowledge of provincial and federal regulations and guidelines relevant to the business.
+ Experience leading environmental programs and portfolios, and acting as director of multi-disciplinary projects.Experienced and detailed senior reviewer.
+ Demonstrated leadership on key projects and experience with delivering project excellence.
+ Exhibits excellence in technical and career mentoring of junior and intermediate staff.
+ Strong seller-doer capable of generating work, creating long-term relationships, and delivering long-term value to clients for WSP.

Job DescriptionABOUT THE ROLE
As a Project Manager specializing in Building Science with focus on existing buildings Restoration, Roofing and new construction Building Quality Assurance, you will be responsible for overseeing projects that enhance the structural integrity and performance of buildings. The role involves managing restoration and roofing projects, ensuring the quality assurance standards are met and implementing building science principles to optimize building performance. You will work closely with clients, contractors and cross-functional teams to deliver projects efficiently and effectively. Success in this role requires a combination of technical expertise, project management skills and keen eye for detail.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
As a member of our Building Quality Assurance team, your duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Lead and perform comprehensive reviews of architectural, structural, and building envelope design drawings and shop drawings, ensuring compliance with applicable codes, standards, and best practices.
- Conduct detailed investigations and assessments of building envelope systems, including cladding, roofing, below-grade waterproofing, and parking structures, to identify performance issues, construction deficiencies, or damage.
- Prepare technical reports, deficiency reviews, and repair recommendations for stakeholders such as builders, developers, property managers, and owners, and present findings through written documentation and client meetings.
- Guide and mentor junior staff by reviewing reports, providing technical oversight, and supporting professional development within the team.
- Support builders and developers by advising on innovative construction methods, addressing deficiencies, and assisting in resolving claims related to building performance.
- Participate in and lead proposal development efforts including scope definition, resource planning, and fee estimates in response to client RFPs.
- Actively contribute to business development through relationship building, attending industry events, identifying opportunities, and meeting with prospective clients to grow the practice.
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams and provide strategic input on project execution, quality assurance, and overall team performance and efficiency.
- Oversee the preparation of technical documentation, including specifications, building envelope rehabilitation plans, and review of equipment and assemblies in alignment with Building Code requirements.
- Perform other duties and contribute to special projects within the Building Services Group as needed.
- Bachelor of Applied Science (College or University) in Building Science, Architectural Science, Civil/Structural Engineering;
- In depth knowledge of Building Science, Construction Systems and building assemblies;
- Over 5 years of experience in residential/commercial/industrial construction and building assessments;
- P. Eng. designation or working towards obtaining would be considered an asset;
- Building Science Specialist designation an asset;
- Comprehensive knowledge of building envelope systems;
- Experience in building envelope including roofing and waterproofing;
- Experience with field or lab testing of window and railing systems would be considered an asset;
- Good knowledge of high-rise residential construction and the Tarion warranty program;
- Health & Safety training requirements in construction projects would be considered an asset;
- Excellent verbal & written Communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to find positive solutions to complex and sensitive issues;
- Excellent time management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities within a complex and growing organization;
- Proficient in MS Office Suite;
- Must have a valid G driver’s license/insurance to travel;
- Must be able to legally work in Canada at time of application.
