Key Responsibilities:
Leadership

• Oversee and provide strategic leadership to the New Product Development Manager and the Quality Team.
• Empower the team by aligning departmental goals with corporate objectives and sharing the broader business strategy.
• Develop annual department objectives that integrate category strategy, product innovation, and quality improvements.

• Guide the NPD Manager in aligning product development initiatives with category strategy and corporate goals.
• Review financial and market performance data (e.g., margin analysis, sales trends, product performance) to inform strategic decisions.
• Collaborate with Marketing to ensure effective product positioning and brand differentiation.
• Oversee the submission and maintenance of product patents and brand trademarks.

New Product Development

• Set the strategic vision for new product development, ensuring alignment with business growth objectives.
• Work closely with the NPD Manager to establish and maintain the annual product pipeline.
• Oversee high-level decision-making for NPD projects, ensuring resources are allocated effectively to achieve business objectives.
• Ensure that all products meet the highest performance and user experience standards while maintaining profitability.
• Support the NPD Manager in overcoming development challenges and ensuring milestones are met.
• Ensure all products sold internationally comply with regional safety regulations and certification requirements, including proper application of safety certifications and royalties during development.
• Evaluate and select the best suited technologies for each new product development project.
• Achieve profit margin targets for each product in development by negotiating costs and managing other costs (logistics, amortization, etc.).

Vendor Management

• Develop and maintain high-level partnerships with key suppliers, engineering firms, and manufacturing partners.
• Lead negotiations on pricing, terms, and agreements with vendors.
• Oversee vendor performance and ensure alignment with long-term business strategy.

Quality Assurance

• Set quality assurance objectives and oversee defect rates, return rates, and overall product performance.
• Collaborate with the Quality Team to drive improvements in product reliability and compliance.
• Take a hands-on approach in addressing complex quality issues and product testing when necessary.
• Oversee the development of quality control documentation and ensure effective production audits.

Other

• Develop and monitor annual department budget

Qualifications:

• University degree in Business, Marketing, Electronics Engineering, or a related field.
• 7-10 years of experience in product management, category strategy, or R&D leadership.
• 7-10 years of experience in project management and vendor relations.
• 7 years of experience in market research and competitive analysis.
• 5+ years of experience leading product development teams and managing team leaders.
• 5+ years of vendor management experience, including contract negotiations.
• 5 years demonstrated experience in consumer electronics hardware.
• Strategic thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Experience & Education:

Your RoleAs Research and Development Manager, the successful candidate will be primarily responsible for  developing formulations for wheat grists, flour ingredients, and flour blending and ensuring that they are tracked and monitored for further adjustments as needed and continuous improvement. • Perform standard bake test and analysis for various end use applications in determining and developing the most optimized and cost-effective recipes for wheat grist, flour ingredients and flour blending, as well as flour streams set-up per product at each mill.
• Collaborate and work with Quality Assurance group in the development of flour specifications.
• Analyze quality data and trending, and advise any adjustments in the formulations as required to achieve consistent quality of flour across all sites.
• Perform comparative testing, analysis, and evaluation of various flour products and end use applications.
• Oversee the planning, execution, and completion of R&D projects, ensuring that expected completion date and overall objectives are achieved.
• Manage new product development from conceptualization, testing/trials, and execution in collaboration with Sales, Operations, and Quality Assurance.
• Work with Operations and Quality Assurance in developing process methodology and procedures for new product development and formulations.

• Minimum 8 years of direct work experience in QA and R&D in flour milling environment with at least 4 years in supervisory or managerial role.
• Minimum of 5 years working experience conducting and performing grain and flour analytical testing and end - use/bake test for various applications (breads, cookies, noodles, pasta, etc.).
• In-depth knowledge of different wheat classes and flour characteristics and properties.

The Lead Research & Development Engineer drives end-to-end problem solving across algorithm development, hardware, firmware, and software systems. **Summary**
This position drives demand for Ag Innovation services and ensures customer satisfaction and positive user experiences for a predetermined territory, to help Simplot be the leader in equipment and digital technology that applies to production agriculture, to the extent that farm customers who value technology as part of their farm management want to partner with Simplot.
**Essential Duties and Responsibilities**
**_Territory Sales Lead_**
+ Work closely with sales representatives to deliver appropriate Ag Innovation solutions to farm customers in territory.
+ Work with Ag Innovation Manager and Ag Innovation Senior Lead to continue to develop, improve and refine both existing Ag Innovation services as well as research and evaluate opportunities for new service offerings in their territory
+ Work with Ag Innovation Manager and Ag Innovation Senior Lead to support promotion and training for service to farmers and sales representatives.
+ Continually increase knowledge base on Ag Innovation and industry technology.
+ Work closely with sales representatives to integrate Ag Innovation services into their annual customer plans
+ Participate in sales representatives planning meetings about key customers
+ Contribute to the sales process by ensuring sellers know the information to gather in their customer discovery process to assist in the Ag Innovation plans
+ Develop a 3-6 month action plan with support from Ag Innovation Manager
**_Field Moisture Service Support_**
+ Execute consultations, data entry and administration for Field Moisture Service with customers within territory.
+ Conduct installations, technical support, maintenance and removals of equipment for Field Moisture Service for customers within territory.
**_SprayConnect Service Support_**
+ Execute administration and preparation on SprayConnect projects for customers in territory.
+ Work with sales representatives to conduct ground truthing, prescription loading, technical support for customers in territory.
**_SoilConnect Service Support_**
+ Conduct/assist with all SoilConnect soil sampling procedures as required.
+ Conduct ground truthing, SWAT mapping and data preparation.
+ Work with sales representatives to consult and plan on SoilConnect projects for customers in territory.
+ Work with sales representative to execute prescription loading, technical support, data processing and entry for customers in territory.
+ Work with sales representative to execute on in-season agronomic evaluations (Learning Blocks) and field monitoring for customers in territory.
**_Agronomy and Sales Support_**
+ Continue to develop and grow a robust expertise in agronomy
+ Attend training sessions in the areas of agronomy and sales
+ Support both agronomy and sales functions when necessary including products and services that lie outside of Ag Innovation
+ Support any research and trialing initiatives as they pertain to Ag Innovation
**_Data and Digital Tools Support_**
+ Support the development of hardware, software, and data tools to support sales representatives as requested by Ag Innovation Manager
**_Industry Liaison_**
+ Establish and maintain strong relationships and large industry network
+ Communicate with designated representatives for manufactures and distributors
+ Learn and upgrade knowledge of new products and product updates on chemical, fertilizer, and seed as required
+ Maintain strong working knowledge of key industry people and competitors

**Qualifications & Requirements**
+ Degree or Diploma in Agriculture
+ Experience in Agronomy or Ag Retail is an asset but not required
+ Valid Class 5 Driver's License
+ Knowledge of application equipment, willing to network with experts in the industry for support (John Deere, Case IH, etc)
+ Knowledge of West Central Saskatchewan production practices

This position supports the Research & Development/ Technical Innovation department in brand maintenance, quality improvement, innovation, and productivity initiatives to help the company consistently deliver high quality food products.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Exhibit and protect Riverside's Core Values
• Collect & analyze data to baseline of current operations of existing food products. Institute new analytical tests if necessary
• Run trials in collaboration with Senior Food Scientist on different formulations or processing conditions. Determine whether the trials have been successful based on the analytics. Recommend next steps.
• Lead shelf life studies & improve existing shelf life program
• Maintain organization of the R&D lab. Keep lab stocked, tidy, and write SOPs as necessary to support good operation of the lab.
• Produce product prototypes in lab for sensory evaluation
• Work in conjunction with other R&D Scientists and Production to commercialize new equipment and products.
• Assist in R&D projects to improve productivity, quality, & consistency; engage all stakeholders throughout project
