Our Security Systems Technicians are the face of our company as the person with whom our clients will meet with most often, your success will build positive relationships with our clients.
Security Systems Technicians Overview
This is very much a hands-on position. You will be driving to customer sites to install, maintain, and update their security system hardware. Our technicians work individually and in teams, and we encourage you to support each other. Our customers' worksites span across the GTA, and you will need to begin and end each day at our Markham office.
Successful technicians will be able to:
- Communicate effectively with our customers, and manage their expectations;
- Install low voltage cable for security cameras, card access systems, and alarm systems;
- Terminate CAT5/6 cable with RJ45 and into a patch panel;
- Mount and terminate access control panels (S2, Brivo, Avigilon);
- Mount and focus IP cameras (Axis, Avigilon);
- Mount and terminate alarm panels (DSC);
- Mount network racks and wall enclosures;
- Install and terminate door strikes and card readers; and
- Read blueprints and drawings.

Key Responsibilities:- Design, develop, and maintain embedded firmware for FX-4000 modules using Quadros RTOS or similar real-time operating systems.
- Integrate and support communication protocols such as ARCNET, BACnet, RS-485 , enabling reliable inter-module and external device communication.
- Collaborate on the configuration and optimization of FX-4000 HAL, ANC-6000 , and other modular hardware components.
- Develop and maintain system-level diagnostics, annunciator mapping, and addressable loop integrations.
- Debug complex firmware and hardware issues using tools such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers , and protocol analyzers.
- Analyze and optimize system performance, timing determinism, and overall reliability across the FX-4000 architecture.
- Work with graphical monitoring tools to validate and verify system integration.
- Participate in architecture reviews and contribute to the design of scalable, modular fire alarm solutions.
- Mentor junior engineers, conduct design/code reviews, and support robust documentation and knowledge sharing.
- Ensure work is performed in compliance with ISO 9001 quality standards and company procedures.
Requirements and Skills:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering , or a related field.
- 5+ years of embedded firmware development experience , ideally in safety-critical or industrial environments.
- Proficiency in C/C++ and experience with real-time operating systems , such as Quadros RTOS, FreeRTOS, VxWorks, QNX, or similar .
- Familiarity with toolchains like Visual DSP, GNU C, STCube, and Code Composer .
- Strong understanding of the OSI model , especially application and data link layers.
- Extensive experience with communication protocols such as ARCNET, BACnet, RS-485, RS-232, SPI, and Ethernet/IP .
- Ability to interpret schematics and debug complex hardware/firmware interactions using lab instruments including oscilloscopes and logic analyzers .

Scarlet Security & Risk Group (SSRG) is seeking dedicated and experienced Security Systems Technicians to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Install and service electronic security systems, including CCTV, intrusion alarms, and access control systems
- Perform pre-wiring, installation, programming, commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance tasks
- Provide administrative support and coordinate project details and updates with office systems team members and project managers
- Schedule flexibility with the ability to work as required before or after your regularly scheduled hours, and/or on a day when you are not regularly scheduled to work
Qualifications:
- Minimum 1 year of experience in Access Control, CCTV, or Intrusion Systems
- BCIT Security Systems Program graduates are an asset
- Valid BC Security License
- Valid BC Driver's License (Class 1 through 5) with a clean driving record
- High standards for safety and security
- Experience with project planning, installation, testing, and documentation
- Excellent customer service skills
- Proficiency in computer and networking
- Experience with ULC systems is an asset
- Able to legally work in Canada, and currently residing in the country

As a Systems Designer, you will perform discovery and analysis of business and contractual requirements to define systems and sub-systems architecture and technical design packages. This position works in conjunction with Systems Designers/Engineers and the Project Management team to determine technical requirements for project work and to ensure fit and suitability of our product offering within the client environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare high level system designs in a thorough and professional manner during the pre-sales cycle. Design work may include conducting site surveys and device mark-ups, network architecture design, server loading, writing technical narratives and proposals, and preparing bills of materials
- Produce detailed design drawings and technical descriptions of physical security, other building technologies and the supporting networking, server and storage architectures in collaboration with owners and their representatives.
- Develop design documents that will guide the technical installation and configuration of systems
- Develop financial and logistics estimates, both independently and in collaboration with Paladin Technologies sales, marketing, and project management professionals
- Multi-task and manage time effectively to prioritize projects, tasks, and meetings as necessary
- Identify, establish, and document processes to support design efficiency and scalability
- Develop productive relationships with clients and key stakeholders which will build respect and confidence in the organization’s capabilities.
- Understand and maintain an awareness of the productivity and profitability of work carried out by the organization
- Pursue and maintain education and professional development of technology systems related to the technical disciplines you will lead.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- A minimum of three years of design experience in the security, low voltage or building automation industries
- A strong understanding of the physical security and/or IT industries, including an awareness of complimentary products, technologies, trends, and the general application of physical security technology
- Experience with the following technologies is required:
- Bluebeam Revu, IP networks, low voltage electronics, power and communications, Windows desktop operating system, Microsoft Office
- An understanding of and experience with fundamental concepts pertaining to IP networks, low voltage electronics, power, and communications
- A strong command of the English language supported by excellent written and verbal communication skills
- The ability to simultaneously handle multiple tasks and projects and be responsive to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Post-secondary education from an accredited college, university, or technical institution in Business, Construction Management, Electronics, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field
- Highly developed analytical and problem solving skills
- Motivated self-starter with ambition to independently research new technologies as well as engineering and business methodologies/concepts
- P.Eng, EIT, CET, or equivalent professional technical designation is preferred
- Field experience in a construction environment is an asset
