Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled IT Security Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in network security, cryptography, and secure IT architecture. Key Responsibilities:
As an IT Security Engineer, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
Security Standards & Protocols:
Review, analyze, and apply industry-standard protocols such as X.400, X.500, and SMTP to ensure compliance with best practices.
Oversee security protocols across all layers of the OSI and TCP/IP stacks, including IPSec, IPv6, SSL, and SSH.
Systems & Networking:
Manage and secure operating systems including MS, Unix, Linux, and Novell, ensuring proper hardening and security measures are in place.
Configure and secure networking protocols such as HTTP, FTP, Telnet, DNS, and NTP.
Support the design, configuration, and maintenance of network routers, multiplexers, and switches.
IT Security Analysis & Implementation:
Perform comprehensive analysis and troubleshooting of IT security tools, vulnerabilities, and threats.
Evaluate and apply security best practices, including shell scripting, service identification, access control, and network hardening.
Monitor and analyze security data, generating detailed reports, advisories, and actionable insights.
Implement IT Security solutions, preparing technical reports and implementing risk mitigation strategies.
Intrusion Detection & Prevention:
Deploy and manage intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDPS), firewalls, and other security technologies to defend against malicious code and unauthorized access.
Conduct regular security audits and provide independent verification and validation (IV&V) support for security-related projects.
Security Protocol Testing & Training:
Design, develop, and execute IT Security protocol tests, security exercises, and simulations.
Prepare and deliver training materials to internal teams on security protocols and best practices.
Contingency Planning & Documentation:
Review and assess Business Continuity Plans (BCPs), Disaster Recovery Plans (DRPs), and contingency plans for IT Security compliance.
Prepare detailed documentation, including audit reports, security assessments, and contingency plans.
Project Oversight:
Provide leadership and oversight for IT Security-related projects, ensuring timely and successful implementation.
Guide the team on security matters, providing expertise on evolving threats and best practices.
Experience Levels:
Level 1: 3-5 years of experience in IT Security.
Level 2: 5-10 years of experience in IT Security.
Level 3: 10+ years of experience in IT Security.
Skills & Qualifications:
Must Have:
5+ years of experience in IT Security Engineering.
Enhanced Reliability Security Clearance.
Proficiency with security protocols and standards, including SSL, Telnet, SSH, X.400, X.500, and S-MIME.
Strong knowledge of TCP/IP and OSI (Open Systems Interconnection) model.
Deep understanding of Domain Name System (DNS) and Network Time Protocol (NTP).
Expertise in cryptographic algorithms and security techniques.
Nice to Have:
Experience with Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) and X.509 Certificate Protocols.
Fluency in both French and English.
Experience working with emerging technologies and IT Security tools.
Certifications & Additional Skills:
Relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CEH) are a plus.
Proven industry knowledge in network security, cryptography, and intrusion detection/prevention systems.

- Valid BC Security Worker TQ certification required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Valid Driver's License.
- Postsecondary training in electronics or equivalent is considered an asset.
- Background check and security clearance.
