The Book Cost Analyst will play a pivotal role in ensuring the accurate calculation of book costs and being proactive in assessing how corporate actions impact book costs, such as reorganizations, spinoffs, splits, and more. Correct book cost calculations are essential for generating accurate monthly statements, gain/loss calculations, and ensuring the correct book cost is captured on tax slips, including T5008 and RL18.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Validate and reconcile book costs for various financial instruments, including equities, investment funds, fixed income products, and derivatives.
- Monitor and assess how corporate actions, such as reorganizations, spinoffs, splits, and mergers, impact book costs and proactively make necessary adjustments.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure accurate and timely reporting of book costs.
- Conduct thorough analysis using DTC, CDS, FundServ resources to resolve discrepancies in book cost calculations.
- Making sure the distributions that impact book cost are processed correctly such as notional (non-cash), return of capital, stock dividends, dividend re-investment.
- Stay updated on industry regulations and changes that may impact book cost reporting.
- Work closely with the tax department to ensure that correct book costs are captured on tax slips, including T5008 and RL18.
- Generate and review monthly book cost reports to ensure accuracy and reliability for clients.
- Collaborate with technology teams to develop and enhance book cost validation tools and systems.
- Provide support in ad-hoc projects related to book cost analysis and tax reporting.
WHAT YOU WILL BRING
- Minimum 3 years of experience in securities dealer operations, preferably in book cost function
- Completion of a post-secondary program in Finance, Accounting, or related field
- Strong understanding of equities, investment funds, fixed income products, and derivatives.
- Proven ability to identify and address discrepancies in book cost calculations.
- Knowledge of DTC, CDS, FundServ platforms
- Knowledge of corporate actions and their impact on book costs.
- Intermediate/Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products, primarily Excel

+ Experience in mentoring and leading teams.
+ Motivated self-starter with sharp attention to detail and a team-oriented approach.
+ French fluency an asset.
+ MUST be able to pass Security Clearance.

Our Nuclear subsector, a key component of WSP's ERI (Energy, Resources and Industry) sector, supports clients in the nuclear industry. Our team offers a wide range of services, including technical and feasibility studies, project management, detailed design, procurement, site management, quality surveillance, commissioning and asset management. This division is operating at an exciting time as nuclear power and new technology solutions are developing globally, with Canada as a leader in nuclear refurbishments, nuclear new builds, incredible capital projects portfolios and a deep history in nuclear supply chain.
WSP is currently seeking an experienced **Senior Project Controller or Senior Cost Analyst (Nuclear)** to join one of Ontario offices. This position will likely require travel within the GTA and surrounding areas, Tiverton, Pickering areas on a regular basis.
The Senior Project Controller/Cost Analyst will support a new nuclear build, a major regulatory infrastructure program. This role is crucial for maintaining strong financial governance, accurate forecasting, and alignment with funding and gated approval processes. The analyst will collaborate closely with project managers, the PMO, and regulatory stakeholders to ensure high-quality cost performance and reporting.
