Job Summary
In this role, you will support daily operations, including troubleshooting, increasing operational effectiveness and efficiency of production unit. Be responsible to ensure the plant provides maximum unit availability in a safe and economical manner by providing support to plant personnel using available resources, by interfacing/coordinating with Supply Chain and S4H data owner and by helping to identify employee development opportunities and participating in operator training/certifications.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Enforce and maintain all safety rules and regulations
  • Make daily rounds to observe production operations and identify any hazards or issues
  • Supervise production employees and enforce company policies
  • Prepare and release process orders in accordance with the schedule in S4H
  • Complete PI sheets & TECO process orders
  • Maintain SharePoint reports – uptime/downtime, scrap reason codes
  • Prepare weekly manpower schedule including OT requirements for shift coverage (while on day shift)
  • Evaluate raw material availability and proactively address potential shortages
  • Look for productivity and TCO opportunities to improve the site profitability
  • Leverage continuous improvement tools to eliminate loss, optimize processes, and improve reliability
  • Manage the department’s materials, machinery, and labor to meet run rate targets
  • Assess job performance and provide open feedback
  • Complete granulation process orders and consume WIP use
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent 
  • 3-5 years of experience in production, manufacturing, or supply chain environments 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel (creating formulas, charts, and basic data analysis) 
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills 
  • Ability to communicate effectively with various teams. 
  • Problem-solving skills and ability to make decisions quickly. 
  • Basic understanding of production processes and scheduling concepts 
Ideal Qualifications 
  • 5-8 years of experience as an operator in polycarbonate extrusion manufacturing 
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in supply chain, Operations Management, or related field 
  • Experience with SAP and APO planning modules 
  • Knowledge of make-to-order manufacturing environments. 
  • Demonstrated success in improving production efficiency. 
  • Experience with cycle counting and inventory management. 
  • Ability to analyze data and identify trends for continuous improvement.

  • Assist production personal in failure analysis and troubleshooting of non-conforming manufactured product to determine the root cause
  • Design and develop tools, jigs, and fixtures to aid in assembly. Create CAD models and drawings for these tools
  • Maintain production tools and fixtures
  • Initiate and lead projects to improve production efficiency, ergonomics and safety of production personals
  • Prepare reports, charts, and other documentation required for engineering records and projects
  • Working with Design team at the early stages of new product development ensuring DFM and DFA principals are applied to product design.
  • Develops testing and inspection criteria at various stages of assembly based on the statistical data of parts’ reliability and recommendation from the design team
  • Assist with training of manufacturing employees on new products, tooling, equipment, and process revisions
  • Identify critical control points and preventive measures
  • Create and maintain FMEA documents.
  • Using lean concepts and tools, participate in continuous improvement projects to improve production plant and manufacturing processes
  • Make recommendations and initiate Plant Wide Quality/Process System Improvements including alternative materials, equipment, gauging, systems, error proofing, and methods.
  • Update and document current plant layout. Modify layout as required to support new assembly requirements or new product launch.

Education & Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, manufacturing or industrial engineering.
  • 5 plus years of related experience in a manufacturing environment preferably with medical products.
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing and quality improvement methods, including Lean Manufacturing concepts
  • Must be a self-starter, with the ability to work both alone/with minimal supervision and in team environment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a demonstrated ability to conduct root cause analysis and FMEA (Failure Mode Effect Analysis)
  • Excellent computer and data analysis skills. Candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Office, CAD (Creo preferably), and CMMS systems.
  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Certification in Lean Six Sigma (Green Belt, Black Belt) or equivalent will be an asset.
  • Familiarity with ISO13485 and general product safety requirements such as CSA, UL, TUV will be an asset

Your Mission

Key Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret detailed documentation such as drawings, assembly procedures, routing cards, schematics, and bills of materials.
  • Produce components by assembling parts and subassemblies.

  • Work from detailed manufacturing procedures and product documentation.
  • Use a variety of skilled assembly techniques including bonded assembly, encapsulation, and use of hand tools to fasten, attach and secure parts
  • Prepare materials for assembly using solvent cleaning and abrasive surface preparation.
  • Use various chemicals, adhesives, and compounds to encapsulate and bond parts.
  • Record actions taken by completing production and quality forms in accordance with ISO9001 requirements.
  • Identify products or parts that do not meet quality standards and follow quarantine procedures as required.
  • Utilize a variety of test, measurement equipment in the verification of product specifications
  • Affix labels, company logos and exterior details to products and packages completed products for shipment
  • Maintain a clean, hazard free work-station by cleaning and maintain equipment, tidying production floor and complying with health and safety procedures, rules and regulations.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma/GED equivalent, and/or relevant workplace experience.
  • Experience working in a detailed, hands-on assembly environment.
  • Soldering experience with good dexterity and the ability to solder to IPC-A_610 and IPC-620 class 3 standards considered an asset.
  • Proficient computer literacy.
  • Strong reading comprehension, writing and documentation skills.
  • Experience with (or willingness to learn) engineering documentation.
  • Occupational Health and Safety and WHMIS certification (or ability to successfully obtain).
