Job Responsibilities:

Reporting to the General Manager, drive a strong quality culture throughout the organization and oversee the development, strategic direction and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure quality programs continue to be best in class. Develop Strategy for future successful performance of Deco Automotive and P&F Tool & Die by assessing individual skill sets within department, assessing current systems and initiate the necessary changes.

Minimum Requirements

  • Responsible for quality operations across two divisions - Deco Automotive and P&F Tool and Die - and must be able to travel regularly between both locations to fulfill role responsibilities.
  • University degree in Engineering or equivalent field
  • Minimum 5-7 years working in a Quality related role
  • 3-5 years' experience providing leadership to and growing a team
  • Certification as a Quality Manager (CQM), Quality Engineer (CQE), Quality Auditor (CQA) preferred
  • Strong knowledge and experience with 8D, issuing NCRs (internally and with suppliers)
  • Strong Root Cause Analysis and problem-solving skills
  • Experience developing and maintaining procedures, work instructions, and process flow documentation
  • Strong working knowledge of 6-Sigma methodology (certification not required)
  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure that all QA/QC policies and procedures are being followed consistently
  • Manage internal and external non-conformances and verify effectiveness of corrective and preventative actions
  • Maintain and improve QA department documentation (policies, WI, process flows, KPIs)
  • Foster a culture of Continuous Improvement by driving PDCA methodology
  • Work closely with other departments to complete in-depth investigations of customer complaints or when issues or trends are identified
  • Make data-based decisions and develop and implement corrective action plans when working with vendors
  • Manage all external and Interna QMS Audits
  • Coach and empower QA team and assist them with individual development goals
    Responsible for supervision of direct reports which includes interviewing, hiring, training, goal setting, evaluating performance, prioritization of work, salary administration, career development, and compliance with personnel, financial and safety policies. Represents the department to other groups in the company.
  • Represent P&F Tool & Die at the customers and suppliers
  • Develop Standard Work for all positions within Department
  • Develop tools to measure achievements
  • Understanding business needs within automotive field and meeting requirements and expectations from COSMA and MAGNA
  • Ensuring Document Control is updated and readily available

  • Develops, monitors and ensures conformance to department budgets.
  • Manages the development, implementation, and maintenance of quality assurance systems and activities to ensure CSR and worldwide regulatory compliance. Ensures appropriate training is conducted as needed throughout the organization to support these systems.
  • Manages the development, validation, implementation and maintenance of quality control procedures and testing methodologies suitable for qualification and release of raw materials, intermediates and products.
  • Provides technical and administrative guidance to QA personnel, and associated validation activities.
  • Ensures that deadlines are met on time and within budget.
  • Interfaces with other departments, consultants and marketing partners to ensure implementation of good business practices in compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Assists the Senior Management Team in establishing long-range organizational goals and strategies and directs the changes associated with achieving those goals.
  • Evaluates QA/QC operating and training needs and develops specific measurable departmental goals and objectives. Develops plans to obtain goals.
  • Prepares operating and capital budgets for areas of responsibility and managing budgets within approved plans and updates.
  • Establishes quality and reliability standards by studying product and consumer requirements with other members of management and with production operators, technicians, and engineers
  • Establishes in-process product inspection standards by studying manufacturing methods; devising testing methods and procedure
  • Develops effective data collection and reporting systems to meet regulatory requirements, quality metrics and management information needs.
  • Promotes continuous quality improvements within quality assurance areas and serving as a resource for members of other disciplines, encouraging involvement throughout the organization.
  • Interfaces with Executive Management, Corporate Management and Customers.
  • Represents the QA departments on key project teams and acts as direct QA interface with corporate compliance.
  • Manages regulatory agencies during inspections and assists with responses to queries/deficiencies.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned and as outlined in the expectations.

The Manager of Quality Assurance leads the quality function, ensuring compliance with regulatory and internal standards while managing the quality management system and supervising staff. What you’ll do as a Quality Manager:

What you’ll bring as a Quality Manager:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum 5 years’ industry experience with focus on quality (TQM, ISO 9000, M1003, SPC, etc.).
  • Prior supervisory experience preferred.
  • Must hold or be willing to obtain within 1 year: AAR Auditor, ISO 9001 Auditor, or ASQ Certified Auditor.
  • Knowledge of structured problem-solving (5 Whys, Kepner Tregoe), Lean/Six Sigma preferred.


Additional Skills and Requirements of a Quality Manager:

  • Demonstrates strong leadership, project management, and decision-making skills with effective communication across all levels of the organization.

Responsible for the day-to-day quality system of the Woodstock Facility. Ensure that the quality, capability and performance targets of both the product and manufacturing processes are met. Purpose:

Key Result Areas:

  • Operate with corporate quality in implementation of Variation Management tools (Root Cause analysis, Control plans, SPC, etc).

Experience:

  • Participating in the quality project audit and certification body audit to maintain company quality certifications (e.g. ISO, CISC, AISC, CWB, etc.)
  • Participating in the project kick-off meetings, ensuring project quality plans are executed and documented in accordance with the requirements of the contract
  • Promoting and advocating quality achievement and performance improvement across the organization
  • Interacting with Management and colleagues for reporting, strategy development and execution planning


Ideally, having proven experience with heavy industrial construction / erection projects in Western Canada, the successful candidate will also possess the following attributes:



  • Minimum 10 years related Canadian experience in the structural steel, bridge and/or manufacturing industry
  • Minimum 4 years in a Quality Management role
  • CWB Division 1 Welding Engineer preferred
  • CSA W178.2 Level 2 (or equivalent certificate) recommended
  • Bachelors degree in Welding or Metallurgical Engineering is an asset
  • Knowledge of AISC, CISC and ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems requirements; legislation, quality codes and standards
  • Detailed knowledge of Canadian and US Codes, such as CSA W59, W47.1, S16, S6, AWS D1.1/D1.5/D1.8, API650, API653, ASME Sect IX
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings to verify alignment and dimensions of products
  • Technical team leadership and problem-solving skills
  • Exemplary communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy

3+ years experience managing internal quality issues and customer concerns
2+ years supervisory or management experience
Automotive industry experience
Certified Lead Auditor (IATF or equivalent)
Strong understanding of IATF 16949 requirements
Valid passport and willingness to travel internationally
Familiarity with product development processes and launch activities
Proven problem-solving strategy and execution Knowledge or certification in Red X problem-solving methodology

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of quality control systems and procedures.
  • Monitor and analyze production processes to ensure compliance with quality standards and implement measures to improve customer satisfaction and product quality.
  • Conduct regular internal audits and inspections to identify areas for improvement.
  • Assist in preparing for external audits and ensure compliance with industry regulations and standards.
  • Investigate and resolve quality-related issues and non-conformances.
  • Collaborate with production, engineering, and other departments to implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date quality documentation, including inspection records, audit reports, and corrective action plans.
  • Prepare and present quality reports to management.
  • Assist in training employees on quality standards, procedures, and best practices.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and quality awareness throughout the organization.
  • Work with suppliers to ensure that incoming materials meet quality specifications and conduct supplier audits and assessments as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Technologist/Technician Diploma in Engineering required.
  • Certification as an CQE would be an asset.
  • 1 - 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment required, preferably in automotive manufacturing.
  • Proficiency in quality control tools and techniques; including knowledge of quality management systems, as well as design output, metrology and instrumentation.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

Working Conditions:

  • The role may require occasional travel to supplier sites and other company locations.
  • Work is typically performed in a manufacturing environment, which may involve exposure to noise, chemicals, and other industrial hazards.
