Job DescriptionCapable of performing all ultrasound procedures, including abdominal, pelvic, obstetrical, and small parts. Experience in musculoskeletal, neurosonography, vascular imaging, as well as assisting in interventional procedures are assets.

- Registration in good sanding with CMRITO required
- Must be a graduate from an accredited Sonography program.
- Must have recent experience in a hospital environment.
- Must demonstrate competence in scanning abdominal, obstetrical, small parts, venous, carotid doppler and assisting in interventional procedures; breast experience an asset
- Competence in musculoskeletal, arterial studies, transrectal and neurosonography, although not required is considered an asset.
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment and manages competing priorities that require independent judgment and initiative to support efficient workflow.
- Must demonstrate critical thinking skills in the assessment of complex pathologies.
- Must have the ability to work independently
- Must have good communication and interpersonal skills to interact with hospital staff and patients.
- Demonstrated commitment to be an integral part of the diagnostic imaging team to ensure smooth workflow within the department as well between the department and other departments in the hospital.

Additional Information
Status : Temporary Full-Time (Approx. 18 months)
Hours: Monday to Sunday - Various rotating 7.5 hour shifts; 0745, 0800, 0900, 1000, 1100, 1200, 1300, 1400, 1500, 1600, (Hours are subject to change based on operational needs) and on call.
Salary : $43.509 to $56.510 per hour

- Proficiency in computer use and operating and troubleshooting ultrasound equipment and PACS systems.
- Experience in a clinical or hospital setting is preferred.
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification preferred.

THE OPPORTUNITY
As a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer, you will perform a variety of ultrasound procedures for inpatients, outpatients, and emergency cases, using advanced imaging technology to capture detailed views of internal organs, tissues, and blood flow. - KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supporting and promoting the mission, vision, and values of the hospital in all interactions with patients, staff, and the public, in alignment with the GBGH Code of Conduct.
- Performing high-quality ultrasound examinations for general, obstetric, vascular, and breast imaging in accordance with GBGH protocols and regulatory standards.
- Preparing examination rooms and ultrasound equipment, ensuring compliance with infection prevention and patient safety protocols.
- Reviewing imaging requisitions for accuracy, clinical relevance, and appropriateness; clarifying orders when necessary.
- Explaining procedures clearly and compassionately to patients, obtaining informed consent, and answering questions within the scope of practice.
- Performing routine quality assurance checks on ultrasound equipment and reporting any discrepancies or malfunctions.
- Demonstrating accountability for safe, professional, and ethical behaviour aligned with hospital policies, legislation, and CMRITO standards.
- Participating in the department’s Quality Management Program through daily, weekly, monthly, and annual audits, reporting, and continuous quality improvement.
- Collaborating with Radiologists, Diagnostic Imaging leadership, and the Quality Lead to support accreditation, compliance, and clinical best practices.
- Troubleshooting equipment issues, coordinating preventative maintenance, and maintaining equipment logs to meet safety and regulatory requirements.
- Ensuring accurate acquisition, storage, and documentation of ultrasound images using PACS and other imaging systems.
- Supporting the maintenance and functionality of ultrasound equipment, including coordinating service and repairs as needed.
- Attending team meetings and contributing to discussions focused on process improvement and patient care enhancement.
- Assisting with patient care tasks such as lifting, turning, and positioning, while ensuring dignity and safety are upheld.
- Maintaining accurate documentation including patient demographics, clinical details, imaging requisitions, QA activities, and supply logs.
- Ordering and managing departmental supplies, verifying stock levels, and expediting replenishment as necessary.
- Supporting the orientation and competency assessments of new staff, students, and co-op participants in the diagnostic imaging services areas.
- Adhering to all hospital safety protocols and infection control standards relevant to ultrasound imaging.
- Assisting with departmental operations such as appointment coordination, obtaining lab results, and preparing documentation.
- Demonstrating commitment to professional development through continuous learning, including completion of required eLearning requirements.
- Maintaining a high level of personal health, punctuality, and regular attendance to ensure consistent delivery of patient care.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
The ideal candidate will possess the following key competencies, record of experience and academic preparation:
- Current registration in good standing with the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario (CMRITO) in the sonography specialty required.
- Completion of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program required.
- Certification with Sonography Canada and/or ARDMS (American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography) preferred.
- Strong knowledge of sonographic anatomy, pathology, and scanning protocols.
- Proficiency in computer use and operating and troubleshooting ultrasound equipment and PACS systems.
- Experience in a clinical or hospital setting is preferred.
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification preferred.
- Demonstrated initiative, accountability, and strong organizational skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven ability to perform imaging accurately, efficiently, and with high attention to detail.

Georgian Cardiology is looking for a Cardiac Sonographer to join our team. The successful candidate will report to the Medical Director and Director of Operations, this position requires performing Adult echocardiography, Stress echocardiography and imaging procedures.
Duties
Work independently performing Echos and stress Echos as per CCN protocol in a busy clinical environment.
Obtain vitals, height and weight on all patients
Contact physician if critical pathology noted as per policy.
Evaluate different aspects of the heart, such as chamber size, valve function and blood flow.
Using GE viewpoint software to create preliminary reports
Review patient charts and be familiar with basic cardiac conditions in order to recognize and identify any abnormalities.
Inputting relevant patient information into GE S70.
Prepare accurate reports for physician interpretation.
Basic troubleshooting when required.
Effective communication (written and verbal), organization and interpersonal skills
Explaining procedures to patients in a kind and reassuring manner.
Clean and maintain Ultrasound equipment.
Demonstrate effective problem-solving skills, critical thinking and the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced clinical environment.
