Our high profile publicly traded client is looking for a Tax Manager to join their dynamic team. The Tax Manager is responsible for managing Canadian corporate and mining-related tax compliance, provisioning, and strategic planning across federal and provincial jurisdictions. It includes oversight of income tax filings, specialized mining tax schedules, and regulatory requirements such as Regulation 105 and CRA audits.

Responsibilities of the Tax Manager include, but not limited to:

  • Manage and review Canadian federal and provincial corporate income tax filings (T2s), including resource-specific schedules (e.g., resource allowance, Canadian exploration and development expenses).
  • Coordinate preparation of mining-related tax filings such as mining taxes (e.g., Ontario).
  • Maintain compliance with all CRA and provincial tax requirements, including audit support.
  • Coordinate with external advisors and CRA auditors on tax filings.
  • Manages the CRA audit process as well as preparing/reviewing responses to audit queries.
  • Manages certain tax filings for Canadian income tax purposes including Regulation 105 withholding, T4A-NR, and T5 .
  • Compiles and reconciles data for various information returns such as T106, NR4, T1134 and country-by-country report.
  • Liaises with corporate departments to gather information for intra-group service fees and prepares calculations.
  • Supports tax planning initiatives and implementation of internal reorganizations and step plans.
  • Partner closely with Treasury, Legal, Corporate Finance, and international tax teams to implement tax plans and strategies which align with operational objectives.
  • Assist with quarterly and annual tax provision process in accordance with IFRS, including current and deferred tax calculations, tax footnote disclosures, and tax continuity schedules.
  • Reconcile and maintain tax accounts and ensure SOX/internal control compliance over tax reporting.
  • Assists with tax audit queries and tax related queries from the Company’s external financial statement auditors.
  • Prepare/Review the annual tax provisions for Canadian entities.
  • Prepare the consolidated year-end tax provision model.

    Job Requirements:

  • University degree.
  • CPA designation with In-depth Tax Course (CPA Canada) completed.
  • Minimum 6–8+ years of Canadian corporate tax experience, within a public company or an accounting firm.
  • Experience with tax provisioning under IFRS with an understanding of accounting for deferred taxes. Experience with cross-border taxation or U.S. tax is a plus.
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills; ability to exercise judgement and implement solutions with minimal direction.

    + Handle the preparation and review of Canadian corporate income tax returns and related filings.

    + Contribute to international tax planning, including repatriation strategies, treaty and withholding analysis.
    + Collaborate with finance teams (Accounting, Treasury, Planning and foreign affiliates) to ensure accurate tax reporting.
    + Identify and implement process improvements to enhance documentation of tax filings.

    **Skills You Will Need:**

    POSITION SUMMARY

    We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced tax professional to manage Canadian tax compliance and provisions for our Canadian entities.     Reporting to the Director of Finance and working closely with other members of the Finance team, the Tax Manager is a hands-on role responsible for corporate tax compliance, indirect tax, cross-border tax strategy, and tax provision reporting. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical knowledge of both U.S. and Canadian tax, and sound judgement in navigating cross-border and transfer pricing issues.     Responsibilities include:

    Tax Compliance & Reporting

    • Oversee corporate tax compliance for both U.S. and Canada, including federal, state/provincial, and local filings
    • Ensure timely and accurate filing of corporate income tax, sales tax (GST/HST/PST/VAT), and other indirect taxes
    • Manage quarterly and annual tax provision calculations under US GAAP and IFRS
    • Maintain compliance with transfer pricing regulations and prepare required documentation
    • Coordination of SR&ED filings
    • Support accurate tax reporting and compliance related to withholding tax and intercompany distributions
    Tax Planning & Strategy
    • Develop and implement tax-efficient strategies to optimize the company's global tax position
    • Identify and mitigate cross-border tax risks, including permanent establishment exposure 
    • Advise on tax implications of business operations, M&A, restructurings, and new market entry
    • Monitor U.S. and Canadian tax law changes and assess business impact
    Audit & Risk Management

    Collaboration & Advisory

    YOUR PAST MISSIONS

    YOUR COMPENSATION

    About The Role

    As a Tax Manager, you will take ownership of all aspects of tax management, including compliance, reporting, and strategic tax planning. You will play a pivotal role in identifying and managing tax risks, while working collaboratively with internal stakeholders and external advisors to develop and execute strategies that optimize tax efficiency for the company.

    You'll bring a proactive approach to keeping our business ahead of changes in legislation, ensuring that our financial reporting and compliance processes reflect current requirements. This is an opportunity to shape how Bosa Properties manages its tax operations — through thoughtful planning, process improvement, and mentorship of team members.

    What You'll Do

    • Lead the preparation and review of key tax documentation, including monthly instalment schedules, year-end tax provisions, and income tax schedules for both management reporting and audited financial statements.

    • Stay current with changes in tax legislation, assess their impact on the business, and recommend appropriate actions to ensure compliance and efficiency.

    • Provide guidance on tax estimation processes for transactions and operational forecasts included in cash flow budgets.

    • Collaborate with internal teams and external advisors to analyze the tax and accounting implications of business transactions and ensure timely execution.

    • Identify opportunities to improve and automate tax processes for greater accuracy and efficiency.

    • Partner closely with Accounting, Legal, Finance, and FP&A teams to support tax reporting and compliance requirements.

    • Support and mentor junior tax staff through training, regular feedback, and review of work deliverables.

    • Review external deliverables such as tax step plans and memos, providing clear and actionable feedback.

    • Maintain strong working paper documentation and standardized tax procedures to support team training and knowledge sharing.

    • Monitor and manage tax compliance deadlines, ensuring all filings and transactions are completed on schedule.

    What You Bring

    • CPA designation (or equivalent)

    • A minimum of 4-6 years of progressive experience in tax, ideally within a complex corporate or real estate environment.

    • Strong technical knowledge of Canadian corporate tax, with exposure to international tax considered an asset.

    • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

    • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with a detail-oriented approach.

    • Strong communication and relationship-building skills with both internal and external stakeholders.

    • Experience leading or mentoring junior team members.

    Our salary ranges and bonus percentages are determined by job family and level. Base salary is determined by a combination of factors including, but not limited to, education and training, years of relevant experience, and internal equity.

    Responsibilities:

    • Complete the preparation of the Company’s Canadian corporate tax returns, including leading the preparation and review of annual SR&ED filings.
    • Preparation of calculations and working paper schedules in supporting the tax returns.
    • Assist in the filing of the Company’s US corporate tax returns.
    • Ensure Canadian and US government remittances, including sales taxes, corporate taxes are submitted on time.
    • Maintain access and compliance with financial portals and systems for Canadian and US tax filings and regulatory submissions.
    • Serve as the point of contact for all tax compliance audits.
    • Assist accounting team in preparation of financial statement tax provisions and disclosures.
    • Research new tax trends and regulations.
    • Liaison with external accounting firm(s) and working closely in all areas with the executive team.
    • Assistance in day-to-day operations within the accounting department
    • Other related duties, including special projects, as assigned by management
    Qualifications:
    • Designated accountant, preferably a qualified CPA
    • Strong knowledge of CRA regulations and compliance
