About the Role:
This position exists in order to effectively and efficiently set up, operate and maintain die cast machines in our Conventional or Multi-Slide departments (zinc) or Aluminum. The Setup Technician will maintain the equipment in optimum operable condition at all times to support improved uptime and consistent high quality casting production to customer specifications to enable customer delivery commitments to be met.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:To set-up new, daily run and test modified dies. Monitor and modify/repair production equipment/tool fixtures as needed to develop set-up instructions that achieve repeatedly consistent, high quality castings to customer specifications, at the cycle time quoted the customer. Ensure sufficient spare parts on hand to maintain the equipment in optimum operable and safe conditions at all times to minimize downtime/lost production to the Company.- Review and interpret drawings, follow production set-up sheet specifications to set-up and disassemble casting machines, determine proper die type, monitor machine operation and casting quality throughout the process, adjust/modify as needed to achieve desired run speed and use appropriate measuring tools to ensure compliance to strict tolerances;
- Perform basic/intermediate mechanical repairs on all DCM and related auxiliary equipment, i.e. change operating heads, goosenecks, nozzle bodies, nozzle heaters etc.
- Identify future parts needs and promptly inform Purchasing of requirements to maintain a sufficient inventory of spare parts;
- Troubleshoot machine breakdown/problems, consult with Operator, review past machine number file and maintenance records to identify any recurring problems and root cause;
- Determine need to implement short term versus long term repairs to get machine running as quickly as possible, implement required corrective action(s), and keep the Supervisor and/or Operator aware of repair status;
- Remove and store die and end of run samples, report any tool related problems, record data, and sign off data/documentation where required;
- Work with Toolmaker to resolve die related problems, closely monitor casting quality of re-set dies, troubleshoot/adjust process, initiate corrective action ticket(s) where required, and document modifications required to achieve quality compliance;
- Set-up machine as per instructions, determine proper die/grippers/trim press, monitor machine operation and casting quality throughout the process, troubleshoot/adjust/modify as needed to achieve desired run speed, and notify Technician of any repair/replacement issues unable to be resolved;
- Visually inspect castings for non-conformances, and complete first offs, end of runs, and puck samples, with required documentation;
- Distribute quality approved parts to the required location, continue monitoring production run, and provide Q.A. with end of run samples and documentation.
To perform Preventative Maintenance (P.M.) tasks, housekeeping and miscellaneous duties to support manufacturing requirements at the desired run speed, with minimum machine downtime, to produce high quality castings to customer specifications, at the least possible cost to the Company.
- Conduct ongoing mechanical Preventative Maintenance on die cast machines, when required;
- Assist with the 'on the job' orientation of new Operators as needed;
- Provide relief to General labourers or Pot Fillers as required;
- Attend shift meetings as needed;
- Maintain a clean and tidy work area at all times and report any potentially hazardous /unsafe conditions.
To control calibration of machines and maintain equipment set-up files to meet the current quality management system requirements to ensure product meets specifications.
To work collaboratively with Design Engineering to improve fixtures, tooling and equipment design/capabilities.
- Set-up and run experimental prototype parts, and notify the Design Department of any deficiencies/malfunctions or design problems;
- Advise Engineering on new tooling designs regarding ergonomic issues, machine capabilities/limitations, cost/productivity improvements, and possible corrective actions.
Education & Experience Required :
- First consideration will be given to individuals with a minimum of Grade 12 (Technical) education and a Certificate of Qualification as an Industrial Millwright.
- Second consideration will be given to individuals with a minimum of Grade 12 (Technical) education and a Certificate of Qualification in a recognized mechanical trade i.e. Certified Mechanic.
- Third consideration will be given to individuals with a two or three year mechanical trade related college diploma or university degree and a minimum of two years direct, hands-on mechanical work experience;
- Certified Overhead Crane Operator;
- Previous experience setting-up and operating an die cast machine or injection molding machine;
- Previous Quality Assurance experience an asset;
- Previous experience safely operating a pallet truck preferred.
Skills & Knowledge Required :
- Advanced level skill and knowledge of set-up techniques and tolerances; knowledge of automatic equipment set-up and maintenance procedures;
- Advanced level skill and working knowledge of conventional die cast machines or injection molding machines preferred;
- Advanced level mechanical aptitude skills;
- Intermediate level blueprint/drawings reading and interpretation;
- Intermediate level working knowledge of Programmable Logic Control (PLC) functions and setting of pneumatic switches, preferred;
- Intermediate level knowledge of shotscope software application, preferred;
- Current knowledge of new production equipment/machinery/products preferred;
- Ability to use and complete conversions in both metric and imperial measurement systems.

In this role, you will play a pivotal part in helping our customers achieve and maintain clean indoor air by ensuring their duct systems, dryer vents and kitchen exhausts are consistently clean and safe. The day-to-day activities of our Field Service Technician include:
- Service Delivery: Perform mechanical servicing and maintenance of air handling systems, including ductwork, dryer vents, kitchen exhausts, and filters. Assist in the installation, replacement, and maintenance of commercial and industrial HVAC filter systems across plant sites.
- Indoor Air Quality Testing: This includes setting up a variety of tests to measure air quality. To conduct these tests, it is critical that you pay keen attention to detail and accurately document the set up and timing of the testing so interpretation and reporting can be completed for the client.
- Commitment to Safety: Operate in strict adherence to client and company safety protocols and maintain a secure work environment for all team members. This involves conducting hazard assessments and diligently documenting any incidents or near misses.
The right candidate will demonstrate the following qualifications on their resume:
- 1+ years' experience effectively using hand, power and pneumatic tools, which are provided for you.

The position will work alongside the Site Supervisor to assist with general labourer tasks including lifting, digging, and general site clean-up.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform tasks as assigned by Site Supervisor. May include excavation, demolition, carrying supplies and materials, setting up and breaking down workstations and scaffolding, minor carpentry, tool maintenance, punch list tasks, assisting trade contractors, etc.
- Digging, lifting, and moving equipment and material as required.
- General understanding of basic hand tools and the ability to use them.
- Report any problems, damage, hazardous conditions, and oversights to Site Supervisor.
- Keep job sites clean. Make sure debris is contained in proper dumpsters. Complete exterior pick-up and interior sweeping/tidying as directed by Site Supervisor.
- Help Site Supervisor receive material deliveries. Unload trucks, and stack and store materials. Protect lumber and other large materials from exposure to weather.
- De-ice, shovel snow and supply heat to homes under construction in winter.
- Make sure excavated areas, trenches and holes are marked for safety.
- Keep model homes tidy (general housekeeping on interior and exterior)
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements:
- General construction safety knowledge.
- Good verbal communication skills.
- Reliability.
- Ability to operate hand and power tools.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Criminal Background check required.
- Ability to lift on a daily basis (weights may reach 50+ pounds).
- Valid CSTS, WHMIS, First Aid Certifications, Fall Arrest, and Lift Equipment courses an asset. The company will provide training.
Physical Demand Requirements:
- VISION - Near and far vision. Some work activities involve the monitoring of processes, objects or situations in the work environment that are far from the worker. Other work activities are performed near the worker.
- HEARING - Verbal interaction. Work activities involve communication with colleagues on a regular basis.
- BODY POSITION - Work activities involve combinations and varying degrees of sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, and crouching.
- LIMB COORDINATION - Multiple limb coordination. Work activities are carried out by coordinating the movements of upper limbs simultaneously with lower limbs.
- STRENGTH – High. Work activities involve handling load of 10lb but less than 50lb.
- ENVIRONMENT – Primarily outdoors, in all weather conditions.
- HEIGHT – Ability to work at high levels on ladders, scaffolding and climb stairs.
