**Job Summary**
Reporting to the Operations Manager, this role is responsible for supervising a manufacturing production team, ensuring cost, schedule, and quality goals are realized for an assigned area/product line/work cell.
**As a Production Supervisor your main responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):**
+ Oversee the day-to-day activities of an assigned manufacturing area.
+ Ensure product/service quality through proper utilization of resources and adherence to applicable standards.
+ Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's polices and applicable laws and regulations.
+ Lead activities to resolve issues and problems, identifying root cause and effecting appropriate corrective action.
+ Monitor and enable internal and external customer satisfaction.
+ Generate, maintain, and update shop floor documentation, ensuring compliance with operating procedures, quality standards and safety guidelines.
+ Drive continuous improvement through deployment of best practices, such as Lean Six Sigma
+ Maintain and continuously improve areas, which impact on team member safety.
+ Hire, manage career development, and assess performance of assigned team members.
+ Attend applicable internal or external customer meetings.
+ Participate on special project teams as required.
+ Support new product introduction activities and training initiatives.
+ Support, communicate, reinforce, and defend the mission, values, and culture of the organization.
**What you require to be successful in the role:**
+ Possession of a technology diploma in electronics or equivalent experience
+ Minimum of 3 to 5 years of successful and progressive supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment
+ Proficient technical expertise with demonstrated application
+ Good time management skills and ability to prioritize challenging schedules
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills
+ Maintain positive working relationships with other team members
+ Familiarity with Industrial Engineering concepts and 5S/6S techniques
+ Knowledge and familiarity with standards (ISO, AS, etc.)

Job Summary

Under the direction of the Production Manager, the Production Supervisor will be responsible for the

training and the communication of expectations, standards, results and feedback for the employees in

their department. The Production Supervisor will work with their employees to ensure that all objectives

are met, the Collective Agreement is respected and a positive workplace climate is maintained. The

Production Supervisor will also communicate with other departments and attend meetings as part of the

overall collaborative effort in goal attainment. In addition, the Production Supervisor manages quality by

ensuring compliance with HACCP/SQF; good manufacturing practices and ensures compliance with

Health and Safety policies and procedures.

Major Responsibilities

1.Assign work with instruction objectives during start-up and throughout the shift;

2.Communicate expectations/operational objectives/standards to employees;

3. Follow-up on work assignments;

4.Quantify variances to manpower needs;

5.Communicate efficiency & quality results to employees;

6.Identify and solve problems with employees;

7.Implement method changes/conduct tasks analysis;

8.Provide feedback (positive & constructive) to employees;

9.Hold shift start meetings with employees;

10. Ask employees for availability for overtime;

11. Follow-up on company policies (discipline, Health & Safety, HACCP/SQF);

12. Ensure Collective Agreement is applied and respected;

13. Identify, plan, provide and follow up on employee training (new employees, cross-training, Health & Safety, HACCP/SQF, etc.);

14. Analyze and fill-out reports and documents;

15. Participate in scheduled meetings (Transition/Production/Planning/Special Projects, Performance Variance Control Review);

16. Enter invoicing data;

17. Collaborate with other supervisors (Production, Maintenance, and Shipping) to ensure fulfillment of manpower needs;

18. Have a constant presence on the floor;

19. Manage emergencies and solve problems in a timely manner;

20. Meet and communicate informally;

21. Participate in and adhere to all Health and Safety policies and regulations;

22. Other duties as assigned.


What You Bring to the Role

Qualifications and Education Experience

• High school diploma;

• Three (3) to five (5) years of industrial supervisory experience, preferably in a unionized environment;

• Knowledge of the food industry an asset;

• Knowledge of HACCP/SQF regulations an asset;

• Good judgment, team player, leadership and autonomy;

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office;

Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills with hands-on problem-solving skills in a manufacturing environment

Manage the on-going development, performance, and day-to-day supervision of assigned shift personnel in order to maintain quality standards and increase production levels
Plan and manage scheduling for production team

Qualifications
Post-secondary degree/diploma, preferably in industrial technology or engineering, business administration, or management
Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience within a fast-paced Manufacturing environment, 3 of which must be in a supervisory role; Experience specifically in a high-speed, continuous process manufacturing environment is an asset
Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills with hands-on problem-solving skills in a manufacturing environment
Strong interpersonal skills and leadership ability in order to successfully manage a diverse group of employees
Excellent communication (written, verbal, and presentation) and analytical skills
Proven track record of operational enhancement and improvements through employee engagement, demonstrated team building talent
Excellent time management, planning, and organizational skills
Proficient in MS Office
Experience in a unionized manufacturing environment an asset
