**Marine Officer in Training (OIT), Nakusp, BC**
Interfor is seeking energetic and enthusiastic team
players to join our team as a **Marine Officer in Training (OIT)** in Nakusp, BC.
Starting rate for this position is $37.61 per hour. The successful candidate will need to relocate to Nakusp, BC. This is a full-time position.
**What You'll Do**
+ Promote a safe working environment
+ Officersin training are responsible for assisting the master on various vessels asa mate during rafting operations
+ Constructionof boom sticks, docks, other infrastructure
+ Assistthe master and mates as a deckhand on a 24hr towing vessel. Thisincludes towing, boom work, cooking, and cleaning
+ Befamiliar with Transport Canada, Work Safe BC and Interfor's polices,practices and regulations
+ Bending,twisting, lifting and pulling
+ Theability to work in all weather conditions all year around
+ Memberof the Canadian Merchant Service Guild
**The following certificates aremandatory but can be provided for the right candidate:**
+ SmallDomestic Vessel Basic Safety (SDV-BS) - formally MED A3
+ MarineBasic First Aid
+ WHMIScertification
+ TDG
**What You Offer**
+ Ableto swim
+ Willingto work up to 14-day 12 hour shifts
+ Willingto work 5-day 8 hour shifts
+ Willingto work up to 14 days on a 24 hour live aboard vessel
+ Willingto work overtime when required
+ Ableto work within a team atmosphere
+ Mustbe physically fit, able to lift, push, pull, throw 50+ pounds
+ Ableto work in all weather conditions all year around
+ Mechanicallyinclined with the ability to do minor maintenance work on vessel
+ Ableto work in confined spaces with crew members
+ Previousexperience in the lumber industry would be an asset
+ Previousexperience working in an industrial marine atmosphere would be anasset
