Reporting to the Support Care Team Lead, the Support Care Worker will assist in the delivery of personalized recovery programs, offer emotional support, and help clients engage with the community and treatment processes. This position is ideal for empathetic, resilient individuals passionate about making a tangible difference in the lives of those recovering from addiction and those willing to help wherever is needed around the Recovery Community.


Role-specific Accountabilities

  • Provide ongoing support, encouragement, and care to clients, assisting them in daily activities and supporting their recovery goals.
  • Encourage and assist clients in participating in various program activities, including therapy sessions, group meetings, work-as-therapy, and recreational activities.
  • Facilitate a range of group and individual activities which are responsive to the recovery needs of clients and the community.
  • Support the delivery of the Therapeutic Community program.
  • Monitor the well-being of clients and report any concerns or progress to the Support Care Team Lead, contributing to the adjustment of recovery plans and risk management plans as needed.
  • Assist in managing crisis situations under the guidance of clinical staff, ensuring the safety and security of all clients and staff.
  • Foster a positive, supportive community environment among clients, encouraging mutual respect, understanding, and support.
  • Perform administrative tasks as needed, including but not limited to, documenting client progress, attending team meetings, and maintaining client records.
  • Provide clients with information and guidance on healthy lifestyles, coping strategies, and life skills, contributing to their holistic recovery process.
  • Work collaboratively with the clients and their families on reunification and relationship building.
  • Shifts are available 24/7/365.


Qualifications

  • Degree or certification in psychology, social work, nursing, or related field preferred.
  • Experience in a caregiving role, preferably within mental health, addiction recovery, or a related healthcare setting.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to connect with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive situations with compassion and confidentiality.
  • CPR/First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain.

Summary of Position:


The Child Care Worker is a member of the interdisciplinary team which assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates treatment plans for a given child. Routine/Responsibilities

  • Administration of medication and first aid procedures as per Policies and Procedures of Anew Centre for Healing;
  • Supervision of children and youth both within a home setting and community setting;
  • Assisting children with schooling, recreation, and structured programming as outlined by the support team;
  • Ensure the home is maintained in a clean and tidy state and complete safety checks while on shift;
  • Follow meal plans and prepare as required by following the Canadians Indigenous Food Guide and Menu Plan;
  • Maintain structure, consistency, and effective follow-up on house rules, routines, and appropriate therapeutic interventions as required;
  • Professional report writing and documentation of behavior, daily activities, medical, etc;
  • Engaging children in a healthy lifestyle through physical activities, as well as indoor activities such as board games, puzzles, etc;
  • Providing direction and guidance through role modelling, verbal redirection, physical redirection, and use of consequences as needed;
  • Ensure all individual program development that is client specific is promoted, utilized, encouraged, and documented;
  • Maintain a safe and secure environment within the centre by implementing structure, consistency, and predictability;
  • Implement strategies (i.e. de-escalation techniques, life skills, life space teaching, etc.) and participate with the children/youth in planned daily activities;
  • Develop positive therapeutic relationships with the children and youth through processes that include positive role modeling and mentoring;
  • Perform additional tasks or duties as directed by the Team Supervisor or Management.


Required Experience and Qualifications

  • Degree or diploma in a Human Services field (Child and Youth Care, Early Childhood Education, Social Work, Psychology) would be considered an asset.
  • Current (6 months or newer) and Clear Criminal Record Check, including Vulnerable Sector Clearance.

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Clinical Director the Complex Care Case Worker will provide a broad range of support services to individuals including administrative and social support, case management, system navigation and advocacy services. The incumbent will lead care coordination for complex clients in consultation with internal and external supports with a focus on patient-centred care. In addition, this position will be responsible to assist with the design and operation of services at NFCHC including maintaining quality assurances. The Case Worker will work with Primary Care Providers to assist in supporting their most complex patients providing input and consulting on cases as well as developing and facilitating wrap around supports that enhance the patient’s sense of health and wellbeing.

Main Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Provide care coordination and supports to clients referred internally and externally utilizing a variety of methods.
  • Assist Clinical Team with expedient completion of a variety of assessments and forms (i.e. ODSP)
  • Assist with the Client Concern process by ensuring there is follow-up and agreed upon actions are completed.
  • Maintain client records with timely and accurate reporting.

The Opportunity:

We are seeking passionate individuals to join our team as Child and Youth Care Workers in Edmonton, Alberta and area. In this role, you'll be pivotal in a group home setting, offering specialized care to children and youth with complex behavioral needs. What sets us apart? Schedule:

  • Day (7:30am-10:30pm)6 shifts on, 3 shifts off rotation
  • Evening (3:00 pm - 11:00 pm) 6 shifts on, 3 shifts off rotation
  • Overnight, Awake (10:30pm-8am)


Your Day to Day:

  • Establish a relationship to guide and support youth through mentorship, role modelling, and positive reinforcement
  • Supervise children/youth at home and in the community
  • Complete and maintain documentation of daily activities and observations
  • Participate in the Care Team through the ongoing development of care plans and programs
  • Perform routine general program responsibilities such as cleaning and organization

What You Bring:

  • Direct experience working with youth with complex behavioural and mental health needs
  • Knowledge of child and youth care mental wellness best practices
  • Knowledge of effective home care processes and procedures
  • Trauma Informed Care understanding and proven experience
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong technology and computer skills
  • Completion of a Degree/Diploma in Child and Youth Care or Social Work is an asset
  • Suicide prevention training is an asset
  • Mental Health First Aid is an asset


Mandatory Requirements:

  • Valid Alberta Class 5 Driver's License
  • Alberta 10-year Driver's Abstract (10 years driving experience is not required)
  • Alberta auto insurance with 2-million liability coverage
  • Valid Standard First Aid with CPR Level C + AED (two day in person training completed)
  • Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check obtained within the last 6 months
  • Intervention Record Check obtained from Children Services within the last 6 months
  • Your own reliable four door vehicle to transport clients in

arc programs is currently accepting applications for Child and Youth Care Workers to join the Family Connection Centre team to start in late April 2025.

Child and Youth Care Workers (CYCWs) will work directly with children or youth (ages 0-18) who are diagnosed with, or have clinical indicators of Autism, neurodiversity, developmental delays, or other complex support needs, to enhance the child / youths ability to function and connect with family and peers in their home, school and community.


Hours / Schedule:

  • Full-Time, Permanent
  • Averaging 37.5-hours per-week


Responsibilities:

Using an outreach, community-based, family-centered service delivery approach, CYCCs will:

  • Establish a support plan based on the child / youths assessed strengths, needs, abilities and preferences.
  • Works with the Practice Lead, Agency Leadership, and administrative personnel to coordinate and develop program services and agency initiatives.
  • Collaborates with the Practice Lead and family to develop individualized intervention plans based on the My Support Plan, ensuring the approach is tailored to the child/youth's specific needs.
  • Works as a support worker, focusing on providing guidance, resources, and skill-building to help children/youth navigate challenges and develop their abilities, while collaborating with clinical professionals (e.g., counselors) when specialized expertise is needed.
  • Provides individual coaching and support to help the child/youths development in daily life activities, including social-emotional learning, school, employment, domestic skills, and community engagement, while addressing challenging behavior, skill deficits, and complex needs through goal-oriented interventions.
  • Focuses on the best interest of the child/youth, ensuring decisions prioritize their well-being within healthy family relationships and a supportive community.
  • Works directly with children/youth to support their development, while modeling positive, developmentally appropriate strategies to foster supportive engagement between children/youth and their caregivers.
  • Facilitates child/youth-focused groups to improve social skills, communication, life skills, and peer relationships.
  • Connects youth and families with other internal or external resources to ensure access to services that address their specific needs.
  • Collaborates with Intake and Care Coordinators, Developmental Specialists and other service providers and community partners, to deliver comprehensive, goal-focused interventions, ensuring that the child/youth's needs are fully addressed through higher levels of consultation and collaboration when necessary.
  • Applies culturally safe, trauma-informed, relational, and person/family-centered approaches to ensure inclusive, individualized, and effective care.


Preferred Education and Experience:

A bachelors degree in a Social Services or Human Services discipline (i.e.: BSW, CYC, BA in Psychology etc.) with a minimum of 2-years relevant experience is preferred.

Other levels of qualifications (i.e.: Human Service Worker) including position-specific experience, knowledge and skills may beconsidered.

To be successful in your role, you'll also need:

  • Knowledge and demonstrated understanding of strengths-based family systems and attachment-based support.
  • Well-versed in child development, developmental delays, neurodiversity, ASD, FASD and complex support needs.
  • Familiar with IHCAN assessments, and recommended interventions.
  • Ability to establish trusting relationships with children, youth, and families.
  • Experience working as a part of a multi-disciplinary team.



Other Requirements

  • Need a valid BC Driver's License, regional insurance, and a reliable personal vehicle.
  • Must Undergo a screening process, including a criminal record search.

Wage / Benefits:

27.00 30.50 per hour based on experience and education.

Upon successful completion of a probationary period, full-time employees (minimum 20-hrs per week) are eligible for a full benefit package (including dental plan, vision coverage, life insurance, extended medical coverage, long-term disability plan, and RRSP or TFSA contributions)


New full-time employees are eligible for 3-weeks paid vacation to start, as well as paid sick days as described in agency policy.
