Job Description

Who we are:

For over 20 years, Global Relay has set the standard in enterprise information archiving with industry-leading cloud archiving, surveillance, eDiscovery, and analytics solutions. We securely capture and preserve the communications data of the world's most highly regulated firms, giving them greater visibility and control over their information and ensuring compliance with stringent regulations.

Though we offer competitive compensation and benefits and all the other perks one would expect from an established company, we are not your typical technology company. Global Relay is a career-building company. A place for big ideas. New challenges. Groundbreaking innovation. It's a place where you can genuinely make an impact – and be recognized for it.

We believe great businesses thrive on diversity, inclusion, and the contributions of all employees. To that end, we recruit candidates from different backgrounds and foster a work environment that encourages employees to collaborate and learn from each other, completely free of barriers.

Your role:

Global Relay delivers enterprise services to 23,000 customers in 90 countries, including 22 of the top 25 global banks. Technical Product Managers (TPMs) are part of the Product Management team that is responsible for executing product strategy, prioritizing and aligning roadmaps, and for researching and defining enhancements and upgrades to Global Relay services.

Reporting to a Group Product Manager, TPMs in Platform Services are responsible for delivering the product roadmap driving new products and features through the development process. Our Platform Services group is responsible for the ingestion of hundreds of millions of messages every day from our clients, while maintaining our promise to deliver secure, resilient, and highly available services. You will work closely with a pod of developers, primarily located in Halifax, as you define and deliver projects and initiatives. Starting from initial analysis and requirements gathering, through development and release process, and into post-release, you will lead daily stand-ups and other agile ceremonies, groom the backlog, plan sprints, accept completed stories, while monitoring and reporting status.

To achieve this, you will collaborate with other Product Managers, Architects, Development Pods and Stakeholders across Global Relay's offices worldwide ensuring the delivery of complete solutions spanning across multiple teams and product lines.

Your responsibilities:

Working in a dynamic team environment, the TPM is responsible for:

  • Serving as primary product expert (functional, not technical) for the components for which you are responsible
  • Triaging incoming tickets and assigning them to the correct owner
  • Following up on status of projects, stories, tasks, dependencies and risks
  • Collaborating with and sharing status reports with the Product and DevOps Manager
  • Addressing impediments by working with appropriate stakeholders
  • Assisting with the generation of reports, Wiki pages, and other artifacts that provide transparency into project status
  • Owning the end-to-end responsibility for the delivery of their component / feature for Platform Services
  • Creating work estimates, tracking progress, and reporting status in the form of burn up/down charts and dashboards
  • Collaborating with senior product management, sales, support, clients, and other TPMs to produce and manage their component's backlog and contribute to the product roadmap
  • Lead the strategic development of new features and enhancements with ownership and development of a product roadmap
  • Translating product roadmap initiatives and feature requests into requirements, models, workflow diagrams, epics, user stories, acceptance criteria, and other suitable artifacts
  • Identifying and coordinating cross-component dependencies throughout the development process
  • Working with Product & Program Management, Development, and other departments to actively remove obstacles blocking progress and ensuring product initiatives are within schedule
  • Supporting Product Management, Marketing, Sales, Provisioning, Professional Services, Technical Documentation, Training, and Technical Support throughout the release process with training, documentation, announcements, and other release activities
  • Prioritizing and refining their team(s) backlog
  • Attending regular sync ups with your product manager and other TPMs in your product team
  • Leading sprint planning for your Agile team(s), attending daily stand-ups, refinement sessions, demos, retrospectives and other meetings with your Agile team(s)
  • Understanding the design, business logic, and technical architecture of their platform components and how those components interact with the rest of the Global Relay

About you:

  • 4+ years of product management experience in a technical environment
  • Background in computer science, engineering, business, or related fields
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with engineering teams, translating complex technical concepts into actionable plans
  • Solid understanding of backend systems, including microservices, databases, messaging systems, and modern platform architectures
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at all levels, including senior leadership
  • Experience managing technical backlogs and working closely with cross-functional teams
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies, particularly Scrum and Kanban
  • Proven track record of successfully delivering technical products in fast-paced environments

Nice to haves:

  • Deep understanding of email protocols such as SMTP and IMAP, and their related data formats
  • Experience with large scale event based microservices architectures, or technologies such as Java, Kubernetes, Grafana, Loki, Prometheus, Ceph and Pulsar
  • Familiarity with data governance, integrity, and lifecycle management
  • Experience working in SaaS, messaging, or enterprise software environments
  • Strong domain modeling, workflow design, and technical documentation skills

What you can expect:

At Global Relay, there's no ceiling to what you can achieve. It's the land of opportunity for the energetic, the intelligent, the driven. You'll receive the mentoring, coaching, and support you need to reach your career goals. You'll be part of a culture that breeds creativity and rewards perseverance and hard work. And you'll be working alongside smart, talented individuals from diverse backgrounds, with complementary knowledge and skills.

Global Relay is an equal-opportunity employer committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

We seek to ensure reasonable adjustments, accommodations, and personal time are tailored to meet the unique needs of every individual.
