Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering

5+ years of relevant experience in geotechnical laboratory testing and analysis
Strong background in soil mechanics and geotechnical lab methods

Your Key Responsibilities
Land development is a complex endeavor that requires understanding of multiple engineering, urban planning, landscape architecture and construction disciplines. It involves bringing the best ideas from each discipline and weaving them together to create great communities for our clients and for future residents. The details of the plans and designs must be supported by the local municipalities approving authority and working closely with their representatives is instrumental in the efficient advancement of the design and construction process. - Perform civil design using knowledge of relevant software programs.

Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Must have a thorough understanding of land development including site grading, sanitary and storm sewer servicing, water servicing, shallow utility coordination, roadway, lot design, as well as a general understanding of stormwater engineering concepts.
- Experience in the province of British Columbia is strongly preferred.
- Understanding of the life cycle of land development projects from the land review stage through to permits, servicing agreements, tender, construction and project close-out.
- Must be a self-motivated individual possessing strong written and verbal communication skills.

**What's the role**

This role reports to the Reliability Manager and is responsible for maintaining the civil infrastructure and underground systems at the Sarnia Manufacturing Centre. The Ontario First Nations Technical Services Corporation (OFNTSC) is a nonprofit organization that provides technical advisory services, training, and capacity development to First Nations communities in Ontario. The Civil Engineer position assists and advises First Nations in all areas of civil engineering, including studies, design, construction, and project management. Typical projects include water and wastewater infrastructure, roads, drainage, solid waste, housing and buildings, including schools, as well as project management.
These tasks must be executed in alignment with the culture and values of OFNTSC while maintaining strict confidentiality.
Responsibilities:
- Technical knowledge and experience in the project management, design, and construction of civil/municipal infrastructure projects such as roads, bridges, schools, water and sewage treatment plants, distribution/collection systems, and community buildings.
- Review studies and design drawings for compliance with legislation, codes, standards, best practices, and guidelines, and provide advisory services on issues related to capital infrastructure projects.
- Liaise with and advise Tribal Councils, Large First Nations, and Unaffiliated First Nations regarding existing and proposed projects, both capital and operational, and maintenance.
- Assist First Nations with the federal and provincial funding approval process for minor and major capital projects and operations and maintenance projects.
- Provide project management services through monitoring project status, including budget and schedule, and provide advice to First Nations
- Be aware of and apply current regulations and guidelines relevant to facility design and operation and maintenance, and construction, including health and safety.
- Assist with funding applications and the coordination of work once funding is secure.
- Assist First Nations with retaining consultants in a competitive manner once funding is secured through developing design terms of references and assisting with the design consultant selection process.
- Complete other special projects, as may be assigned, including needs analysis, training course development, and presentations at OFNTSC workshops.
- Review all submissions from consultants and contractors, including consultant proposals, designs, construction quotations, and tenders.
- Assist with Conference and workshop-related activities.
- Act as a Liaison between First Nations and government agencies and assist with obtaining various sources of funding.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree in Engineering (Civil or Structural preferred) and registration with Professional Engineers Ontario is required.
- Minimum of five (5) years of P.Eng experience.
- Project Management and/or public works management experience is considered an asset.
- Willing to travel throughout Ontario, and valid drivers license.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong ability and understanding of computer applications and software, including Microsoft Office.
- Knowledge of First Nations aspirations and culture, and experience with First Nations are considered an asset.

Job Summary:
Under the project and construction manager's direction, the Shift Engineer is responsible for construction work preparation including construction planning, document preparation, and submission field supervision of sub-contractors and workforce.
NOC : 21300 – Civil engineers
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Overseeing daily tunnel construction activities, ensuring adherence to design specifications, safety standards, and project schedules.
- Coordinating between various on-site teams (contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and consultants) to maintain workflow efficiency.
- Tracking daily progress, preparing accurate site reports, and communicating updates to project management and stakeholders using STRABAG inhouse software and databases (IRIS)
- Monitoring of material usage on-site, control inventory levels, and process requisitions to avoid shortages or delays with MS Dynamics
- Addressing unexpected site and tunnel challenges (technical, logistical, or safety-related) quickly and effectively.
- Developing and executing short-term and long-term planning to meet project milestones and deadlines using various specialised software’s like P6, Tilos and MS Project
- Knowledge of construction methods and materials to ensure compliance METROLINX and STRABAG quality standards.
- Understanding and enforcing health and safety regulations to maintain a safe working environment on site.
- Proficient in IRIS, liable of reporting and tracking the daily progress of SEM (Sequential Excavation Method) tunnel construction activities. Responsible for inputting accurate progress data, supporting efficient data analysis, and ensuring project status is presented in a clear, organized, and accessible manner. Enables easy identification of downtime or delays, contributing to proactive decision-making and overall project performance.
- Skilled at leveraging Dynamics to submit and manage material requisitions required on-site. Ensuring all requests are properly recorded and traceable within the system’s internal memory, maintaining a transparent and well-organized procurement process. Facilitates the creation of purchase orders subject to management approval, contributing to efficient cost control and material management on large-scale infrastructure projects.
- Competent in extracting and analyzing geotechnical monitoring data using IMA.EXP. Prepares graphical reports and technical presentations to assess ground movements along the tunnel alignment, supporting risk mitigation and informing the engineering team of any deviations or concerns affecting construction safety and schedule.
Required Qualifications:
