The Solar Technician will travel to job sites around the defined service area and help build and maintain solar, battery storage, and electric vehicle infrastructure. The technician must be competent and qualified to work on electrical and/or mechanical components of Renewable Energy assets.

What you'll be doing as a Solar Technician:
- Follow all Health and Safety policies to maintain a zero-incident workplace
- Complete routine safety documentation before every job including tailgate meetings, electrical work permits, etc.
- Technical troubleshooting and preventative maintenance activities to maximize performance/production
- Energization/de-energization procedures
- Follow and implement LOTO plans and procedures
- Interpret schematics and blueprints
- Quality assurance checklists and inspections to document deficiencies and identify corrective actions needed
- Follow OEM specific maintenance requirements in addition to company standards and industry best practices i.e. NETA MTS, CSA Z463, etc.
- Daily digital reporting and documentation of all work performed
- Work in ateam-basedenvironment and independently whereas necessary
- Participation in on-call weekend services on a rotating schedule
- Identify and provide feedback to issues and ongoing development of projects
- Willing to workovertimeas needed
- Keep the sites looking clean and safe buildings, vegetation, fences, gates, roads, etc.
- Ensure spare parts inventory is organized and clean

- Minimum 2 years electrical experience is required
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Post-secondary education with an electrical or mechanical base is an asset
- ABET/EAC certification will be considered an asset
- 309A Journeyman license an asset
- Knowledge of National Electrical Code (NEC)
- Valid Driver's License with suitable driving record
- Must be able to lift 34kg (75lb)
- Able to determine color codes

The Solar PV Mechanical Installation Technician works in a small team, assisting in the installation and repair of solar energy systems.
Duties and Responsibilities (Under Supervision of senior staff)
- Assist in the installation of renewable energy systems
Install solar racking on roofs using standard hand and power tools to a high standard of quality- Install and connect solar photovoltaic modules on racking
- Interconnect PV module wires
- Identify installation challenges and work with Lead to plan around them
- Job site errands
- Assist in the planning and preparation of installations
Maintenance of a safe site- Alert Lead of supply or tool shortages
- Get supplies and pick up orders from vendors
- Accurately track/label purchases and receipts by job
- Keep standard stock supplies refreshed; implement general maintenance on tools and equipment
- Assist in the troubleshooting of photovoltaic energy systems
- Run general errands and other miscellaneous tasks such as cleaning the shop, cleaning the van, deliveries, etc.
- Other related duties as required
Qualifications
Valid G drivers license and good driving record- Working at Heights certificate
- Lock Out / Tag Out training* (*will train the right applicant)

**OVERVIEW**
We are seeking a Licensed Trade Electrician to join our dynamic industrial operations team, providing continuous support to electrical and instrumentation systems in a demanding production environment. This role involves maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical systems including PLCs (Allen-Bradley), VFDs, instrumentation (temperature, pressure, density, flow), and various voltages (110V, 575V, 4160V AC/DC). The successful candidate will ensure equipment availability, minimize downtime, and maintain compliance with safety standards including LOTO and Arc Flash protocols.
The position works 12-hour shifts, 3 days one week, 4 days the next week, for a total of 84 hours in a two-week period. The position includes regularly scheduled Saturday and Sunday shifts and works two weeks of day shift followed by two weeks of night shift. All shifts worked on a Sunday are paid at double time, and all hours of work have a $1.00/hour shift premium.
**DETAILED ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES**
* Perform electrical maintenance and troubleshooting on industrial systems operating at 110V, 575V, and 4160V
* Maintain and troubleshoot Allen-Bradley PLCs, VFDs, motor control centres, and control panels.
* Install, calibrate, and maintain instrumentation including temperature, pressure, density, and flow devices using 4-20mA loop systems.
* Execute planned and unplanned maintenance, diagnostics, and repair of electrical equipment in a high-uptime production facility.
* Interpret and update electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, and control drawings.
* Perform preventive and predictive maintenance tasks using SAP CMMS.
* Adhere strictly to LOTO (Lockout/Tagout) procedures and Arc Flash safety practices.
* Respond to operational breakdowns quickly to minimize downtime and support production.
* Collaborate with operations, engineering, and automation teams to optimize performance and reliability of systems.
* Document all work and changes accurately in maintenance records and reports.
**QUALIFICATIONS**
* Valid Electrician License (442A or 309A) – Red Seal preferred.
* Minimum 5 years’ experience in an industrial or heavy manufacturing environment.
**DEMONSTRATED PROFICIENCY IN**
* Allen-Bradley PLC troubleshooting (RS Logix/Studio 5000)
* VFDs and motor control systems
* 4-20mA analog and digital signal systems
* Instrumentation for temp, pressure, flow, and density
**STRONG KNOWLEDGE OF**
* Canadian Electrical Code and ESA requirements
* High voltage systems (4160V)
* Arc Flash hazards and mitigation (Arc Flash certified)
* Lockout/Tagout procedures
* Experience in continuous operations or 24/7 facility support environment is an asset.
* Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, wiring diagrams, and OEM manuals.
* Excellent troubleshooting skills and a proactive maintenance mindset.
* Physically fit, able to work at heights, confined spaces, and in all plant environments.
**WORK EXPERIENCES**
* Minimum 5 years maintenance experience in manufacturing environment.
* Knowledge of SAP would be an asset
* Basic knowledge of Allen Bradley PLC’s

POSITION SUMMARY
The Electrical Technician is responsible for performing testing of various electrical components related to the bus manufacturing process. This role is also responsible for reviewing and interpreting schematics, troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing systems, and operating under strict safety policies, procedures, and regulations.

- Perform functional tests on propulsion systems, communication networks, and electrical components.
- Interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and process documentation to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair system issues.
- Work directly with PLC systems and Ladder Logic programming.
- Communicate issues encountered during the checkout process clearly and effectively to leadership.
- Maintain detailed documentation of work performed using tools such as Microsoft Office, Excel, internet browsers, and company-specific software.
- Develop proficiency in electrical, technical, and mechanical systems, with a focus on high-voltage systems (over 300V).
- Conduct commissioning of high-voltage systems in accordance with New Flyer checkout procedures, standard work instructions (SWIs), and supporting documentation.
- Provide training and support on electrical systems, including safe work practices, diagram/schematic interpretation, and programming fundamentals.
WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:
- Minimum of one year of experience in troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing low- and high-voltage electrical systems, including high-voltage control and energy storage systems.
- Strong focus on safety, with thorough knowledge of and strict adherence to high-voltage safety protocols and procedures.
- Experience troubleshooting and diagnosing both AC and DC electrical systems.
- Ability to read and interpret wiring schematics, engineering documents, and design-specific instructions.
- Understanding of PLC programming and ladder logic.
- Experience with CAN networks and J1939 communication protocols, including troubleshooting and diagnostics (strong asset).
- Proficient in using digital electrical measuring tools.
- Experience with vendor-specific and vehicle systems such as Parker/Vansco, Cummins, Allison, and Wabco (considered an asset).
- Successful candidates will be required to complete the New Flyer Electrical Technician Training Program, which includes classroom training, testing, and on-the-job training (OJT).

Responsibilities
- Assembly, inspection and test of electronic components and sub-assemblies, including: PCAs, wiring harnesses and test of piezoelectric assemblies.
- Product testing including; product characterization using spectrum analyzers, impedance analyzers, Insulation Resistance testers and Hipot test.
- Complete and maintain product build and test verification documentation. Assess product compliance to established quality standards.
- Maintain product documentation including assembly and test procedures.
- Support and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the manufacturing group.
- Operate within a dynamic manufacturing environment in a safe manner, adhering to all safety precautions and procedures including the use of appropriate protective equipment.
- Supporting and ensuring adherence to our Quality Management System.
Qualifications
- Formal technician or technology training from a recognized college or university.
- Experience in electrical or electronic assembly and test of components and systems.
- Soldering experience with good dexterity and the ability to solder IPC-A_610 and IPC Class 3 Standards.
- Experience with equipment for underwater use or PCB assembly and test considered an asset.
- Experience reading engineering documentation, wiring schematics and BoMs.
- Detail-oriented and well organized.
- Passionate about build, testing and producing a quality products
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment including safety shoes and respirator.
