**Who we need:**

Reporting to the Director of Procurement, we are hiring a Strategic Sourcing Manager to join our Procurement team. You will be responsible for sourcing ingredients including dairy, gums, flavors, additives, oil, colors and packaging materials for our Brampton, Ontario and Lebanon, Indiana manufacturing facilities. You will lead vendor negotiations, contract management, identify cost-saving opportunities, and mitigate risk through alternate sourcing strategies. As a sourcing professional with deep food industry knowledge, you will build relationships, develop market insights, and contribute to procurement strategies that support product innovation, operational efficiency, and growth.

This is a full-time, hybrid role, working onsite 2-3 days per week, including every Wednesday at our Brampton, Ontario plant.

**How you will make an impact:**

- **Lead sourcing and vendor management.** You will manage vendor relationships, lead negotiations, track market trends, identify savings opportunities, and secure competitive pricing. You will publish and maintain internal pricing lists and ensure price changes are communicated and implemented in a timely and accurate manner.
- **Collaborate across functions.** You will act as a conduit between sales, finance, and product development teams, aligning on customer needs, pricing, and supply availability. You will ensure accurate communication of cost updates, sourcing challenges, and changes to materials availability. You will provide input into costing models and support internal planning processes.
- **Leverage tools and insights.** You will manage sourcing data and analysis primarily in Excel, with uploads to our ERP system (Dynamics 365). You will support decision-making through accurate cost models and forward-looking market insights, including 3/6/12-month pricing projections.
- **Mitigate risk and build resilience.** You will identify and onboard alternate suppliers as needed, support contract administration, and monitor supplier performance. You will efficiently address urgent supply issues, drawing on trusted vendor relationships to maintain operations.
- **Support transformation.** You will strengthen established processes and reporting tools, supporting continuous improvement. You will participate in initiatives that enhance visibility, efficiency, and strategic sourcing practices.

**What you bring:**

- **The experience.** You have background in procurement or sourcing in a food or beverage manufacturing environment, ideally with exposure to packaging, raw materials, or specialty ingredients. You have worked with vendors, negotiated pricing, and supported supply continuity in a deadline-driven environment. Experience with bakery or food processing ingredients and familiarity with local and U.S.-based suppliers is preferred.

- **The sourcing and negotiation expertise.** You understand how to build supplier relationships and secure pricing through strategic negotiations. You are confident managing categories with limited contract volume and know how to prioritize vendors based on need, value, and availability.

- **The analytical skills.** You have advanced Excel skills and experience analyzing cost drivers and pricing models. You can interpret market data and supplier trends to make informed decisions and present strategic savings opportunities. You are comfortable using an ERP system.

**Position Summary:**
The primary function of this position is to lead and execute sourcing initiatives across global supply chains, focusing on supplier development, cost optimization, risk mitigation and alignment with organizational growth plans. The role ensures long-term value creation through supplier partnerships, localization strategies and continuous improvement in quality, delivery and cost.
**Reports To:** Head of Global Sourcing
**Essential Functions:**
Position requirements include, but are not limited to:
+ Develop and implement strategic sourcing plans aligned with business goals
+ Identify, assess and onboard global supplier for critical commodities and processes
+ Lead localization & new product sourcing initiatives with robust business case preparation and execution
+ Drive cost reduction through zero-based costing, alternate sourcing and process improvements
+ Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, quality, finance, production) to ensure sourcing success
+ Supplier negotiation and relationship management
+ Project management and localization strategy, quality assurance and technical know-how, lean manufacturing and continuous improvement, along with global collaboration and communication skills
+ Expertise in manufacturing process including fabrication, machining, casting and surface treatment. Hands on experience with GD&T, metrology and testing equipment to ensure first-time-right quality.
+ Understanding techno commercial sourcing of Electro-Mechanical bought outs & industrial equipment/instruments like induction motors, pumps, sensors, valves, transducers, control panels, couplings, seals, etc.
+ Skilled in managing strategic sourcing projects within budget and timelines
+ Proficient in lean tools and continuous improvement methodologies.
+ Steadfastly pushes self and others for results with a positive attitude and need to finish. Resilient under pressure and anticipates and removes potential barriers to success.
+ Reinforces and models decisions that support company ethics and values
+ Communicate in an articulate, compelling way with a core sense of purpose. Show the patience to hear people and adapt communication style appropriately for different situations to obtain positive discussion leading towards a favorable outcome with mutual consent.

**Qualifications:**
+ Must have a post-secondary diploma or degree in a related discipline (mechanical/production/relevant technical field)
+ Post graduate degree in Materials Management/Supply Chain/Business Administration
+ Industry process knowledge: APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning), PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) and FAA (First Article Approval)
+ Minimum of 7 years of progressive supply chain management experience in a manufacturing environment
+ Experience directly managing material procurement and associated suppliers
+ Excellent negotiation skills a must
+ MRP/ERP experience required (JDE, Visual, SAP, Oracle, etc.)
+ Intermediate level skills required in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
+ A strong team-player with experience working in cross-functional teams is preferred

This role is positioned for growth — as the organization evolves, the Senior Category Manager will have the opportunity to expand their leadership scope and play a key role in shaping the future of the procurement and buying function.Key ResponsibilitiesCategory & Supplier ManagementDevelop and execute category strategies across assigned food and packaging categories.Build sourcing strategies that support business goals for cost, freshness, quality, and sustainability.Act as the key cross-functional link between Culinary, Operations, Finance, and Marketing to align category priorities with business objectives.Identify assortment opportunities, evaluate supplier performance, and drive process improvements to enhance efficiency and decision quality.Build and maintain strong vendor relationships aligned with Goodfood’s values (e.g., local, specialty, and sustainable sourcing).Manage the existing product portfolio and identify alternative sourcing solutions as required.Partner with Culinary to support new product development, SKU optimization, and seasonal transitions.Incorporate customer feedback into category decisions and proactively sunset underperforming items.Supplier Management & NegotiationLead supplier negotiations and agreements to ensure competitive pricing, reliability, and compliance.Identify and onboard new vendors that strengthen quality, innovation, and sustainability within assigned categories.Monitor and analyze market trends, commodity pricing, and seasonal shifts to inform sourcing and pricing strategies.Drive supplier accountability through clear KPIs and performance reviews.Procurement Operations & Cost OptimizationOversee end-to-end procurement for assigned categories, ensuring continuity of supply and effective demand planning.Partner with buyers and cross-functional stakeholders to ensure accurate forecasting, efficient purchasing, and optimal inventory levels.Drive cost optimization initiatives through strategic sourcing, supplier collaboration, and value engineering.Establish clear KPIs and dashboards to monitor cost, service levels, waste, and quality performance.Risk & ComplianceProactively identify and mitigate supply chain risks.Ensure supplier compliance with quality standards, regulatory requirements, and company approval processes.Stay current with industry trends, market dynamics, and commodity pricing to inform category strategies.Partner with Operations and Food Safety to ensure products meet quality goals and audit requirements.Process & Organizational Improvement Implement scalable systems, tools, and processes that enhance the visibility and control of the category management function.Serve as a subject matter expert and mentor for best practices in category strategy, supplier management, and procurement operations.Support the continuous evolution of the team’s structure, workflows, and decision frameworks to align with business growth.QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, or related field 7+ years of progressive experience in Category Management, Buying, or Procurement, ideally in food, grocery, CPG.Proven experience developing category strategies, managing suppliers, and delivering measurable cost savings.Expertise in fresh food sourcing, especially produce, with a deep understanding of seasonality, quality control, and perishables logistics.Strong negotiation and vendor management skills; comfortable managing complex supplier portfolios.Demonstrated ability to lead through influence, drive change, and implement process improvements.Analytical and data-driven decision-maker with strong Excel/ERP proficiency (e.g., SAP, NetSuite, or similar).Curious and tech-forward mindset — actively explores and adopts AI tools or automation to enhance efficiency, data analysis, and decision quality.Entrepreneurial mindset with a hands-on approach and ability to thrive in a fast-moving, collaborative environment.Bilingual (English/French) preferred for Canada-wide operations.
