As an Speech Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) at Monarch House you will support the Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) team in progressing patient goals. You will work primarily with school aged children but may also work with pre-school children or adults. Interaction with patients and families may be virtual or face to face. You will follow the programming developed by the SLP and will be directly and indirectly supervised by the SLP on a regular basis.
Salary: $23-25 per hour
Work Schedule:
- Monday, Wednesday, and Friday - 9am - 5pm
- Tuesday and Thursday - 10am - 6pm
- Saturday - 9am - 4pm
Work Setting: Clinic and school-based

- Assist in the implementation of recommendations of the SLP treatment plan and carry out treatment sessions based on the specific therapy goals established by the supervising SLP
- Understand treatment objectives and stay within those objectives until the treatment program is changed or modified by the supervising SLP
- Determine the need for and/or develop intervention materials for additional intervention from the supervising SLP
- Document treatment sessions by writing progress notes that reflect patient performance and behaviours as well as any other relevant information, ensuring all documentation is aligned with the CBI standards
- Contribute to excellence in the patient and stakeholder experience, as well as the team through collaboration and maintenance of professional relationships, which do not exceed the support personnel’s role and professional boundaries
- Elicit, collect and record patient response data. Maintain confidentiality of all patient, family and significant others’ personal health information and other information disclosed during intervention

- Secondary courses in linguistics or language development
- Post Graduate Certificate in Communicative Disorders an asset
- Able to manage time effectively, independent, flexible, and open to community-based work
- A valid driver's license and a reliable vehicle for daily use

Hearing and Speech Nova Scotia (HSNS) provides audiology services to Nova Scotians of all ages, and speech-language pathology services to preschool children and adults. HSNS is funded by the NS Government to deliver integrated and standardized provincial services across 37 clinical sites, located in 26 communities. We are accepting applications for a temporary, full-time (1.0 FTE) position of Communication Disorders Technician. A CDT works under the supervision of a speech-language pathologist and/or audiologist to provide clinical support for clients with communication needs (e.g., hearing loss, speech sounds, language). Additionally, the CDT coordinates, develops, facilitates, and participates in community-based, clinic, and/or virtual caregiver education and screening activities to raise awareness and promote early identification. The home base site is QEII NSRAC and the position will also provide support to services at nearby sites if/as needed. The successful candidate reports to the assigned Manager. Requirements:
- Successful completion of a Communication Disorders Technician formal training program or a post-secondary program for speech and language and audiology assistants. A recognized diploma in a related field (e.g.,

JOB DUTIES:
- Provides quality family-centered care through assessment, establishing a clinical diagnosis and treatment programs to assist children/youth in achieving their maximal functional ability in the areas of communication, cognition and swallowing.
- Documents client-related activities and workload practices according to Childrens Treatment Centre and College standards.
- Utilizes therapeutic techniques / modalities as necessary in the provision of therapy and maintains client confidentiality and privacy.
- Communicates effectively and ensures continuity of care by making treatment decisions in close collaboration with the children/youth/family, other rehabilitation staff and other community service providers as part of an inter-disciplinary team.
- Educates the child/youth, family and other caregivers in the condition/disease process and specific treatment/intervention suggestions to ensure appropriate follow-through of daily activities and programs. The focus may be prevention, maintenance and/or treatment for the client and family.
- Provides clinical supervision within the disciplines scope of practice to designated support personnel and/or placement students.
- Provides equipment recommendations/prescriptions and/or refers children/youth to appropriate services.
- Acts as a resource/educator for the children/youth, families, staff, students, professionals and communities through the facilitation, development and implementation of education programs.
- Participates in the orientation and training of new staff members, placement students and/or volunteers.
- Pursues on-going professional development and growth.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Masters Degree in Speech-Language Pathology
- Current registration with the College of Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology of Ontario

Speech-Language Pathologist
- Location: Brampton, Ontario, Canada

- Salary Range: $85,000 to $95,000
Role Overview:
Speech-language pathologists diagnose, assess, and treat human communication disorders, including speech, fluency, language, voice, and swallowing disorders. They are committed to improving patient health and well-being in a multidisciplinary environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and evaluate speech, voice, resonance, language, fluency, cognitive-linguistic, and swallowing disorders through tests, examinations, and observations.
- Develop and implement remedial programs to correct various disorders.
- Collaborate in interdisciplinary teams to establish personalized care plans.
- Educate and counsel patients and their families on communication and swallowing disorders.
- Conduct research on communication disorders and diagnostic procedures.
- Supervise and instruct communicative disorders assistants, students, and other healthcare personnel.
Qualifications:
- Certified by the College of Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology of Ontario (CASLPO) and in good standing.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- A commitment to ongoing medical education.
- Proficient in managing diverse health issues across all age groups.

Salary: $45.52- $2.68
Summary:
The Speech-Language Pathologist is responsible for planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating programs to address the communication skills of pre-school and school aged children in collaboration with their families.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assesses and evaluates childrens communicative abilities using standardized assessment tools and non-standardized assessment including observation, interview, and review of medical and developmental reports.
- Plan and develop goals for speech and language services in consultation with the family and based on the assessment results and the priorities of the family.
- Provides direct therapy services to individuals and groups of children and their families to implement speech and language programs based on established goals.
- Provides instruction, guidance and advice to families, childcare programs, and other service providers on implementation of components of the speech and language program.
- Refers families to other community services and professionals as needed.
- Liaises with school teams, educators, community service providers, and other professionals to ensure coordinated and consistent therapies and services. Participates in interdisciplinary team and family assessment, planning, direct services and transition planning related to individual child and family services.
- Maintains related records and produces reports as required.
- Provides consultative and education services to families, caregivers, childcare providers, other service providers and the public.
- Maintains current knowledge on literature and research in the field. Provides up to date best practice information.
Education and Experience
- A masters degree in speech and language therapy and CHCPBC certification.
- A minimum of two (2) years pediatric clinical experience, with some experience in a community-based early intervention program.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- The Speech-Language Pathologist understands and can work effectively with children and their families to provide therapy and consultation services.
- They will have demonstrated strong leadership, instructional, written, and oral skills, and will be a committed team member.
Start Date: Immediately
Location: New Westminster and Tricities
Hours of work: 35 hours per week (flexible to be scheduled with supervisor, some evenings and weekends may be required )

SPEECH-LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST
Our clients include a diverse group of individuals seeking Speech-Language Pathology services in Hamilton and surrounding areas. Spark Lifecare serves a varied caseload of clients that includes Traumatic Brain Injuries, Complex Medical Diagnoses, Voice and Fluency issues, Autism Spectrum Disorder as well as Developmental Delays. Our clients are looking for therapeutic services for assessment and treatment of cognitive-communication disorders, speech intelligibility challenges, and communication skills related to a variety of needs and challenges. Our clients have a wide range of interests, backgrounds, and range of ages.
You would be the ideal therapist if you have 1-3 years of experience working as a Speech Language Pathologist and have a reliable vehicle to visit clients in their home or other community locations. Ideally, you have experience in the areas of language/communication delays, autism spectrum disorders, and have an interest in working with clients with a range of neurological diagnoses and enjoy working as part of a team.

Requirements:
- Registration in good standing with the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario (CASLPO)
- Valid Drivers License and access to a reliable vehicle
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and proven ability to work independently as well as with a multidisciplinary team team
- Computer skills (i.e. ability to work in MS Word and Outlook)
- Experience providing SLP assessment and treatment in a community setting
- Bilingualism, preferred, but not required

- Augmentative and Alternative Communication Clinic

Key Job Functions:
- Engage in the screening, assessment, interpretation and rehabilitation of individuals with speech, language, feeding and swallowing impairments.
- Participate in diagnostic clinics with other team professionals.
- Provide information and support to family/caregivers to facilitate an understanding of clients strengths and caregiver directed goal attainment and assist clients with funding and purchasing information for aids and equipment.
- Facilitate access to community resources necessary to promote the optimal level of functioning of the client and family/caregiver.
- Work collaboratively with caregivers and other service providers and educators to meet identified needs and enhance delivery of care.
- Maintain documentation as per CASLPO guidelines and FIREFLY policies and procedures.
- Supervise communication assistants which includes determining appropriate clients to assign, developing clear therapy goals and plan, as well as direct and indirect supervision.
