We are currently accepting applications for a permanent full-time (1.0 FTE) Physical Education Instructor to join our team for the school year to support our team at Janice McTighe Centre St. NE) and Thomas Buchanan Centre (75 Sunpark Dr. SE).

Key Responsibilities:
· Develop and deliver a developmentally appropriate physical education and recreation program for elementary students.
· Design active, engaging, and inclusive programming tailored to the needs of students with diverse abilities.
· Collaborate with classroom teachers to plan and implement gym-based activities, adapting for individual student abilities as needed.
· Coordinate and lead weekly fitness room sessions for student groups.
· Plan and supervise a variety of outdoor activities and support the organization of school-wide assemblies.
· Organize and implement the annual Sports Day event (e.g., Terry Fox, Family Days, Butterfield Acres)
· Coordinate special leadership activities for Renfrew Leaders.
· Manage and organize physical education equipment for daily activities.
· Order and maintain physical education equipment and supplies.
· Present staff in-services on the safe and effective use of equipment.
· Update and maintain general equipment information for school manuals.
· In collaboration with the Physical Therapist, facilitate group programming for students with severe physical disabilities (supporting EEP/JH/HS students), including activity planning, implementation, and documentation.
· Support the development of motor function skills, including range of motion, muscle strengthening, walking, and standing.
· Support the school's life skills initiatives, such as hotdog days and concession activities, and plan events to enhance school-wide celebrations (e.g., Colour Day, Book Week, Crazy Hair Day).
· Assist in the coordination and delivery of school assemblies.
· Develop lesson plans and an annual year plan, ensuring alignment with the Program of Studies curriculum.
· Support and help coordinate physical education and wellness field trips.
· Assist with the delivery of the "My Changing Body" curriculum and other components of the Physical Education and Wellness Program of Studies.
Qualifications:
· A degree in Physical Education, Kinesiology, Recreation, or a related field is required.
· Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience working with children and youth, preferably in a school, therapeutic, or special education setting.
· Experience planning and implementing physical education programs using developmentally appropriate and inclusive practices.
· Familiarity with adapted physical activity for children with disabilities, including physical, cognitive, and behavioral needs.
· Comfortable leading group activities, facilitating student engagement, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams (e.g., classroom staff, therapists).
· Strong organizational skills with the ability to plan, coordinate, and evaluate programming and special events.
· Design and deliver engaging and developmentally appropriate program tailored to the needs of each child.
· Must be willing to travel between program sites in Calgary (Janice McTighe Centre and Thomas Buchanan Centre).
· Capable of maintaining program statistics for purposes of evaluation and assisting in evaluating the effectiveness of programs.
· Must have a clean, valid Alberta driver's license.
· A reliable vehicle, auto insurance with a minimum $2,000,000.00 liability and driver's license is required.
Pre-Requisite Security Clearance Documentation:
· Successful candidates must provide us with a valid 'Calgary Police Check with Vulnerable Sector' dated within 3 months prior to their start date.
· 'Intervention Record Check through Alberta Child Services' is also required, however, we can support you with completing this during your onboarding.

DUCATION ET EXPRIENCE REQUISES :
- Doit dtenir une certification en fitness en cours de validit dlivre par une socit ducative approuve par OTF, telle que ACSM, ACE, NASM, NSCA, AFFA, NFPT, NPTI, etc.
- Doit avoir une certification en RCR/DAA jour depuis moins d'un an.
- Au moins 2 ans d'exprience professionnelle en coaching.

THE POSITION

Sportball invites energetic, enthusiastic, sports-oriented people to join our coaching team.
Applicants should have previous experience with sports and should have a passion for working with children. An educational background in Kinesiology, Early Childhood Education, Recreation Management, Physical Education or Personal Training is helpful but not required.
Sportball is a non-competitive sports instruction program that introduces children between 16 months and 12 years to fitness and the skills associated with eight different sports (soccer, hockey, football, basketball, baseball, volleyball, tennis and golf).
Candidates should be comfortable working with younger children including toddlers, as many of our programs focus on this age group.
All coaches are provided with comprehensive initial and ongoing training and support in Sportball methodology and program delivery.

Supporting and working alongside the members of the Canadian Armed Forces and actively preparing them to defend and serve our country could be your path to an extremely fulfilling career.
As part of a dynamic and dedicated team, as a Fitness and Sports Instructor, you will have the opportunity to lead Fitness, Sports and Aquatics programs for a very highly motivated and professional clientele. Daily, you will develop, deliver and assess Tactical programs based on established employment standards to ensure the members of the Canadian Armed Forces can safely and effectively perform their duties in operations.

QUALIFICATIONS NEEDEDEducation, Certifications and Licenses
College diploma or certificate in Physical Education, Exercise Physiology, Exercise Sciences, or a related field (in progress, completed an asset)
Current CPR and Standard First Aid certification
Current National Lifeguard Service (NLS) Certificate
Experience
In preparing and conducting physical fitness training sessions
In instructing health and physical fitness training modules
In applying policies, procedures, and regulations
In evaluating physical fitness
In aquatics such as lifeguarding or swim instruction
In officiating at least three sports such as soccer, volleyball, basketball, racquet sports, and hockey
In coaching sports
Competencies

OTHER INFORMATIONCasual position (13 hrs/week maximum) evening and weekend
Perform moderate lifting, carrying, pulling and/or pushing (i.e. more than 10 lbs/4.5 kg but less than 50 lbs/23 kg).
Successful completion of the Personnel Support Programs (PSP) Fitness & Sports Level 1 & 2 Courses by the end of probation.
As part of the selection process, candidates will undergo a physical fitness test (FORCE Evaluation) and must achieve a minimum level of Bronze.
