The Opportunity:

The SQL Server Database Developer is responsible for developing solutions in our SQL environment to support our business applications and BI Reporting platforms. You will have a strong understanding of business concepts with working knowledge in key technical tools. This position works within a team that has an impact on all divisions in the company and there is room for growth.

The individual will place a high emphasis on process improvement and logical problem-solving, using in-depth analysis of the problem statement and working diligently to build out robust reporting solutions. Furthermore, the candidate will have excellent analytical skills, an ability to summarize data in a simple manner and a desire to work closely in cross-functional teams.

The chosen candidate will be a critical thinker with the ability to work independently to complete a wide range of analysis while also being able to work in a team to collaborate and support on a wide variety of profit-related initiatives.

Key Accountabilities:

SQL Server Database Development (90%)

 

• Develop, test, and maintain SQL Server stored procedures, functions, tables, views, and triggers relating to vendor supported applications and custom written .NET applications.
• Create, maintain, and deploy reports in SSRS, PowerBI and vendor reporting solution.
• Champion the automation processes to create workflows with SSIS in order to manage the data warehouse.
• Automate processes and create workflows with SSIS.
• Use SSAS to design Dimensions, Measures, and Roles.
• Write complex SQL queries, functions, and triggers.
• Implement improvement modifications to complex and verbose stored procedures.
• Identify KPI’s required and add them to dashboards such as PowerBI / Analyzer.
• Use knowledge of SSRS and report design to create and deploy reports.
• Analyze and implement solutions to optimize slow performing queries or procedures.
• Provide support for on-demand data requests from user groups.
• Participate in team meetings to gather requirements and develop BI solutions suited to business needs.
• Provide data management support to .NET development team.
• Maintain documentation on system and process flow modifications.
• Perform after hours support and system upgrades when necessary ensuring critical
• systems/functions are operational.
• Performs other duties as required.

• Apply process improvement methodologies to process improvement initiatives, with an emphasis on AI and Machine Learning techniques
• Prepare process recommendation documents including presentations, process models, supporting metrics, business requirements and related impact analysis.
• Assist in the implementation of new processes with necessary stakeholders. This may include but is not limited to documenting all new processes, creating measurable goals for success, training end users, acting as point of contact for troubleshooting and ongoing process management.

What You Need To Be Successful In This Role:

• Diploma/Degree in Computer Science or equivalent professional experience.

• Experience maintaining complex SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, and triggers.

JOB SUMMARY
The Manager, Database Administration plays a vital leadership role in managing all aspects of gift processing, donor data integrity, and reporting infrastructure at the Foundation. Reporting to the CFO, this role is the lead administrator of Raiser’s Edge NXT and other fundraising technology platforms. The Manager ensures optimal system performance, data quality, and information security while also developing and maintaining analytics capabilities to support strategic decision-making and enhance the donor journey.

RESPONSIBILITIES  
Database Systems Management

• Serve as the primary administrator for CRM systems, including Raiser’s Edge NXT and other revenue-generating platforms.
• Ensure data hygiene and accuracy across all donor and gift records.
• Oversee report generation and donor list management to support fundraising and pipeline development.
• Collaborate with Foundation teams to define data requirements for events and campaigns.
• Maintain and integrate software platforms including CrowdChange, Asana, Importacular, and iWave.

Data Analysis and Architecture

• Lead the design and implementation of custom dashboards and workflow automations using Microsoft Power Platform tools, especially Power BI and Power Automate.
• Analyze internal fundraising performance and compare trends across the nonprofit sector.
• Provide actionable insights on giving patterns and donor engagement to support strategy.
• Recommend systems and tools for enhanced tracking, segmentation, and analysis.
• Champion continuous improvement and share best practices through collaboration with peer organizations.

Operations & Collaboration

• Provide on-site operational support during events to ensure smooth data capture and management.
• Offer mentorship and guidance to the Finance and Operations Coordinator.
• Perform additional duties and project support as assigned by the CFO.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Education:   Diploma or degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, or a related field; additional training in computer science, analytics, or fundraising systems is an asset.

Experience:   Minimum 5 years of database management experience in a fundraising or nonprofit setting, with advanced proficiency in Raiser’s Edge NXT; experience with various online giving platforms is an asset.

Technical Skills:

• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word).
• Experience with Power BI and Power Automate for reporting and process automation.
• Familiarity with CRA charitable receipting regulations, PCI compliance, and privacy policy frameworks.

Analytical and Organizational Abilities:

The Manager of Database Administration will lead the database administration team and oversee the strategic and operational management of database systems, with a strong focus on SQL Server. + Analyzes applications to identify risks, vulnerabilities, security issues and improve the system performance.
+ During a production issue, act decisively to identify the root cause and deliver an effective solution.
+ Maintains application systems that have completed the development stage and are running in the daily operations of the firm.
+ Start of day checks, continuous monitoring, and regional handover.
+ Develop and maintain technical support documentation.
+ Identifies ways to maximize the potential of the applications used
+ Assess risk and impact of production issues and escalate to business and technology management in a timely manner.
+ Ensures that storage and archiving procedures are in place and functioning correctly
+ Partners with appropriate development and production support areas to prioritize bug fixes and support tooling requirements.
+ Considers implications of the application of technology to the current environment. Identifies risks, vulnerabilities and security issues; communicates impact.
+ Ensures essential procedures are followed and helps to define operating standards and processes.
+ Provides evaluative judgment based on analysis of factual information in complicated and unique situations.
+ Directly impacts the business by ensuring the quality of work provided by self and others; impacts own team and closely related work teams.
+ Active involvement in and ownership of Support Project items, covering Stability, Efficiency, and Effectiveness initiatives.
+ Acts as SME to senior stakeholders and /or other team members.
+ Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.
Qualifications:
+ **7+ years of experience in technical support and experience in Java.**
+ **Strong knowledge of SQL, Java, and other relevant programming languages.**
+ **Experience with database management systems (e.g., Sybase ASE, Oracle).**
+ **Able to understand the store procedure to analyze the root cause of the production issue.**
+ Experience installing, configuring or supporting business applications.
+ Experience with some programming languages and willingness/ability to learn.
+ Advanced execution capabilities and ability to adjust quickly to changes and re-prioritization
+ Effective written and verbal communications including ability to explain technical issues in simple terms that non-IT staff can understand.
+ Demonstrated analytical skills
+ Issue tracking and reporting using tools
+ Knowledge/ experience of problem Management Tools.
+ Good all-round technical skills
+ Effectively share information with other support team members and with other technology teams
+ Ability to plan and organize workload
+ Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication skills
+ Ability to communicate appropriately to relevant stakeholder
+ Knowledge of tools like Jira, splunk, Git/Bitbucket, IDE

Bachelor's/University degree or equivalent experience
