What You Will Be Responsible For
- Leading the end-to-end project management of natural gas power generation facilities, from design and construction to operation.
- Assisting procurement in specifying electrical equipment and coordinating with engineering teams, contractors, suppliers, and stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution.
- Providing engineering recommendations and technical support for power generation and electrical engineering design, scope of work, and equipment procurement.
- Assisting with cost allocation/estimation, budgeting, resource planning, scheduling, and overall project management.
- Establishing technical standards for reviews, documentation, and designs.
- During the construction process, verifying that all equipment matches requirements and follows the design, ensuring all equipment and installations meet standards, and confirming all necessary tests have been completed and satisfy code requirements.
- Providing technical support for new site development.
- Performing power system modeling, analysis, and design.
- Monitoring construction progress, quality control, and commissioning activities.
- Managing project documentation, permits, and reporting for internal and external stakeholders.
- Resolving technical and logistical challenges to minimize delays and cost overruns.
- Complying with local, state, and federal regulations to uphold the company's reputation.

How You Will Stand Out
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or a related field); a Master's degree or PMP certification is a plus.

- Proven track record of managing large-scale EPC projects (valued at $50M+).

**LOCATION**

**RESPONSIBILITIES**
Evaluate, select, and apply engineering techniques, procedures, industry codes and standards to projects
Perform high complexity engineering designs including analysis, calculations, research, and equipment selection
Develop mechanical piping and instrument diagrams (P&IDs) for power plant systems including steam cycles, boiler feed, condensate, water treatment, flue gas, hydrogen, fuel handling, heat transfer systems, and utility systems
Prepare sizing calculations and specifications for major equipment including, but not limited to, boilers, condensers, cooling towers, tanks, blowers and pumps
Prepare mechanical engineering designs, equipment lists, general arrangements, aux power demands, and process flow diagrams (PFDs) and procurement packages for equipment/components
Check design deliverables in accordance with industry codes and standards, contract requirements and company standards

Power generation is the largest and most critical component in data center design. With power requirements ranging from 300MW to 2,000MW, we are seeking Electrical Engineers with experience in the design of high-voltage power generation systems utilizing turbine generators in conjunction with grid connections as well as power distribution to support data center loads.
The Senior Power Generation and Distribution Electrical Engineer will be responsible for the design, development, and procurement of electrical equipment for various projects. This role also ensures that all electrical specifications, codes, standards, and QA/QC procedures are properly followed and enforced.
In addition, the Senior Electrical Engineer will provide technical support and leadership to the electrical team throughout the design, construction, commissioning, and start-up phases of the projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate all activities within the electrical engineering discipline for the project.
- Perform detailed design, sizing, and calculations, and verify/check designs completed by others.
- Ensure effective coordination with other disciplines across all project phases.
- Review, check, and approve all engineering deliverables produced by the discipline team.
- Prepare key electrical documentation including single line diagrams, wiring schematics, datasheets, vendor squad checks, procurement documentation, and reports related to electrical system studies (e.g., short circuit calculations, time-current coordination, load flow, motor starting, and harmonic analysis using SKM and ETAP software).
- Contribute electrical input to the Design Basis Memorandum (DBM), Project Execution Plan (PEP), and detailed scopes of work.
- Lead the development of electrical designs for projects and proposals.
- Establish detailed engineering design criteria.
- Analyze vendor and subcontractor designs for compliance and technical accuracy.
- Review the work of others to ensure design integrity and consistency throughout the project.
- Take a lead role in the preparation of electrical Material Take-Offs (MTOs) and man-hour estimates.

- Design integrated fluid and valve manifolds to optimize flow control and minimize system complexity
- Design protective enclosures to maintain environmental protection and ventilation of process areas, including specifying ventilation flow requirements
- Support system controls development through pressure drop, flow rate, and thermal calculations
- Lead and contribute to DFMEA (Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) for components and systems
- Ensure designs meet necessary codes and standards
- Conduct HazOp (Hazard and Operability) studies to ensure safe and reliable system operation
- Generate design documentation including component and assembly drawings, P&IDs, to enable successful design review and fabrication
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Quality Assurance, Manufacturing, and R&D to support product development and continuous improvement
- Contribute to the development, documentation, and protection of intellectual property (IP)
- Partner with the leadership team to define project objectives, deliverables, budgets, and timelines
Your Qualifications:
- Minimum undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering
or related field
- Minimum of 5
years proven experience in designing chemical or electrochemical process equipment and systems
- Professional engineering designation is an asset, but not explicitly required.
- Proven experience translating prototype designs into commercially viable products
- Familiarity with fuel cell and electrolyzer technologies including regulatory standards and compliance requirements
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Excellent problem-solving abilities, with a talent for simplifying complex challenges into actionable solutions
- Project management experience is an asset, especially in coordinating cross-functional teams, managing timelines, and achieving technical milestones
- Must be legally authorized to work in Canada and able to work on-site at Ayrton Energys facility in Calgary
