The Opportunity - as an Account Manager on our Strategic Communications team, you will play a pivotal role in managing client accounts and driving impactful communications strategies that combine traditional PR with influencer marketing. Your ability to craft tailored, integrated campaigns will help amplify our clients messages across press, social platforms, and creator-led channels. Reporting directly to your Account Director, youll strengthen existing relationships, nurture new ones, and deliver meaningful results in todays fast-evolving PR and influencer landscape.
Scope of work:
- Manage a portfolio of PR and influencer marketing accounts, serving as the primary client contact and providing strategic counsel across earned media and creator partnerships.
- Cultivate and grow relationships with clients, journalists, and influencers, understanding their objectives to deliver integrated PR + influencer campaigns.
- Develop and pitch compelling storylines, influencer briefs, and campaign ideas that align with industry trends, audience insights, and brand positioning.
- Oversee the coordination of press campaigns, influencer activations, content collaborations, and events, ensuring alignment with client goals and brand voice.
- Lead strategic brainstorming sessions and content ideation, leveraging influencer-driven strategies to enhance reach and engagement.
- Analyze results across PR coverage, influencer content performance, and social KPIs, delivering clear reporting and actionable insights.
- Manage budgets and vendor relationships for large-scale events, press activations, and influencer campaigns.
- Stay ahead of industry and platform trends, proactively integrating influencer marketing tactics into PR strategies.
- Mentor junior staff, fostering growth in both PR and influencer management skill sets.
Your profile:
- Bachelor's degree or Graduate diploma in PR, communications or a related field.
- 3-4+ years of previous experience in PR account management working in an agency setting.
- Previous experience working with fashion & lifestyle brands including but not limited to the following industries: fashion, beauty, travel, tourism, design, food & beverage.
- Strong media and influencer network with proven experience building long-term relationships.
- Demonstrated ability to execute multi-channel campaigns (press + social/influencer).
- Solid understanding of content performance metrics, influencer ROI, and social media analytics.
- Excellent project management, communication, and presentation skills.
- Creative, proactive, and able to balance both strategic thinking and hands-on execution.
- Established media list and strong media (traditional and digital) relations within the lifestyle, beauty, and fashion industries and proven ability to secure impactful media coverage.

The Opportunity
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Vice President, Strategy, Research & Communications (SRC) will lead a team responsible for Travel Alberta’s corporate strategy, research and insights, and communications. The Vice President will support Travel Alberta’s transition to a destination management organization with a broader mandate that leads a coordinated government approach to responsible and sustainable tourism development and promotion.
This role will support the execution of a new 10-year tourism strategy, aligned with Travel Alberta's updated strategic priorities. The Vice President will collaborate and work closely with all business units, the Senior Leadership Team and Board of Directors, to set long-term goals, strategies, and plans for organizational growth. The Vice President will be accountable for managing all budgets related to tourism strategy, research, and communications.
Responsible for leading three key areas, the Vice President, Strategy, Research, and Communications will:
Oversee the execution and performance measurement of Travel Alberta’s strategic initiatives:
Ensure strategy development and implementation reflects current and ongoing situational, industry, and government priorities.
Monitor and report on corporate performance.
Drive a research and insights-led approach to industry development and decision-making:
Lead an insights-driven industry by delivering the right research and data to make informed, effective, and intelligent business decisions.
Strengthen stakeholder engagement and foster meaningful industry relationships:
Develop and maintain collaborative relationships.
Oversee the development and implementation of communication strategies with key enterprise stakeholders (Board, Government of Alberta, industry partners, colleagues).

Strategy
Drive the development of Travel Alberta’s strategies through the annual planning process, ensuring alignment with organizational goals. Facilitate ongoing reviews and updates while actively engaging the Senior Leadership team and board of directors.
Provide regular strategy updates to the Senior Leadership team and CEO.
Lead the planning, monitoring, and reporting of Travel Alberta’s corporate performance, including the management of the balanced scorecard.
Ensure plans and programs are meeting objectives by monitoring performance against established standards and objectives.
Oversee corporate reporting to the shareholder, including the development, review, approval, and execution of the organization’s strategic plan and annual report.
Stakeholder Engagement and Communications
Build and maintain effective business relationships with internal and external stakeholders to further advance key initiatives.
Cultivate and maintain relationships with key government officials, policymakers, and other stakeholders to foster open dialogue and alignment between Travel Alberta and its partners.
Liaise with the Government of Alberta’s Finance Ministry, Alberta Treasury Board, Office of Auditor General and the Ministry of Jobs, Economy and Innovation, as well as other government stakeholders as required.
Build relationships with other destination management organizations, industry partners, groups and associations.
Obtain input from stakeholders to support the development of strategies that align programs and policies with Travel Alberta’s strategic objectives.

- Lead crisis/issues management using escalation protocols and post-mortem reporting.

- Degree in Communications, PR, or related field.
- 7+ years of PR/communications experience, including media relations and issues management.
- 2+ years in a leadership or mentorship role.
- Proven success in developing and executing communication strategies across channels.
- Strong analytical skills with experience in measurement and reporting.
- Excellent writing and verbal communication skills.
- Hands-on experience with CMS, newsletters, social, and advertising platforms.

We’re looking for an enthusiastic and passionate intern looking to gain hands-on experience in public relations while being mentored by some of the best in the business. ChangeMakers’ Reputation Management internship program gives PR students and recent grads real, hands-on industry experience as members of a talented, collaborative team focused on solutions that help to engage audiences and solve challenges. We work hard to deliver meaningful results for clients, and also take the time to celebrate the wins together.
Our team integrates interns into all day-to-day client activities throughout the four-month internship period, across all of our practice areas. Many of ChangeMakers’ current employees began their careers here as interns and have successfully grown into increasingly senior positions within the firm.
Duties and assignments:
Activities may include:
- Assisting in serving clients in a variety of industries
- Media and influencer relations activities, including list development, outreach and coordinating opportunities
- Monitoring and tracking media and influencer coverage
- Writing and editing media materials, social content, newsletter articles, pitches and other materials as needed
- Preparing results reports and status updates for clients
- Participating in strategy sessions, team meetings, creative brainstorms and media training
- Supporting with planning, logistics and attendance of client events
- Conducting research for existing client projects and new business opportunities
- Other minimal administrative duties as assigned
