- Investigates and remediates cybersecurity events, incidents, and threats
- Security Incident Escalations
- Assists with the development and maintenance of information security policies, procedures, and standards.
- Assists with vendor risk assessments on technology projects, initiatives, and infrastructure by working closely with stakeholders.
- Assists with vulnerability management processes, collaborating with stakeholders on remediation plans to resolve identified risks.
- Identifies and documents existing security controls.
- Supports Information security compliance deliverables.
- Participates in the security incident response processes.
- Assists with disaster recovery and business continuity planning and processes.
- Acts as point of contact for internal inquiries regarding information security.
- Assists in the development and maintenance of cyber security metrics and Key Performance Indicators to demonstrate the progress and value proposition of cyber security.

Are you a bright law student who is looking for something other than the traditional law firm articles? Are you excited by the prospect of doing rewarding work that protects the public interest, under a new regulatory regime?
Engineers and Geoscientists BC is seeking an articling student to join our team of 6 lawyers in our 28-person Legislation, Ethics and Compliance department. The work is challenging and we have high expectations regarding work quality and attention to detail. However, we also appreciate that all staff have busy lives outside of work, and our articling students are no exception. We expect hard work from you during the day, but your evenings and weekends will generally be your own.
Prior students have gone on to a variety of positions after articling, including positions with other regulatory bodies, with government, with us, and to private practice.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
Analyzing issues related to the Professional Governance Act , S.B.C. 2018, c. 47.
Conducting legal research into policy, privacy, and governance issues and preparing legal memoranda, changes to our bylaws, presentations and reports.
Assisting with the investigation and discipline of registrants of Engineers and Geoscientists BC, participating in the drafting and negotiation of Consent Orders, assisting with disciplinary hearings, compliance with discipline orders, and privacy matters.
Assisting with files related to unauthorized practice and misuse of title by non-registrants and any associated court applications.
Assisting with occasional issues concerning external organizations such as the Ombudsperson, the Human Rights Tribunal and the courts.
The principal for the articling student will be the Manager, Legal Counsel Policy, however the student will have broad tasks that support the entire team. During the articling period, the Articling Student will be given training in ethics, practice management and lawyering skills (including research, writing, drafting, advocacy, negotiation and/or mediation, interviewing, and problem solving) as required by the Law Society of British Columbia’s articling skills and practice checklist.
It is expected that the Articling Student will be exposed to a number of different practice areas. The principal practice areas involved in the role will be administrative law, civil litigation and privacy law.
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE
The successful candidate will have an undergraduate law degree with excellent grades and immediate eligibility for enrollment in the articling program of the Law Society of British Columbia. Candidates should also have an interest in administrative law, civil litigation and privacy law.

The required tools, equipment, and technology for employees to work remotely are provided.
Free parking available at the office. Transit reimbursement is offered to employees who take transit to work; we are centrally located near bus and Skytrain stops.
