Responsibilities:
- Prepare and authenticate outdoor substation design packages, including ampacity diagrams, layouts, plot plans, bus elevations, ground grid designs, equipment/structure grounding details, control & power cable layouts, and control building electrical design for voltage levels ranging from 25 kV to 240 kV.
- Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to ensure overall design conformance.
- Perform engineering calculations and studies to support the design, including grounding, lightning, lighting, AC/DC load studies, station service transformer and battery bank sizing, insulation coordination, and rigid bus studies.

- Collect, interpret, and organize project engineering and vendor data. - Work with senior personnel to address potential technical and project issues.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers and designers.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized institution.
- Eligibility for registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) in a Canadian province.
- 6-10 years of experience in electrical substation design.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with high attention to detail.
- Solid foundation in electrical theory and mathematics.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

MHV is currently seeking an Intermediate Electrical Engineer to join our team in Calgary to support the substation layouts design group. PURPOSE OF POSITION:
The Codes & Standards Engineer position is responsible for ensuring that all IEM’s electrical distribution products and plant and field services operations meet relevant industry standards, codes, and safety regulations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The role is responsible for compliance with relevant industry regulations for multiple electrical distribution product lines. The position will support IEM’s expanding production campuses within the US and Canada. The Codes & Standards Engineer position will include the following functions:
- Provide guidance in the interpretation of technical language and requirements of various codes and standards (e.g., NEC, UL, CSA, ANSI/IEEE C37.20, etc.)
- Ensure IEM’s products comply with relevant industry codes, standards, and regulations, and monitor changes that potentially impact products and/or operations.
- Collaborate with R&D, Product Engineering, and recognized NRTLs to ensure that new product designs are aligned with testing methods and certification requirements.

- Familiarity of product testing and certification processes (Electrical Manufacturing Industry knowledge preferred)

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum 2-year technical degree in electrical/mechanical engineering or related science field.
- Minimum 2-4 years’ experience in the power distribution equipment or close-related industry.
