The Community Support Assistant (CSA) will provide supportive services to clients residing at St. Joseph's Care Group under the Home for Good Provincial Housing Initiative partnership located on Dawson Road. This position works in conjunction with the multidisciplinary treatment teams. The CSA will provide ongoing non-judgmental support and encouragement to marginalized individuals struggling with mental health addictions and homelessness.

WHAT YOU BRING
Education/Experience:
- Community Support Assistant training program or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Addiction/mental health training and previous work experience in an addictions/mental health field
- Current Standard First Aid certificate
- Should possess an awareness and understanding of addictions and be familiar with the recovery process
Skills/Abilities:
- Working knowledge of the Principles of Psychosocial Rehabilitation and Psychopathology
- Ability to communicate effectively and concisely both orally and in writing
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with superiors co-workers and SJCG staff
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Sound judgment good problem solving skills effective interpersonal skills including tact diplomacy and sensitivity to clients family members and other service providers
- Basic computer skills
- Demonstrated regular attendance at work
Conditions of Employment:
- This position shall be conditional upon a satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) where indicated, to ensure the absence of relevant criminal convictions.

About the Role
CASA Mental Health Classrooms are CASA’s new model for school-based mental health service. The program addresses the need for services closer to students by bridging a child’s mental health and school needs, through a coordinated approach by a mental health team and a teacher. CASA Mental Health Classrooms are delivered in partnership with the Government of Alberta, community partners and school divisions.
The Therapy Support Assistant will:
- Assist in the development and implementation of individual treatment plans for children or adolescents with internalizing and externalizing difficulties, using a variety of treatment approaches with a heavy emphasis on effective, evidence-based cognitive and behavioral principles.
- Provide daily psycho-education sessions to the classroom students using the Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) curriculum.
- Participate in patient-related meetings such as program progress reviews and discharge meetings as required.
- Implement therapeutic models of individual and group therapy.
- Participate in the case management of assigned caseload.
- Conduct phone calls on behalf of clinicians (i.e. to schools and parents) to gather information or explain strategies to assist the patient to be successful in school and at home.
- Assist in group facilitation, including co-facilitation or participation, set up and take down, observation and note-taking as required.
- Attend staff planning sessions, patient case conferences and patient meetings to provide information.
- Complete relevant electronic medical record documentation.
- Collaborate with teams to ensure treatment plans and reports are complete.
- Use Therapeutic Crisis Intervention as needed.
- Degree in social work, child and youth care, early childhood education or a related discipline such as psychology or social sciences.
- Related experience in an educational or mental health setting.
- Equivalencies of education and experience may be considered.
- Experience with mood concerns, learning disabilities, executive dysfunction and/or personality disorder traits is preferred.
- A satisfactory Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Search and Child Intervention Check. This would be the financial responsibility of the successful candidate.
- Ability to pass and maintain Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) certification (training provided by CASA) or Supporting Individuals through Valued Attachments (SIVA) training, as well as physical ability to perform all interventions.

ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking a highly dedicated and organized Education Support Assistant who is looking for an enriching experience to be part of the Fort McKay First Nation (FMFN) Education team. The Education Support Assistant supports the Post Secondary Education Coordinator and the Education Administrative team in the delivery and administration of the FMFN post-secondary education program and Education support services, available to Fort McKay First Nation members. Based out of Elsie Fabian school and reporting directly to the Education Director, this is a permanent full-time position, based on seventy-five (75) hours bi-weekly.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Assist in the planning, development and implementation of programs and services for the Education Department.
- Provide administrative assistance and support to the administrative team and Education Director as requested.
- Process all new student application forms and inform them of approval process, policy and guidelines.
- Assist with processing applications, student invoices, documentation and maintain accurate files and records for all PSE student files each semester.
- Ensure students maintain their responsibilities outlined in the post-secondary program policy.
- Update and maintain the PSE student database to ensure accurate records for all PSE students.
- Establish and maintain excellent rapport with students, and refer them to academic support services, as needed.
- Assist with new student orientation and conduct post-secondary student interviews relating to their progress, grades, attendance and if there are any issues concerning students attending post-secondary.
- Provide information and appropriate websites so students may apply for bursaries or scholarships.
- Assist with all reporting, data entry, filing, documentation, meeting minutes and administrative functions for the PSE program.
- Continue education through upgrading and review of current related literature.
- Compile and prepare data, statistics and requirements for monthly, quarterly and annual reports as requested by the Education Director.
- Assist Elsie Fabian school administrative team as required.
- Assist PSE Coordinator with email communication, correspondence and phone calls to track and monitor student progress.
- Assist with the organization and coordination of community education and/or engagement sessions related to education and the post-secondary education program.
- Other duties as assigned.
KEY REQUIREMENTS
- High school Diploma or equivalent
- Diploma in Business Administration, Education, Social Services, Career Counseling or another related field is required
- Minimum of one-year related experience
- Strong computer skills. Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office. (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc)
- Ability to speak either Dene or Cree language an asset
- Experience working in a First Nations community including knowledge of First Nations culture, traditions and values is a definite asset
- A valid Class 5 drivers license and Clean Drivers Abstract
- Criminal Record Check with vulnerable sector is required

WHAT YOU BRING
Education/Experience:
- Community Support Assistant training program or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Addiction/mental health training and previous work experience in an addictions/mental health field
- Current Standard First Aid certificate
- Should possess an awareness and understanding of addictions and be familiar with the recovery process
Skills/Abilities:
- Working knowledge of the Principles of Psychosocial Rehabilitation and Psychopathology
- Ability to communicate effectively and concisely both orally and in writing
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with superiors co-workers and SJCG staff
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Sound judgment good problem solving skills effective interpersonal skills including tact diplomacy and sensitivity to clients family members and other service providers
- Basic computer skills
- Demonstrated regular attendance at work
Conditions of Employment:
- This position shall be conditional upon a satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) where indicated, to ensure the absence of relevant criminal convictions.
- Offers of employment made to external candidates are conditional upon providing proof of a complete primary series of Health Canada approved mRNA COVID-19 vaccine or proof of valid medical exemption, prior to the offered effective date. If proof of vaccination or valid medical exemption is not provided, the offer of employment is rescinded.
- Valid Class G motor vehicle licence and adequate insurance
- Required to work flexible hours and rotating shifts
