Overview

PSWs are an integral part of a health care team, and in this role, you will encourage, support, and promote independence for patients in home and community care settings by assisting with activities of daily living under the supervision of our Personal Support Manager.
We are looking for Personal Support Workers (PSWs) to help us bring patient and family-centered care to in patients in the North Bay, ON area. Are you someone we should meet?
What We Offer
New Ontario PSW grads may be eligible to * receive a $10,000 bonus**
* From an approved PSW program in Ontario (on or after April 1, 2024)
** in exchange for a commitment to work with us, position for 12 months, payable at 6 months and 12 months must meet HFO eligibility and HFO eligibility status*
and an additional $0,000 relocation bonus***
*** when relocating to rural, remote or northern area and committing to working with us for 12 months, payable at start and 6 months

Closing the Gap Healthcare (CTG) is dedicated to providing Canadians with the highest level of care across a wide range of home-based and community-setting services.
We are looking for a compassionate and independent Personal Support Worker (PSW) that can provide excellent and empathetic care to our clients in the community. Our PSWs will be working under the supervision of our Client Services Supervisor and with our team of healthcare providers which will provide you with support and guidance. Bilingual candidates, English and French speaking, would be considered an asset. Candidates can expect to work mornings, afternoons and evenings when required. This would encompass North Bay ON, as well as it's neighbouring towns depending on weather conditions and availability.
What you will be doing:
- You will be making a direct impact on the clients’ lives by providing personal care, respite services, and assistance with activities of daily living.
- You will be working independently in the community but at the same time enjoy working with a collaborative team with the guidance and direction of an experienced supervisor – At CTG we foster an environment of lifelong learning and sharing best practice
Skills needed for success:
- A Personal Support Worker or Equivalent Certificate from a recognized institution
- Nursing students with at least 1 year of completed education
- Internationally trained Registered Nurse, Registered Practical Nurse are welcome to apply!
- Outstanding focus on client safety and ability to develop respectful working relationships with clients and families to meet their care needs
- Exemplary skills in delivering high-quality customer experiences
- A proven track record of being accountable for multiple deliverables, reporting, and high-quality performance
- Experience in independent problem solving and recognizing when support from peers and supervisors is needed
- Access to a reliable vehicle and Canadian Driver’s license is a must
- Eligible to work in Canada is required.

The Community Counselling Centre of Nipissing is seeking a dedicated professional to join our team in a dual-capacity role that combines family support services with group facilitation for the ReKnew Partner Assault Response (PAR) program. This integrated position offers a dynamic opportunity to empower individuals and families through advocacy, education, and trauma-informed support.
What Youll Do:
Family Support Responsibilities
- Provide non-clinical support to families facing challenges such as financial stress, parenting concerns, behavioral issues, educational barriers, and medical needs.
- Conduct home visits and develop individualized support plans.
- Facilitate access to parenting education programs (individual and group).
- Assist families in navigating developmental services, including funding, respite, and future planning.
- Advocate for families within systems such as education, healthcare, housing, and social services.
- Collaborate with educators, service providers, and professionals.
- Maintain accurate documentation and contribute to program evaluation.
ReKnew PAR Facilitator Responsibilities
- Co-facilitate group sessions for individuals mandated or voluntarily participating in the ReKnew Partner Assault Response program.
- Apply adult learning principles and feminist theory in group facilitation.
- Engage clients in dynamic, respectful, and accountable group processes.
- Contribute to reports for referral sources and maintain documentation in accordance with professional standards.
- Collaborate with the ReKnew PAR Coordinator and Program Manager to ensure best practices are upheld.
What You Bring:
- Bachelors degree in social work, Psychology, or a related human/social services field, or a College Diploma with equivalent experience and training.
- Proven expertise in adult learning and group facilitation strategies.
- Strong understanding of family systems, child development, and intimate partner violence.
- Knowledge and application of feminist theory and trauma-informed practices.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and case management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and electronic record systems (e.g., EMHware).
- French language skills are an asset.
Requirements:
- Valid Ontario drivers license and access to a reliable vehicle.
- Clear Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check.
- Availability for evening group facilitation.
