**Summary**
Work requires application of in-depth knowledge in a specific area of sustainability. May lead a work group or manage direct reports consisting of technical and support staff. The ideal employee will have a proven track record in sustainability program management, stakeholder engagement, and data analysis within a complex supply chain environment.
**Detailed Description**
Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:
Provides support to the Sustainability Director on the following key initiatives:
Supplier Engagement
+ Lead the development and implementation of a supplier sustainability program, including supplier assessments, audits and capacity-building initiatives
+ Establish clear sustainability expectations for supplier and monitor their performance using key performance indicators (KPIs) and reporting mechanisms
+ Engage with suppliers to identify and mitigate sustainability risk, promote continuous improvement and foster collaborative partnerships
Strategy and Implementation
+ Develop and implement a comprehensive supply chain sustainability strategy aligned with the company's overall sustainability goals and industry best practices
+ Support the development of overall corporate sustainability goals and targets
+ Identify and prioritize sustainability initiatives across the supply chain, including areas such as carbon footprint reductions, waste management, circular economy principles, human rights and ethical sourcing
+ Develop and maintain robust sustainability reporting frameworks to track progress, measure impact and identify areas for improvements within the supply chain and other areas as required
+ Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging regulations and best practices in supply chain sustainability
+ Support and engage in the development and deployment of corporate sustainability strategy
Data Analysis, Reporting & Engagement
+ Collect, analyze and interpret supply chain sustainability data to identify trends, measure performance and inform decision-making
+ Develop reports, presentations and events to communicate sustainability performance to stakeholders including but not limited the corporate sustainability report, operational reports (eg. working groups, working hours), awards and assessments
+ Engaged with additional stakeholders (eg. customers, employees, consortia) supporting sustainability program
**Knowledge/Skills/Competencies**
+ Excellent skills in Office Suite, Google Suite, or equivalent
+ Good analytical and problem solving skills
+ Excellent attention to detail
+ Deep understanding of supply chain management principles and practices.
+ Strong knowledge of sustainability frameworks, standards, and reporting initiatives (e.g., GRI, SASB, CDP)
+ Ability to work with a diverse set of partners, stakeholders, technologists, across the globe.
+ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
+ Knowledge of circular economy principles and practices
+ Experience with life cycle assessment (LCA) methodology an asset
**Physical Demands**
+ Duties of this position are performed in a normal office environment.
+ Duties may require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on numbers and other detailed data.
+ Repetitive manual movements (e.g., data entry, using a computer mouse, using a calculator, etc.) are frequently required.

Demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education may be considered.
**Preferred Requirements:**
+ Professional certification (PE, CEM, LEED AP, ENV SP).
+ Typically possesses a minimum of 10 years of professional experience within the environmental, energy, or sustainable design sectors.
+ At least 5 years of direct experience delivering sustainability outcomes in the infrastructure sector; experience with large, complex programs is considered a strong asset.
+ Comprehensive understanding of sustainability and Net Zero strategies, with a strong focus on decarbonization across Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions, as well as climate risk assessment and management.

- Maintenir la bibliothque de documents de Nimonik en mettant jour les informations et en y ajoutant du nouveau contenu.

- Delivering cost-effective, high-impact liability management solutions
- Developing work plans, budgets, and scopes for site assessments and remediation
- Leading reclamation certifications, regulatory compliance, and project closeout

CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS
- Diploma or degree in environmental science, biology, or related field
- Professional designation for sign-off in Alberta (British Columbia/Saskatchewan an asset)
- 8+ years of environmental experience with:
- Phase I/II ESA execution
- Site remediation & complex contamination management (Tier 2/Risk Assessment/Subsoil Salinity Tool)
- Groundwater monitoring
- Reclamation planning
- Reclamation certificate applications
- Strong project management: cost estimates, schedules, budgets, client engagement
- Proven leadership in team growth and performance
- Deep industry experience predominantly in upstream oil & gas (midstream and downstream a bonus)
- Strong regulatory knowledge in AB/SK (BC a bonus)
- Effective communicator with excellent time management and organizational skills

LOCATION
This position will be based out of Vertexs Blackfoot office (4240 Blackfoot Trail SE) or Sherwood Park office (161, 2055 Premier Way). A hybrid work schedule is available for this role. A hybrid role allows for flexibility with no mandated number of days required at the office location. However, Vertex encourages Project Managers to work towards office attendance with their teams 2-3 days per week.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
- Salaried compensation is commensurate with education and experience and includes:
- 11 stat holidays (applicable after 30 days of employment)
- 6 personal days provided annually. These days reset every calendar year. These days are to be utilized in alignment with Vertex s policy for personnel days
- A comprehensive benefit package is provided (50-50 cost sharing)
- A competitive RRSP Plan
