- At least 15+ years of experience as an Environmental Specialist in the natural resources sector in western Canada, preferably in a consulting environment.
- In depth knowledge and experience of construction of linear infrastructure relevant provincial and federal environmental legislation that impacts compliance in western Canada. Such as the federal Fisheries Act, Canadian Navigable Waters Act, Species at Risk Act, Canadian Energy Regulator Act and provincial (Alberta Water Act, British Columbia Water Sustainability Act, Alberta Public Lands Act) regulations.
- Demonstrated expertise in advising and overseeing construction phases of pipeline projects.

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability and willingness to travel to job sites as required.

We are seeking an experienced Construction Manager to oversee large institutional building projects, multi-residential developments, and low-rise housing in Nova Scotia. The Construction Manager will lead and coordinate construction activities across a diverse range of projects, ensuring they meet budget, timeline, and quality standards. This role requires strong leadership skills, experience in various construction types, and a deep understanding of project management principles.


Key Responsibilities:


Oversee all construction activities on institutional, multi-residential, and low-rise housing projects, ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and schedule requirements.
Manage project budgets, timelines, and resources efficiently across different types of construction projects.
Collaborate with architects, engineers, and stakeholders to ensure design and construction alignment.
Lead, mentor, and manage site teams, subcontractors, and suppliers.
Monitor and report on project progress for various developments, addressing any issues that arise.
Ensure adherence to local building codes and regulations for different project types.

Qualifications:

Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field.
7+ years of experience in construction management, with a focus on institutional, multi-residential, and low-rise housing projects.
PMP, P.Eng., or equivalent certification is an asset.
Proven experience managing multiple large-scale construction projects across various types.
Strong knowledge of construction methodologies, safety standards, and building regulations in Nova Scotia.

As our Construction Manager , you'll oversee active job sites, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to our uncompromising quality standards. Working closely with the pre-construction team, subcontractors, and clients, you'll be the driving force that keeps projects running smoothly, from foundation to finishing touches.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day operations on multiple construction sites in the Calgary region
  • Supervise subcontractors, trades, and site staff to ensure adherence to project plans and timelines
  • Coordinate project schedules, resolve on-site challenges, and maintain quality control
  • Oversee safety compliance, ensuring all work meets Alberta Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) standards
  • Communicate progress and updates with clients, architects, and internal teams
  • Monitor budgets and project costs, addressing issues proactively
  • Maintain detailed records of site activities, daily logs, and project milestones

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 or more years of experience in residential construction management (custom homes preferred)
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects
  • Solid knowledge of building codes, construction methods, and best practices in Alberta
  • Proficiency with construction management software (experience with JobTread or similar platforms is an asset)
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Valid Alberta Class 5 driver's license and reliable transportation
  • Ability to work full-time on-site in the Calgary area

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive salary at $80,000 to $90,000+ CAD annually, based on experience
