As a Quantum Runtime System Architect , you’ll work within the office of the Chief Quantum Officer to design the distributed hardware and software infrastructure that supports quantum circuits at runtime. Much like a classical operating system provides APIs to manage hardware and software interactions, you will architect a quantum operating system that controls qubit operations, resource scheduling, and system coordination to power Photonic's Entanglement First™ architecture.

WHAT WE NEED YOU TO DO

• Architectural Leadership : Own the end-to-end design of a high-performance quantum operating system that manages distributed runtime control and resource allocation for quantum circuits.
• Quantum OS & Runtime Control Specifications : Define and drive the architectural specifications for the runtime control subsystem, integrating hardware (including FPGA and embedded systems) and software components.
• Interface & API Design : Develop robust, scalable interfaces that serve as the API layer between the embedded control system and its neighboring hardware and software, enabling efficient communication and control across the platform.
• Performance Optimization : Work across the breadth of Photonic's quantum compute stack to identify, model, and evaluate opportunities for long-term performance improvements.

WHAT YOU BRING TO OUR TEAM

• Master’s or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science.
• 10+ years in embedded system design and distributed system network architecture. Experience in quantum computing, high-performance computing, high-frequency trading, or particle physics is an asset.
• Experience with sub-microsecond time synchronization in distributed systems.
• Familiarity with real-time system design and RTOS environments.
• Broad expertise across the technology stack, including FPGA hardware simulation/design tools, systems programming (e.g., C, C++, Rust), and high-level languages (e.g., Python).
• A demonstrated ability to tackle complex technical challenges and innovate within rapidly evolving domains.

The Senior Quantum System Architect is responsible for building system architecture design for silicon-based quantum computation. The architect is a deeply creative systems engineer with years of experimental quantum technology expertise. While many concepts from classical computer architecture – microarchitecture, instruction set, etc. – will continue to be useful, the many challenges of developing a quantum computing system will inspire new concepts and techniques. As a Senior Quantum System Architect, you will work with teammates with expertise spanning device physics, hardware, qubit control and error correction, classical computer architecture and compilers, as well as our silicon qubit processor team. Together, you will develop, prototype, and implement key solutions for our silicon-based quantum computer architecture.

WHAT WE NEED YOU TO DO

• Work closely with the Chief Quantum Officer to provide the technical vision for the team
• Design, model, prototype, and guide the implementation of new architectures for fault-tolerant silicon-based quantum computing
• Participate in technical reviews to coordinate and prioritize the projects to design, create, and integrate technical components to deliver fault-tolerant quantum processors 
• Design and model architectures that balance both quantum and classical resources
• Contribute technical expertise via collaboration with the Photonic team to tailor fault-tolerant architectures to real-world silicon devices and develop hardware towards fault-tolerance
• Explore how quantum devices can optimize key performance factors such as fidelity, connectivity, coherence, scalability, reliability, and efficiency
• Identify, model, and evaluate opportunities for long-term performance improvements
• Write patents, internal documents, and peer-reviewed articles reporting advances where applicable
• Support the delivery of technical communications to executives and external partners
• Identify and build collaborations with outside research organizations (government labs, academic groups) 
• Train, guide, and develop current and additional team members

WHAT YOU BRING TO OUR TEAM

• Masters or PhD in Quantum Information Processing, Electrical engineering, Physics, Applied Physics, or related field.
• 10+ years of experience in the field of quantum engineering
• Experimental quantum technology expertise in quantum optics, spin qubits, photon-spin interfaces, and high fidelity quantum control and measurement
• Deep expertise working at the interface of condensed matter physics and quantum information science
• Experience with quantum architecture best practices
• Proficiency in working with Python or other modern programming language
• Ability to be flexible and adapt to new situations in rapidly changing research environment
• Demonstrated ability to creatively solve engineering problems
• Outstanding teamwork skills

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop overall architecture of WFM systems to ensure the solution meets the client's needs, by understanding their industry-specific needs and developing tailored Workforce Management (WFM) deployment strategies, including the right technologies, frameworks, and tools.
- Provide expert guidance on WFM modules, including setup, customization, and optimization.
- Work with ADP customers to solve business challenges specific to their industry market.
- Partner with cross-functional teams, and end-users, to gather and document functional and technical requirements for the WFM system, ensuring seamless integration with other organizational systems (e.g., HR, Payroll, CRM, ERP) for smooth data flow and accuracy.
- Support the escalation process by addressing complex issues and ensuring timely resolution.
- Assist with sales education and coordinate training efforts relative to product offerings across industries.
- Assist in the creation of vertical presentation (industry market), including client-specific demonstration materials.
- Maintain ongoing communication with clients to monitor system performance and identify opportunities for system improvements.
- Act as an advisor to the Product Management group to ensure effective vertical positioning of WFM,
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
TO SUCCEED IN THIS ROLE: Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in implementing, supporting, or consulting on ADP or UKG WFM solutions.
- 3+ years of ADP or UKG WFM Consulting Experience.
- Deep expertise in ADP or UKG Workforce Management solutions, including configuration, customization, troubleshooting, and demonstrating strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Be able to carry on a mature dialogue with key client leaders to explain the complexities of the architecture of the WFM solution in simple language.
- Previous business services and/or business software experience
- Excellent verbal, and written communication and presentation skills are required.
- The capability to conceptualize, negotiate, and sell ideas internally and externally is essential.
- The ability to generate and implement concepts, ideas, and plans while functioning in a flexible, constantly changing environment is necessary.
- Must be a strong team player.

- Élaborer l'architecture globale des systèmes WFM pour garantir que la solution répond aux besoins du client, en comprenant leurs besoins spécifiques par secteur et en développant des stratégies de déploiement WFM sur mesure, incluant les technologies, cadres et outils appropriés.
- Fournir des conseils d'expert sur les modules WFM, incluant la configuration, la personnalisation et l'optimisation.
- Travailler avec les clients d'ADP pour résoudre les défis commerciaux propres à leur secteur.
- Collaborer avec des équipes interfonctionnelles et les utilisateurs finaux pour recueillir et documenter les exigences fonctionnelles et techniques du système WFM, en assurant une intégration fluide avec d'autres systèmes organisationnels (par exemple, RH, Paie, CRM, ERP) pour un flux de données précis.
- Soutenir le processus d'escalade en traitant les problèmes complexes et en assurant une résolution rapide.
- Participer à la formation commerciale et coordonner les efforts de formation liés aux offres produits dans différents secteurs.
- Contribuer à la création de présentations sectorielles (marché industriel), y compris des supports de démonstration spécifiques aux clients.
- Maintenir une communication continue avec les clients pour surveiller la performance du système et identifier des opportunités d'amélioration.
- Agir en tant que conseiller pour le groupe de gestion de produits afin d'assurer un positionnement sectoriel efficace de WFM.

POUR RÉUSSIR DANS LE CADRE DE CE RÔLE : Exigences obligatoires
- 5+ ans d'expérience dans la mise en œuvre, le support ou le conseil sur des solutions ADP ou UKG WFM.
- 3+ ans d'expérience en conseil ADP ou UKG WFM.
- Expertise approfondie dans les solutions de gestion de la main-d'œuvre (ADP ou UKG), incluant la configuration, la personnalisation, la résolution de problèmes, avec de solides compétences en résolution de problèmes.
- Capacité à dialoguer de manière mature avec les dirigeants clés des clients pour expliquer les complexités de l'architecture WFM en langage simple.
- Expérience antérieure dans les services aux entreprises et/ou en logiciels d'entreprise.
- Excellentes compétences en communication orale, écrite et en présentation.
- Capacité à conceptualiser, négocier et vendre des idées en interne comme en externe.
- Aptitude à générer et à mettre en œuvre des concepts, idées et plans tout en évoluant dans un environnement flexible et en constante évolution.
- Doit être un joueur d'équipe solide.
