We are seeking an experienced **SAP-focused System Reliability Engineer (SRE)** to lead reliability and performance management across our **SAP Digital Core Platform, including** **S/4HANA** and other tightly integrated enterprise systems. As a System Reliability Engineer, you will be instrumental in:
+ ERP Platform capacity planning & system tuning: Conduct detailed capacity planning, ensuring systems scale with evolving business needs. Perform system performance tuning and bottleneck analysis across application layers, databases, and infrastructure components.
+ ERP Platform incident & operational support: Provide expert-level support for critical incidents affecting core SAP systems. Partner with platform, infrastructure, and operations teams to maintain high system uptime and rapid issue resolution.
+ Application reliability & performance tuning: Monitor and enhance the reliability, performance, and scalability of SAP systems from a cross-application perspective. Ensure availability and continuity management at the application level across all integrated SAP landscapes. Drive problem management through root cause identification and preventive action, minimizing system downtime.
+ Collaboration with development Teams: Work closely with SAP developers and application specialists to co-design reliable, scalable, and maintainable SAP solutions. Identify and help eliminate technical debt through architectural and code-level improvements.

**We are currently hiring a Reliability Engineer to join the Maintenance team at our underground salt mine located in Goderich, Ontario. This is an on-site position. No hybrid or remote work available.**
Compass Minerals' Goderich Salt Mine, located 1,800 feet under Lake Huron, is the largest underground salt mine in the world. The mine is as deep as the CN Tower in Toronto is tall. The rock salt produced at the mine is used to keep citizens in North America safe as they travel through winter snow and ice. The salt is shipped to hundreds of communities around the Great Lakes and along the St. Lawrence Seaway. Some of the salt is trucked to the Compass Minerals plant less than 4 kilometers away, to be packaged for distribution and sale at retailers in North America. The salt is also sold in bulk to manufacturers that make plastics, detergents, disinfectants and other important products.

·   Apply various NDE methods (VT, UT, PT, RT) to monitor damage mechanisms and identify defects.

·   Understanding regulatory requirements such as Pressure Equipment Safety Regulations, and experience with maintaining ABSA compliance.

·   Experience with developing or approving ITPs for different repair and fabrication scope.

Position Summary/Objective:

The mandate of this position is to support Riverside's Asset Management Reliability Program at multi- site locations. The goal of the program is to ensure equipment at Riverside operates at optimum efficiency and effectiveness by the implementation of Best-in-Class Asset Reliability Methods.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate and Uphold Riverside's Core Values.
  • Understand and enforce Health and Safety policies and procedures.
  • Understand and enforce Riverside's Food Safety policies and procedures.
  • Asset Management
    • Support early asset management which is ensuring asset hierarchy, BOMs, and spare parts are developed in the CMMS on a timely manner. Print and apply assets tag.
    • Assist in updating asset data and key equipment manuals in the CMMS system.
    • Assist in building Preventive Maintenance Program in collaboration with Maintenance leader, Operation and Project Engineer
  • Spare Parts Management
    • Support spare parts management process including nomenclature, min qty, cycle count, parts return procedure etc
    • Participating in Continuous Improvement project involving spare parts
  • Life Cycle Management
    • Prepare performance report with KPI using data analytics tool
    • Participating in Failure Mode Effect Analysis and Root Cause Analysis to understand failure and propose engineering solutions to eliminate or updating maintenance program
    • Participate in overhaul, upgrade or design modification and update maintenance program if needed
  • Other Duties as required
  • Keeps the work atmosphere FUN by keeping it light and welcoming

Education & Qualifications

  • Engineering or related field student.
  • 1st year or up university student.
  • Proven desire to learn and PASSION for technical fields.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and AutoCAD.
  • Proficiency in Tableau is preferred.

The Opportunity

General Bank of Canada is looking for a permanent, fulltime Site Reliability Engineer to join the Banks Data, Technology and Innovation (DTI) team. Consistent with the growth trajectory of the Bank, this is an excellent opportunity for the right individual to contribute to building the Bank of the future with considerable potential for learning, growth, and advancement.


Reporting to the Director, Enterprise Computing Services, the Site Reliability Engineer will be a critical contributor to the companys evolution to a cloud first strategy and the departments shift to DevSecOps practices. This change will be supported by agile information technology (IT) and business practices, and the role will be responsible for managing the supporting technology that supports the Banks operations.


The Site Reliability Engineer will evaluate existing systems and their configurations, then implement changes in configuration, tools, and processes to increase reliability and efficiency. This role will perform both more traditional SysOps and DevSecOps related functions.


Position Responsibilities

  • Automate Operations: Develop and implement automation tools to improve efficiency of supporting in-house systems, including servers, SANs, networks, firewalls, databases, and other related technologies.
  • Change Management: Throughout day-to-day operations and management, structure and automate the implementation of system changes and backout processes.
  • Incident Management: Lead incident response including conducting retrospectives with support teams and writing Incident Reports.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other DTI teams, including Software Development and Support, Helpdesk, Data Engineering and Analytics to ensure seamless integration and operations of systems and applications. Ensure a focus on reliability and deployment efficiency is maintained.
  • Troubleshooting: Proactively identify and resolve system issues including troubleshooting hardware, software, and network problems.
  • Documentation: Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for IT infrastructure, including system configurations, topologies, infrastructure as code and pipelines.
  • Technology Trends: Stay current with the latest technologies and industry trends to ensure the companys technology remains competitive.


What You Bring to the Table

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field.
  • At least 5-7 years of experience in IT systems administrations and infrastructure support, including 2 years of experience working with an automation and integration focus.
  • Proven experience building and maintaining Continuous Integration and/or Continuous Deployment pipelines.
  • Proven experience managing workloads in Azure, including Azure App Services.
  • Experience working with Azure DevOps and GitHub.
  • Strong knowledge of operating systems (LINUX, Windows), networking configuration.
  • Experience using configuration management tools with virtual servers, high availability clusters and network appliances.
  • Proficiency in scripting (Python, Bash, PowerShell, Terraform) and proven strength automating provisioning deployment and scaling of systems.
  • Strong IT Security knowledge.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team.
  • Ability to develop others and learn from them.


Preferred Qualifications


  • Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, MCSE, Microsoft Certified Azure Administrator, Microsoft Certified DevOps Engineering Expert, Certified Kubernetes Administrator, Docker Certified Associate.
  • Experience supporting technology in the Financial sector.
  • Experience with GCP and AWS platforms.
  • DevOps Process enthusiast.
