Be a part of the initial team to grow and operate a regionally significant new underground mine development that is rapidly becoming the future of the iconic Red Lake gold mining district in Ontario, Canada.


Reporting to the Maintenance Manager the successful candidate is responsible to compile, verify, record and process timesheets, forms and documents. The Reliability Engineer / Specialist will work to safety standards and support the production targets on a locally based 5-on / 2-off, day shift schedule.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement Maintenance strategies for mining equipment (e.g., crushers, mills, conveyors, haul trucks, shovels, pumps).
  • Perform Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) for Equipment Failures to prevent recurrence.
  • Utilize predictive maintenance tools and techniques (vibration analysis, oil analysis, thermography) to monitor equipment health.
  • Analyze equipment performance data and key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate with planners, supervisors, and operations teams to optimize the preventive maintenance program and procedures.
  • Support the implementation and continuous improvement of the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Champion reliability-based initiatives such as RCM, FMEA, and Life Cycle Costing.
  • Provide technical guidance to maintenance teams on reliability standards and best practices.
  • Develop and maintain reliability engineering documentation and reports.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelors degree or RSE trade in Mechanical, Electrical, or related field (or related discipline).
  • Minimum 35 years of experience in a reliability or maintenance engineering role, preferably in the mining or heavy industry sector.
  • Familiarity with gold processing equipment and mining operations is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in CMMS systems (e.g., SAP, Pronto, or similar).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; experience with RCA and reliability tools.
  • Knowledge of condition monitoring technologies and techniques.
  • Certification in reliability engineering (e.g., CMRP) is an asset.

The Reliability Engineer will support and lead capital projects, maintenance, and reliability improvement initiatives at the Metro Vancouver Waste to Energy Facility.

A strong focus is required on improving plant and plant equipment conditions through the capital works program and through pre-defined maintenance and asset management strategies as well as thorough analysis techniques.

A key objective of this position is to improve safety, reliability, and plant uptime by applying the most cost-effective maintenance strategies using Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM), preventing recurring failures using Root Cause Analysis, and optimizing other processes related to maintaining these sites.

Key Responsibilities: 

  1. Facilitate Reliability Centered Maintenance analysis.
  2. Implement Maintenance and Reliability strategies and plans into Veolia's corporate Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  3. Supports and manages projects based on the Facilities Capital Works Plan.
  4. Supports in developing the Asset Register and Hierarchies.
  5. Develop and implement equipment reliability strategies, including condition monitoring, visual inspections, non-destructive testing (NDT), and equipment mapping.
  6. Oversee the implementation of predictive technologies, including vibration analysis, ultrasonic analysis, thermography, PdMA, oil analysis, corrosion detection, and dissolved gas analysis.
  7. Support the lubrication program effectiveness and the hydraulics improvement plan.
  8. Complete Equipment Criticality Assessments/Analyses.
  9. Implement a Bad Actor Management program.
  10. Lead technical incident investigations through Root Cause Failure Analysis (Cause Mapping/Fault Tree Diagram/5Whys/Cost Benefit Analysis) and implementation of recommended solutions.
  11. Perform Engineering Reliability & Performance Analysis/Monitoring.
  12. Develop critical spare parts strategies.
  13. Support in establishing Maintenance job plans including shutdowns/turnaround/outages.
  14. Contribute and develop standard operating procedures as needed.
  15. Support technical exchanges with service subcontractors and equipment suppliers/OEM.
Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Required Certifications: 

  • B.S. Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or related field).
  • Over 5 years of experience as a Reliability Engineer, Operations Engineer, or Maintenance Engineer.
  • Possesses technical knowledge and exposure in Thermal Power Plants or similar environments.
  • Possession of a Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional (or similar) certification, such as MMP, CMRP, or CRE, is preferred but not mandatory. 
  • Eligible for registration under EGBC is an asset.
  • Possesses working knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems and data analytics.
  • Highly motivated, dynamic, and self-disciplined individual with strong technical competence and excellent interpersonal skills, capable of working both independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Good communication, interpretation, and active listening skills, comfortable communicating at all organizational levels, and computer literate with MS Office, Google, and similar software.
  • Must be comfortable working at heights, in confined spaces, and wearing a respirator when necessary.

Working Environment: 

A permanent, full-time position is being offered, with a working schedule from Monday to Friday. The primary shift is during the day, starting between 7:00 AM and 9:00 AM.

The plant operates 24/7, and the selected candidate must be available to work evenings and weekends if required to meet operational needs or for emergency shutdown projects.

Must be able to work in a power plant environment, including exposure to noise, heat, and industrial hazards

Salary Range:

$80,000- $120,000 + eligible for company annual bonus program

The opportunity
An exciting opportunity exists in our Asset Integrity department within the Metals division for a Reliability Engineer located in Fort Saskatchewan, AB. The purpose of this position is to support the development and execution of the asset integrity strategy by applying reliability tools and technologies to address reliability, availability, and maintainability challenges, thereby enabling the Fort Site to achieve its asset management objectives.

In this role, you will be accountable for:

Skills and attributes for success:
  • Professional engineering designation (P.Eng.) and certifications in Reliability or Asset Management such as MMP, CAMP, CAMA, or CMRP.

Location: Medicine Hat, AB

Mechanical Integrity & QA/QC.

Experience with inspection, repair and alteration of fixed equipment: pressure vessels, heat exchangers, piping, storage tanks, valves, PRDs, boilers etc.

API 510 and API 570 certifications.

Apply various NDE methods (VT, UT, PT, RT) to monitor damage mechanisms and identify defects.

Understanding regulatory requirements such as Pressure Equipment Safety Regulations, and experience with maintaining ABSA compliance.

Field experience in turnarounds, shutdowns, and repair coordination

Experience with developing or approving ITPs for different repair and fabrication scope.

P.ENG or P.ENG (in progress).

3-5+ years in reliability engineering, mechanical integrity, asset integrity, quality assurance in an industrial setting. (O&G/ Chemical Manufacturing)

Compensation:

Dependant on experience $130-150K (open to hearing from outside range).

# **Job Summary**

As a **Reliability Engineer** you will work in focus areas such as observability, release automation, incident and problem response improvements, security, code quality, patch management and SRE advocacy. You will have the opportunity to use the latest and greatest cloud and open-source technology to enable our product and test engineering teams through solutions, self-service capabilities, support, and guidance.

- Design, build, and maintain automation for infrastructure, monitoring, and operations
- Write high-quality, maintainable code to improve reliability and reduce toil
- Build observability into systems from the ground up; make failure visible and actionable
- Evaluate and integrate open-source and commercial tools to increase stability and insight
- Collaborate with product teams to ensure systems are instrumented, secure, and resilient
- Document and share your work with the team and broader SRE community
- Champion a culture of ownership, transparency, and continuous improvement

- **3–5 years** of experience in SRE, DevOps, Platform, Infrastructure, or Software Engineering roles.
- Strong foundational skills in infrastructure, automation, or software engineering.
- The ability to work independently on moderately complex problems while seeking guidance for strategic decisions.
- A desire to grow into senior engineering or technical leadership roles over time.

Our technology stack is primarily cloud-based, and while we currently use **AWS**, we welcome experience with **Azure, Google Cloud, or other cloud platforms**. A strong understanding of cloud-native principles matters more than specific provider experience. We value tools and practices that promote **automation, containerization, repeatability, and visibility**.
