The Opportunity
Reporting to the AVP, Actuarial, the Actuarial Technical lead executes complex actuarial duties by analyzing data, building models and preparing reports to aid in pricing and risk assessments independently. This role will focus on executing short term goals particularly with regards to pricing and risk assessments. The Actuarial Technical Lead will maintain high levels of data accuracy, integrity and consistency, acting as a technical resource for team members to provide technical guidance and insights to analysts in other departments as well.
As the successful candidate, you will:
- Provide technical guidance and support to the actuarial team in developing rating models for different line of business.
- Engage with leadership and analysts from other departments, presenting actuarial modelling and acting as a subject matter expert.
- Support the leadership team to estimate the impact arising from reserving practise changes and regulatory reforms.
- Review performance against targets, perform root cause analysis and provide recommendations for action to address the underlying issues.
- Use catastrophe models to support decision making.
- Develop and review rate monitoring processes and track technical rate deviations
- Research external benchmarks for dealing with low credibility lines.
Your Skills and Qualifications
- You have a Bachelor’s Degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics or Statistics.
- You have a minimum of 5 years of prior experience in Property and Casualty actuarial field, with a minimum of 2 years in Reinsurance pricing.
- You have completed a minimum of 6 actuarial P&C exams towards your designation.
- You have excellent communication skills along with exceptional interpersonal skills to develop deep-rooted relationships, influence change and exhibit a collaborative leadership style.
- You hold strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills, and the ability to prioritize competing demands and projects.
- You have strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- You have experience using SQL, Python or other programming language.
- You have some prior experience using CAT models to evaluate risk

Our vision: A community where everyone has access to nutritious food.
Souper Heroes is a fundraising initiative that is well supported by volunteers. The Souper Heroes Lead role is to ensure that volunteers have access to the resources that they need to promote both sales of soup and The SEED's work in the community overall. It is a very collaborative position with shared responsibilities.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop an annual plan in partnership with The SEED Manager
Lead The SEED's Souper Heroes community fundraising efforts, including:
Manage schedule of craft markets and in-person sales opportunities in October-December
Assist in the planning of soup packing and sourcing ingredients to ensure adequate stock
- maintaining inventory of supplies and raw ingredients
Delivering and managing wholesale and other bulk orders
Lead a team of volunteers, including recruitment and training
- Evaluate and track the successes, opportunities, and weaknesses of the program
- Problem solve and share information, working in a team with other SEED staff and volunteers

+ You will plan, schedule, and estimate design engineering effort on projects from the conception of project design to issue of all drawings and specifications for construction.

+ At least 2 years experience as a Project Lead dealing directly with clients and other project stakeholders;
+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills, act as main contact with the client;
+ Experience directly dealing with clients coordinating meetings, creating project status reports and dealing with different groups, stakeholders and disciplines;
+ Proven ability to produce high quality work while facing competing priorities and strict deadlines;
+ Proven independent project leader;
+ Ability to prioritize activities, adapt to change, and stay focused in a dynamic environment;
+ Demonstrated skills on concept and developed design optimization programs to guide sound technical guidance for decision making;
