Job Description

The technical director (TD) will ensure the quality of the technical content produced by their working unit. The incumbent must optimize team productivity through pipeline processes by taking online user needs into account. The TD will carry out his tasks by adequately determining project needs, implementing effective tools and methods to maximize data integration in the game engine and provide technical support for their team.

The main and routine tasks of the technical director are to:

  • Define their team’s technical needs to carry out the creative vision (design and artistic) by validating the game features and challenging the interpretation to assess technical feasibility.
  • Acquire the best internal and external tools, in collaboration with the programming team and other project TDs, to enhance and facilitate the work of the working unit by supervising feasibility of technological elements, asking that existing tools be adjusted, requesting new tools, or validating the effectiveness of the tools provided before they are deployed on the project.
  • Establish the vision for the best work methods and data structure (data and assets) to standardize work methods and ensure the validity and integrity of the data (meet standards and minimize debugging) by validating or drafting pipeline documents and setting out a common classification system.
  • Determine enhancements and resolve issues in close collaboration with programmers to provide technical support to the working unit and to empower specialists in its domain.
  • Remain informed of new technical and technological developments to be able to apply these developments on the project whenever relevant and share project developments with peers (TDs on other projects and in other working units).
  • Help plan the work in collaboration with the person who oversees planning based on the scope of each task and the impact of the working unit to establish a compromise between quality objectives and delivery constraints (time, costs, resources, etc.).
  • Follow up on the tasks of associate TDs (if applicable) to assess the progress of the deliverables and coach TDs to ensure that their careers progress.
  • Contribute to external tools selection (engine, plug-in, E-confluence, etc.) to ensure that working units’ needs are considered by assessing existing tools and helping to design and test new tools whenever necessary.
  • Driving the optimization and debugging to fix the issues raised in his field of expertise.

Qualifications

Training

  • Diploma in their working unit for game design or equivalent.
  • Relevant Experience
  • Minimum 5 ears’ experience in the video game sector or other relevant experiences.
  • Experience in their working unit at all game production phases.
  • Experience on 2-3 games productions.
  •  Experience as an associate TD an asset.
  • In-depth knowledge of game engines (e.g. Unity or Unreal) & their limitations, the Microsoft Office suite (especially Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio) and the Adobe Suite (especially Photoshop)
  • Familiarity with bug tracking software (e.g. Jira), version management systems (e.g. Perforce), and basic programming

Role Summary:

The Technical Design Authority can be allocated to 1 or more existing customer accounts to support the customer after and during the delivery. The customer will see the Design Engineer as “the subject matter expert” for technical advice and consultancy on any security topic.

In this role the candidate can be requested to occasionally work at customer premises.

This is a flexible role within a team of highly skilled architects covering a broad range of technologies including LAN/WAN, Voice, Network & Information Security, Internet Services and UC Services.


Required Experience/Qualifications:

• Minimum 4 years’ experience in the network security industry.

• Develop design solutions (physical and logical) that follow engineering best practices

• Demonstrated knowledge of Fortinet, Palo Alto security design concepts, implementation and support.

• Demonstrable experience of working autonomously in a multi-vendor enterprise scale environment. Working knowledge and/or general understanding of technology methodologies such as ITIL V3.

We are seeking a talented and detail-oriented Technical Architectural Designer  to join our Store Planning team. In this role, you will play a key part in preparing technical drawings and interior layout details for our retail stores, ensuring compliance with design standards, landlord requirements, and local building regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare detailed technical drawings for retail store interiors using AutoCAD.
  • Implement pre-approved design concepts into assigned interior spaces (non-load-bearing construction).
  • Apply and ensure compliance with landlord design criteria and Level of Detail (LOD) requirements.
  • Produce drawings required for building permit applications.
  • Perform material take-offs and calculate required quantities.
  • Prepare documentation for fixture and equipment procurement.
  • Ensure construction drawings accurately reflect brand book guidelines and design team directives, and that final IFC, IFT, and IFP drawing sets are consistent and ready for the project management team.
  • Coordinate with external consultants to ensure alignment with brand standards.

  • Work closely with internal teams (IT, Loss Prevention, Marketing, Visual Merchandising) to ensure full coordination across all build aspects.

Qualifications

The technical director level design will ensure the quality of the technical content produced by their working unit. The incumbent must optimize team productivity through pipeline processes by taking online user needs into account. The TD will carry out his tasks by adequately determining project needs, implementing effective tools and methods to maximize data integration in the game engine and provide technical support for their team.

The main and routine tasks of the technical director are to:

  • Define their team’s technical needs to carry out the creative vision (design and artistic) by validating the game features and challenging the interpretation to assess technical feasibility.
  • Acquire the best internal and external tools, in collaboration with the programming team and other project TDs, to enhance and facilitate the work of the working unit by supervising feasibility of technological elements, asking that existing tools be adjusted, requesting new tools, or validating the effectiveness of the tools provided before they are deployed on the project.
  • Establish the vision for the best work methods and data structure (data and assets) to standardize work methods and ensure the validity and integrity of the data (meet standards and minimize debugging) by validating or drafting pipeline documents and setting out a common classification system.
  • Determine enhancements and resolve issues in close collaboration with programmers to provide technical support to the working unit and to empower specialists in its domain.
  • Remain informed of new technical and technological developments to be able to apply these developments on the project whenever relevant and share project developments with peers (TDs on other projects and in other working units).
  • Help plan the work in collaboration with the person who oversees planning based on the scope of each task and the impact of the working unit to establish a compromise between quality objectives and delivery constraints (time, costs, resources, etc.).
  • Follow up on the tasks of associate TDs (if applicable) to assess the progress of the deliverables and coach TDs to ensure that their careers progress.
  • Contribute to external tools selection (engine, plug-in, E-confluence, etc.) to ensure that working units’ needs are considered by assessing existing tools and helping to design and test new tools whenever necessary.
  • Driving the optimization and debugging to fix the issues raised in his field of expertise.
  • Carry out all other related task
Qualifications

Training

  • Diploma in their working unit for game design or equivalent.
  • Relevant Experience
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in the video game sector or other relevant experiences.
  • Experience in their working unit at all game production phases.
  • Experience on 2-3 games productions.
  •  Experience as an associate TD an asset.
  • In-depth knowledge of game engines (e.g. Unity or Unreal) & their limitations, the Microsoft Office suite (especially Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio) and the Adobe Suite (especially Photoshop)
  • Familiarity with bug tracking software (e.g. Jira), version management systems (e.g. Perforce), and basic programming

GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY

Reporting to the Director of Engineering, the Manager of Design and Construction is accountable for the management of the Design and Construction Section and has a broad mandate for the provision of engineering services to other departments of the Engineering Services Division and to other Divisions within the City. TheManager is charged with the responsibility of providing all the functions necessary to meet this mandate including in-house surveying and drafting as required, development of design criteria and construction standards, selection of consultants, project management from design through construction, and management of environmental services and the regulatory approvals.

The Design and Construction Section has a staff function rather than a line function. May be responsible for initiating capital programs while providing technical and environmental advice and engineering services to the other department managers at their request. In the course of providing the most efficient and effective service possible theManager will make use of dedicated staff, consultants, contracts or other municipal departments as necessary without diminished responsibility for achievement of the Departmental mandate.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Manages the Design and Construction Section with responsibility for the recruitment, selection, motivation, training,performance and discipline of staff and the maintenance of safe working practices. Manages personnel require mentsso as to balance the work load as much as possible.Directs the provision of engineering and project management for the Engineering Services Division.Develops and submits annual capital budgets for the Design and Construction Section and administers approved budgets to ensure cost control and effective utilization of resources.Reviews drafting, survey, engineering, project management, and environmental services work programs for the best method of service delivery. Where appropriate, arranges for alternative methods of service delivery. Monitors alternative providers and ensures that the service is effective and meets municipal standards.Where service is to be provided by municipal staff, plans, organizes, directs and controls to ensure that the work is performed in a timely, efficient and cost effective manner.As part of a management team reporting to the Director of Engineering, assists in the establishment of objectives, priorities, policies and procedures for the Engineering Division.Develops and administers priorities, policies and procedures for the Design and Construction Section and ensures that the Section meets goals and objectives established by the Director of Engineering.Establishes and maintains effective communication and coordination with other organizational units in the municipality and with outside agencies and the public where appropriate.Promotes a service ethic within the Section and ensures that the Section’s response to public service requests is friendly, timely and effective.

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES
