Key responsibilities
Technical coordination & customer service
- Manage and prioritize requests from the technical support inbox
- Communicate with clients to clarify needs and plan coordination calls
- Take meeting notes and draft action plans with deadlines and responsibilities
Tool development & project tracking
- Coordinate tool creation with plants in St-Eustache and Tennessee
- Track internal/external tooling requests and project timelines
- Lead kick-off meetings for new or replacement tools
Maritime support

Product & data management

The Sales Engineer will execute on all aspects of sales demonstrations - whether onsite, at conferences, or virtually - to articulate the Assent value proposition in the most compelling way. Key Requirements & Responsibilities
- Create and deliver impactful demonstrations for customers and prospects (both virtual and in-person), as well as supporting materials to facilitate sales.
- In collaboration with Account Executives, guide customers through their product options and prescribe solutions based on their needs.
- Develop strong relationships with Sales and Product teams as a trusted advisor to facilitate solution improvements.

We are hiring a Sales Engineer to join our team!
As a Sales Engineer, you will be the technical expert in the sales process and the internal technical voice of prospects.
You'll be able to blend business acumen, technical knowledge, and persuasion together while dealing with novel questions, understanding the pain points of prospects, and creating a compelling solution story on the fly.
Our Spare HQ is in Vancouver - BC, that said, this position is open to remote work options across Canada. If you like coming into an office, you can work from our HQ as desired, and we also provide a co-working stipend for those who wish to work in an office outside Vancouver.
The salary provided is the OTE salary in CAD (base + commission).
The salary range listed reflects both intermediate and senior levels. Your placement within this range will depend on your experience and performance throughout our selection process, ensuring parity across our team.
About this role
In this role, you will.
- Act as a technical expert throughout the sales cycle: Partner closely with Account Executives on discovery calls, site visits, demos, and RFP processes.
- Understand client needs: Analyze operational challenges and technical requirements, translating them into tailored solutions using Spare’s platform.
- Deliver impactful demos and Proof of Concepts (POCs): Plan, prepare, and execute customized product demonstrations, simulations, and sandbox exercises that clearly showcase how Spare meets client needs.
- Lead technical responses: Assist in answering and validating technical components of RFPs, prepare for and participate in RFP interviews, and represent Spare as the technical lead in client discussions.
- Develop deep product expertise: Build and maintain a strong technical understanding of Spare’s platform, including its strengths, limitations, and key value drivers.
- Collaborate cross-functionally: Act as a subject matter expert for the Growth and Marketing teams, and contribute to new feature testing and prospect-driven feature requests
- Know the landscape: Develop and maintain an understanding of competitors’ offerings to better position Spare’s solutions during the sales cycle
- Build Rapport: Build strong, trust-based relationships with clients through clear, confident communication and a consistently positive demeanor.
- Stay close to the product: Support 1–2 ongoing client implementations to deepen your product expertise and maintain first-hand understanding of customer needs and product performance.
- Travel to make an impact: Travel approximately 30% of the time to client sites for evaluations, demos, and onsite support.
About you
You have.
- 3+ years of experience as a Sales Engineer or Solutions Engineer within a SaaS environment, ideally in a startup or fast-paced setting
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to build trust and credibility with a wide range of stakeholders, including executives, technical teams, and public-sector decision-makers
- Proven ability to lead complex, high-stakes product demos and presentations in customer-facing environments, including navigating challenging questions and multi-stakeholder dynamics
- Naturally curious and adaptable, with a strong problem-solving mindset and the ability to quickly learn and explain complex systems to a non-complex audience. You’re a great listener who can translate customer needs into tailored solutions

- 3+ years of relevant experience in pre-sales engineering, solutions engineering, customer success, or consulting, including 2-3 years working directly with customers.
- Experience with web technologies such as RESTful APIs, HTTP, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
- Strong presentation skills and confidence presenting to large audiences.
- Ability to build relationships with business and technical stakeholders at all levels.
- Skilled at articulating and documenting both product-specific and high-level technical solutions to solve business problems.
- Experience understanding and mapping commercial problems to technical solutions.
- Background in eCommerce and/or SaaS preferred.
- Digital marketing and/or advertising technology experience preferred.
