We are seeking a full-time Technical Specialist to join our team at our Owen Sound, ON office, with a focus on field surveying, construction layout, data processing, and technical drafting using AutoCAD Civil 3D. The successful candidate will support land development design, including site plans, lot grading plans, natural hazard assessments, environmental compliance, and monitoring surveys and construction layout projects.

Responsibilities may include conducting topographic and construction layout surveys utilizing Total Station and GPS survey techniques including processing field and LiDAR data. Other tasks may include UAV (drone) surveys and generating detailed base plans and surface models to aid in site plans and grading designs.

Experience and proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D would be considered an asset, essential for data processing, creating integrated surfaces and TIN layers to aid in production of alignments, profiles, and other civil design deliverables.

Additionally, the candidate will collaborate with a team to provide day-to-day technical support including but not limited to on-site data collection, data processing, field and site inspections, construction layout & monitoring and additional duties as assigned.

Essential Responsibilities & Duties

  • Conduct topographic, construction layout, and monitoring surveys under the supervision of senior staff, including the use of traditional survey equipment and UAV (drone) technology.
  • Process and manage survey data, LiDAR, and drone imagery to generate surface models, contours, and base mapping suitable for land development design.
  • Support a variety of land development and site servicing projects, including the preparation of site plans, lot grading plans, and natural hazard assessments.
  • Create and maintain survey data and base plan information using AutoCAD Civil 3D, including data processing, replicating base legal plan alignments from known/approved sources.
  • Perform GIS-based spatial analysis and mapping to support environmental compliance, regulatory submissions, and client deliverables when required.
  • Assist in the preparation of reports figures, drawings, and exhibits for internal review, client presentations, and public engagement when required.
  • Ensure project data is organized, documented, and delivered in accordance with company standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate with field services staff, project managers, engineers, and GEI staff to support field and office components of multidisciplinary projects. 

Minimum Qualifications

  • An Ontario ‘Class G’ driver’s license with access to a reliable vehicle is requirement.
  • Completion of a diploma or degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, Geomatics, Civil Engineering Technology, Surveying, or a related field.
  • 2–5 years of relevant experience in land surveying, civil design, or mapping, with a demonstrated ability to deliver accurate and high-quality survey data and base plans.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D, with hands-on experience completing data processing, LiDAR processing, creating integrated surfaces, and TIN networks.
  • Proven proficiency with survey field equipment and data collection procedures (e.g., GPS, total station, data loggers).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suites (Office, Word, Excel, Outlook etc.).
  • Working knowledge of GIS platforms (e.g., ESRI ArcGIS, QGIS) and spatial data integration, including LiDAR and drone (UAV) data and processing techniques.
  • Strong organizational and data management skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects on a continuous basis.
  • Interest in multidisciplinary projects involving land development, environmental monitoring, and regulatory compliance.
  • Physical and environmental requirements for this position are available upon request.

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Professional standing or willing to register in OACETT, GIS Certification Institute or Canadian Institute of Geomatics (C.E.T., C.Tech., GISP, CGS) not required but an asset. 
  • Experience with UAV flight planning, drone data capture, and processing tools (e.g., Pix4D, DroneDeploy, or similar platforms) is considered an asset.
  • Experience with GIS & AutoCAD applications and DWG, DAT file format.  
  • Programming or scripting experience with SQL and Python.

Hull Technical Specialist

Position Summary

As part of the AJISS Engineering team, the primary role of the Hull Technical Specialist, based in Halifax, NS, is to support the AJISS Service Delivery team with the management of defects for the Arctic and Offshore Patrol Vessels (AOPVs) and Joint Support Ships (JSS). The Hull Technical Specialist also supports the AJISS Engineering and Supportability Team with various activities such as development and implementation of Engineering Changes, creation of Deviations & Waivers or survey on board the ships while alongside.

Key Areas of Responsibility

Conduct investigations either on board the ship while alongside or using the Technical Document Package (TDP); Liaise with OEMs, Service Providers and ship staff to support the investigation and resolution of defects;
Develop Job Instruction and Statement of Work (SOW) to support the resolution of defects;
Identify issues within the Technical Document Package (TDP) and propose improvement/corrections;
Support the Service Delivery team with the management of Service Providers conducting work on board the ship; Support the Supportability team with the identification/assessment of alternate parts, obsolescence issues; and various activities such as development and implementation of Engineering Changes, creation of Deviations & Waivers or survey on board the ships while alongside.
Provision of technical advice to enable hull systems and equipment to be correctly operated or maintained;
Develop a good working relationship within Thales and the customer's organization to ensure coordination and rapid resolution of issues;

Minimum Requirements

Possess a minimum of 5 years of demonstrated experience in a marine sector associated with vessel construction, refits or maintenance within the last 10 years;
Strong working knowledge in the maintenance, operation, design and/or troubleshooting of a wide range of marine hull systems, lifting point/appliances, paint and preservation, pipefitting and plumbing, welding methods, machinery systems and ship structure.

Preferred Qualifications

Previous experience working with the Royal Canadian Navy or Canadian Coast Guard;
Familiar with certification requirements including but not limited to Classification Society, SOLAS/IMO, IEEE, CSA, Naval Ship Code, and DND regulations is an asset;
3-year technical program diploma offered by a recognized technical institute or certified to the QL-6B level of military technical training is an asset;
Knowledge of hull structures, repairs and modification to ship’s hulls, inspections, surveys and quality control, and corrosion control;
Other valid certifications (NACE, Non-Destructive Testing, Welding, etc.) is also an asset.

Physical Demands

Mix of office work and work in dockyards and onboard Naval Ships;
Will be required to undertake inspections in machinery spaces of Naval ships involving bending and twisting;

Responsibilities:



  • Oversee end-to-end execution of various customer onboarding projects, ensuring successful implementation and positive technical engagement.
  • Coordinate and communicate with different departments to execute projects effectively.
  • Develop and manage timelines for multiple projects concurrently, navigating conflicting priorities adeptly.
  • Identify customer needs by understanding their business processes and requirements and helping build a custom solution that matches those needs.
  • Collect and manage customer-related documentation necessary for efficient deployment.
  • Leverage a range of tools to streamline different project aspects.
  • Conduct on-site installations at customer locations as required.
  • Adapt to changing responsibilities and priorities. Learning new tools and platforms.
  • Apply analytical thinking to define project tasks and design effective project frameworks.
  • Maintain open lines of communication with stakeholders involved in each project.
  • Provide comprehensive virtual or in-person training to customers on technical aspects.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.



Qualifications:



  • Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in IT, technical project coordination, or a related field.
  • Preferred experience in telecommunications or comparable technical domains.
  • An understanding of networking basics is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Salesforce is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in using Google Workspace or Microsoft Office tools.
  • Solid general technical background or a keen interest in mastering new technologies.
  • Clear and professional English communication is a key part of this position.
  • A valid G-level driver's license.

About The Role

As a Senior IT Technical Specialist, you are the strategic backbone of our technical services team. You will lead complex client engagements, architect enterprise-grade solutions, and act as a senior escalation point for technical issues. This is a client-facing role requiring technical mastery, leadership skills, and business acumen.

  • Acting as the trusted technical advisor for key clients, aligning IT solutions with business objectives.
  • Lead 35 major IT infrastructure projects per year from design to deployment.
  • Architecting and delivering enterprise projects such as cloud migrations, cybersecurity upgrades, SD-WAN rollouts, and hybrid infrastructure designs.
  • Serving as the primary technical lead for escalations from Tier 1 and Tier 2 teams.
  • Reviewing client workflows, integrations, and legacy systems ahead of implementation to assess necessary changes for smooth project execution.
  • Leading client meetings and providing technical insights to create strategic IT roadmaps.
  • Building long-term relationships with C-suite stakeholders and serving as the primary escalation point for advanced technical issues.
  • Expected to manage and advise on technical infrastructure for 510 active client organizations concurrently.
  • Mentoring and training junior and Level 1/2 technical staff to ensure effective knowledge transfer and team growth.
  • Resolving highly complex technical challenges involving virtualization, advanced networking, security, and enterprise system configurations.
  • Performing root cause analysis for critical incidents and implementing long-term remediation and preventative strategies.
  • Designing scalable, resilient IT architectures tailored to client requirements.
  • Driving continuous service improvements by analyzing service metrics and optimizing IT operations.
  • Researching and integrating emerging technologies to provide innovative client solutions.
  • Collaborating with leadership to refine organizational IT policies and procedures.
  • Conducting technical training sessions and providing input on recruitment to identify and nurture future technical leaders.

Qualifications & Skills

  • 8+ years of experience in technical support, infrastructure delivery, or IT consulting.
  • Prior experience in a Managed Service Provider (MSP) environment is required.
  • Strong expertise in:
    • Enterprise networking (Cisco ASA, advanced VPNs, SD-WAN).
    • Virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V, advanced clustering solutions).
    • Advanced Windows Server configurations, Active Directory Federation Services, and hybrid Exchange environments.
    • Cybersecurity tools and frameworks, including SIEM solutions and endpoint protection.
  • Proven ability to design, implement, and manage IT infrastructures at an enterprise level.
  • Ability to handle multiple clients and projects simultaneously in SLA-driven environments.
  • Strong documentation and project scoping capabilities.


Certifications

  • Required: MCSA, CCNA, or equivalent.
  • Preferred: MCSE, CISSP, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Fortinet NSE4+


Leadership Skills

  • Confident in guiding client conversations from technical problem-solving to business alignment.
  • Skilled at managing team dynamics and mentoring junior staff.

Educational Background

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position will act as a business partner between IT and other key business functions, such as: Finance, Accounting, Supply Management, Sales & Marketing and Human Resources. The successful candidate will work as a member of the IT team responsible for application solution & design, and code deployment and promotion in different environments.

Essential Functions & Key Responsibilities:

• Manage 3rd party vendors, opening cases including Microsoft support, SPS/Data Masons, Dynaway and D365/Power BI.

• Must have experience with Power platform (Power BI, Power automates, Power apps, Flow, AI builder).

• Responsible for mapping business processes to specific functions within the MS Dynamics 365/Dataverse applications, administration, configuration and/or development of a specific system.
• Knowledge of the following D365 modules:

  • Finance
  • Inventory
  • Supply Chain
  • Sales & Marketing
  • Human Resource
  • Maintenance work orders (Dynaway)
  • EDI integration (SPS/Data Mason)
  • Production control

• LCS management of resources for the 4 environments.

• Develop consensus with key users on configuration, impact, business process designs.

• Prepare detailed flow charts and diagrams outlining systems capabilities and processes.

• Review current procedures, uncover any issues and make recommendations for improvement to the company business processes.

• Provide training and guidance to team members and end users.

• Follows up on L1, L2 and L3 internal and external tickets/cases.

• Documenting SOP (Standard Operating Procedures) for application system changes, and troubleshooting.

Education/Experience:

• Relevant certification for Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations

• Bachelor’s or master’s in information systems, Information Technology, Computer Science or Engineering, or equivalent.

• Minimum of 3 to 5 years of business system support and resource management. MS Dynamics AX/D365 F&O experience is required.

• Nice to have experience with X+ coding.

• 5+ years of experience working with SSAS, SSRS, SSIS, Data warehousing, data modeling, Power BI.

• Expertise knowledge of Microsoft SQL server, Office tools like Excel.

• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing at all organizational levels.

• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail required, including project management, process flow, requirements/gap analysis, and technical documentation.

• Strong communication skills and ability to work with cross functional teams.
