Levitt-Safety has an exciting opportunity for experienced technicians to join our Vehicle Fire Suppression Systems (VFSS) team in Fort McMurray, AB.
This role offers a highly desirable compressed work schedule of 14 days on and 14 days off, 12-hour shifts with company-paid travel and housing for fly-in/fly-out employees OR a monthly housing allowance for local employees.
About the Role
As a member of our field service team, you will:
- Conduct comprehensive inspections, testing, maintenance, and repairs of vehicle fire suppression systems on a wide range of heavy-duty and off-road equipment at various customer sites.
- Carry out regular and emergency service visits to check and maintain fire extinguishers, emergency lights, alarms, and other fire safety equipment.
- Complete all required service documentation, inspection reports, and work orders in a timely and accurate manner, ensuring proper documentation of deficiencies, corrective actions, and parts used.
- Deliver excellent customer service by proactively communicating service updates, making recommendations for ongoing fire safety improvements, and representing Levitt-Safety with professionalism and technical expertise.
- Support inventory management as needed.
- Support a strong safety culture and service team with regular participation in safety meetings, ensuring adherence to safe work practices, and proactively identifying and addressing hazards.
- Model safe behavior, working closely with the Quality team to uphold service standards and contribute to incident prevention and continuous improvement in safety performance.
Ideal Qualifications
- Previous hands-on experience servicing vehicle fire suppression systems (VFSS) is preferable
- Strong mechanical aptitude with excellent troubleshooting skills & basic electrical knowledge
- Experience working in a mechanical shop or equivalent hands-on role with vehicles or other motorized equipment is a strong asset
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and service manuals
- Prior customer service experience with strong communication skills
- Comfortable using technology such as iPads, cell phones and laptops
- Professional, reliable and safety-focused
- Must successfully pass pre-employment screening, which includes a background check and a drug and alcohol test
- Valid driver's license and clean drivers abstract

Safety Compliance
This is a physically demanding role that requires the ability to:
- Lift and carry up to 50 lbs. unassisted, coupled with good hand/eye coordination and manual dexterity
- Work in restricted spaces such as engine compartments
- Work on heights on large mine equipment using ladders and walkways
- Drive and sit for extended periods of time
- Walk on uneven terrain on customer sites

The Wash Technician is responsible for safe wash/dry operations and inspection of poly hopper cars. The Wash Technician will take day to day work instruction from the Supervisor and work in conjunction with the on site switching provider to complete switching activities.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Knowing and understanding applicable procedures, operating procedures, basic maintenance and escalation requirements.
- Execute daily rounds of the wash equipment and wash bay.
- Clean out, remove excess product in designated area. As well as general housekeeping.
