Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining a working knowledge of the facility, plant processes, equipment and systems in order to perform maintenance effectively with minimum down time under general direction; 
  • Diagnoses of mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic troubles;
  • Install, repair and maintain plant equipment (mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, minor electrical, etc);
  • Suggest continuous improvement ideas for equipment and production;
  • Provide recommendation for proper level of equipment spares and maintain approved level;
  • Preventative maintenance routines;
  • Assist all departments in evaluating issues and making repairs;
  • Expedite the requisitioning of materials needed for various maintenance functions;
  • Works in co-operation with plant personnel and outside contractors when required;
  • Assist in the commissioning of new equipment;
  • Maintains tools, including calibrated tools in proper working condition per ISO requirements;
  • Record all repairs, preventative maintenance functions and inventory usage per ISO requirements;
  • Performs routine general maintenance work and documentation as required;
  • Performs duties as required utilising forklift and crane;
  • Maintains a tidy work environment;
  • Committed to a safe work environment;
  • Performs other related duties as assigned. 

Requirements:

  • High school Diploma or general education degree (GED) 
  • 5 years of experience in general maintenance in a manufacturing environment;
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills in PLC’s, electrical, mechanical,  refrigeration systems  for production machinery and support equipment;
  • Able to demonstrate a strong mechanical aptitude;
  • General knowledge of blueprint reading for equipment;
  • Able to troubleshoot hydraulics, pneumatic and minor electrical issues ;
  • Skilled in root cause analysis and trouble techniques of equipment problems;
  • Welding/ Oxy-Acetylene equipment skills required;
  • Working knowledge of lathe, milling machine, grinder and hand tools; 
  • Able to work in a team environment under minimal supervision;
  • Must have a valid driver’s licence;
  • Good interpersonal skills and a customer service orientation;
  • ISO experience an asset.

Job Description:
Position Summary: This position is responsible for preventative maintenance activities, changeovers, volume conversions, break-down troubleshooting, and improvement projects in a high paced flexible packaging environment. This position will be supporting our night shift 7:00PM to 7:30AM.

Shift: Night, 12 hours continental

Key Responsibilities may include but not limited to the following:
  • Safety first: Understand and adhere to all safety procedures, utilizing appropriate safety equipment and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.
  • Perform all work in accordance with health and safety standards, rules, regulations, and practices of the facility.
  • Read diagrams/schematics and manufacturers maintenance manuals for work procedures.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment's electrical, mechanical, Pneumatic, and hydraulic issues failure or breakdowns.
  • Repair and perform maintenance on high-speed packaging equipment, dismantling and assembling mechanical and electrical equipment, repair, and replacement of defective parts as required.
  • Maintain, repair, and reassemble production equipment: including but not limited to pumps, pasteurizers, valves, pipes, etc.
  • Understand and perform maintenance activities on all support equipment: boiler, air-compressors, condensers, vacuum pumps, water meters, etc.
  • Communicate with various parties on the work performed during shift changeovers.
  • Perform preventative maintenance following standards and schedules as outlined in the PM program. This includes lubrication, adjustment, cleaning, etc.
  • Control downtime by managing and performing routine preventive maintenance and operation techniques.
  • Participate in maintenance improvement projects as required.
  • Create WO's, issue parts needed for the WO and confirmed WO using SAP platform .
  • Maintains daily cleanliness of the Maintenance shop, fabrication shop and parts washing area.
  • Do daily, weekly, and monthly lubrication route for all equipment.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • 2 - 3 years of maintenance specific experience within the food industry.
  • Experience with Tetra Pak equipment and aseptic food processing an asset.
  • Experience with high-speed flexible packaging equipment and retort food processing an asset.
  • Strong problem solving, troubleshooting and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, capable of working in a diverse and multicultural atmosphere.
  • Ability to effectively communicate (both written & verbal).
  • Ability to work in a multi-skilled, rotating shift environment.

Property Maintenance Responsibilities

  • Thorough knowledge of all maintenance systems (pumps, emergency generators, swimming pool, sprinklers, ventilation, boilers, etc.)

  • Coordinating with Property Manager to ensure Scheduling of contractors and staff for maintenance of property and any issues that arise.

  • Conduct daily visual inspection of all mechanical, HVAC and sprinkler systems
  • Special projects and other duties as assigned.

Customer Service Responsibilities

  • Ensure resident issues and service requests are addressed within 24 hours

Fire Safety-Life Safety-Emergency Situation Responsibilities

Cleaning Responsibilities

Exterior Duties

  • Snow and ice removal, salting of all entrances, walkways, and rooftop accesses, and maintenance of snow removal log books

What You Will Do

What Skills You Need

  • An attitude of curiosity. Willing to be mentored and willing to mentor professional skills as applicable to daily tasks.
  • Valid Class "5" driver's license required and able to obtain a driver's abstract.
  • Industrial millwright maintenance work experience
  • Knowledge and experience troubleshooting mechanical issues related to motors, hydraulics, pneumatics, and HVAC are required.
  • Perform lubrication tasks and preventative maintenance tasks on factory assets.
  • Weld, repair and fabricate equipment as needed.
  • General knowledge and some experience troubleshooting electrical issues related to motors, hydraulics, pneumatics, and HVAC are required.
  • A general understanding of PLC automation (Allen Bradly) is an asset.
  • You are willing and able to do the following with or without reasonable accommodation: Climb and/or work in elevated areas, Stand and sit for extended periods, and Work both outdoors and indoors in hot, cold, wet, and dry conditions.

As our innovative business continues to grow rapidly, we are seeking for a full-time Maintenance Technician for our Richmond location.

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, this role performs various skilled mechanical maintenance and repair duties on various types of equipment, including cranes, conveyors, poser industrial vehicles (PIV) and building facilities in accordance with accepted standards, regulations and procedures. Ensures that all equipment is in working order for maximum operating efficiency

Position: Full Time, Permanent

Schedule: Days and weekends, flexible. Shift starting at 4am.

Salary: Starting from $28/hour

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Performs routine audits to ensure conformance to operational and safety requirements and standards.
  • Performs corrective and preventive maintenance activities on systems to provide the continuous performance of HVAC, electricity, gas, life safety, security, and other systems required for operations.
  • Proactively report and request tools, equipment, and supplies required for operations.
  • Prepares records, reports, and other documentation related to work performed in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Performs general trades work in the facility as required.
  • Ensure up-to-date knowledge of operational and safety compliance, regulations and standards.

Requirements

  • Licensed: Refrigeration Operator or 4th Class Engineer, or higher
  • HVAC Experience is an asset
  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner
  • Knows basic computer systems: MS Office, Google Sheets, Docs and Drive, Inventory and Sales System (Canopy)
  • Ability to communicate effectively, helps in creating an inclusive and trust-based culture and leads the team in delivering high customer service.
  • Knowledge of workplace safety, food safety, safe lifting and handling procedures
  • Knowledge of meat and seafood production and warehousing is an asset

Work Schedule: Night shift – Sunday night to Friday morning, 10 PM to 6 AM

Approximately 3 months on the day shift (Monday to Friday, 6 AM – 2 PM)

Ideal Candidate:

Multicrafting professional with experience in the field, including exposure to welding, PLCs, hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical systems. An Electrical License C is mandatory.

Skills and Certifications:

Possession of an electrical license C

College diploma (DEC) in electromechanics, industrial mechanics, or equivalent qualification

Minimum of 3 years of experience in similar roles

Education & Experience (Required):

  • College diploma (DEC) in Electromechanics, Industrial Mechanics, or equivalent training.
  • Valid C License in Electricity (mandatory).
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong commitment to health and safety, with respect for ISO procedures.
  • Availability to work the night shift schedule listed above.
  • Physical ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
  • Comfortable working in a hot and demanding production environment.
  • Good command of French, both spoken and written.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and technical drawings, and apply findings effectively.
  • Strong skills in diagnosing and solving complex issues related to mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and automated control systems.
  • Proficiency in TIG, arc, and stick welding.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
