Position Summary:
My client, a manufacturing company is seeking a skilled Industrial Engineer / Process Improvement professional to drive enhancements across both shop and field operations. This role involves analyzing, designing, and implementing systems and processes that improve efficiency, quality, and productivity. A strong focus will be placed on process improvements, waste reduction, and operational optimization through the use of Lean Six Sigma principles and other continuous improvement tools.
Key Responsibilities:

Mandate
- Deliver a safe and highly optimized gas processing facility design.
Responsibilities
- Support the design, review and execution of process engineering deliverables throughout the facility across all engineering stages, including Feasibility and Process Studies, Conceptual Design, DBM Development, FEED and Detailed Engineering Design.
- Provide expert-level guidance on sour gas separation and processing, acid gas compression, acid gas injection and co-injection, and gas sweetening units.
- Support the design, review, and execution of the gas processing infrastructure Develop and validate process simulations and modeling for gas processing facilities.
- Author and review, critical design documents, including material balances, PFDs, P&IDs, shutdown keys, control narratives and Process Engineering reports in support of gas processing infrastructure as well as other area of the facility as required.
- Verify line sizing, PSV sizing, and the preparation of equipment process data sheets.
- Oversee and participate in P&ID / PHA (HAZOP) reviews and ensure compliance with safety and operational requirements.

- Design, commissioning and/or operational experience of hydrometallurgical processing equipment.
- Have site-based construction and commissioning experience.

JOB SUMMARY:
In this dynamic, fast-paced environment, the Process Engineer is responsible for working with Design Engineers, Lab Technicians, Product Development and Manufacturing teams to provide leadership and technical expertise optimizing manufacturing processes while ensuring process safety, quality, and efficiency. This role is central to maintaining stable production operations, supporting plant floor activities, and continuously improving systems to reduce risk and enhance productivity. Reporting to the Director, Product Development , this role supports the product development team and the production team in a cross functional approach to manage multiple projects across different product lines and markets.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop, evaluate, and refine manufacturing processes to improve throughput, efficiency, and product quality. Implement and maintain standard work documentation.
- Ensure compliance with process safety requirements, including risk assessments, hazard identification, and safe operating procedures. Participate in or lead PHA (Process Hazard Analysis), MOC (Management of Change), and safety audits.
- Drive lean manufacturing and Six Sigma projects focused on process improvements, cost reduction, waste elimination, and quality enhancements.
- Train operators and technicians on new processes, safety procedures, and best practices. Serve as a hands-on resource for day-to-day process troubleshooting and improvements.
- Maintain and improve visual control systems (e.g., visual work instructions, KPIs, safety alerts) to ensure clarity and standardization across the production floor.
- Coordinate the implementation of new product introductions (NPI) and pilot runs. Collaborate with R&D and design engineering teams to transition new designs to production.
- Support internal quality tracking, defect analysis, and corrective actions to maintain high product standards.
- Manage Engineering Change Notice (ECN) updates and ensure seamless integration into existing processes.
- Collaborate with materials, packaging, and project management teams to support operational readiness and efficiency.
- Provide floor-level technical and supervisory support to ensure smooth day-to-day operations.

Education/Training:
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical, industrial, or manufacturing engineering (or related field).
- Formal education or certification in process safety (e.g., OSHA PSM training, NEBOSH Process Safety Management, or equivalent).
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in a process engineering or manufacturing environment.
- Working knowledge of process safety standards, hazard analysis methods, and risk reduction strategies.
- Strong understanding of production processes and quality systems.
Preferred:
- Experience in high-risk or regulated industries (chemical, oil & gas, or advanced manufacturing).
- Proficient in lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and root cause analysis tools.
- Familiarity with ERP systems, data analysis software (Excel, Minitab), and Solid Works.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 45001, or similar standards.
Experience:
- Knowledge of the full product development cycle from brief to production implementation
- Advanced knowledge of the principles, theories, concepts, and practices of project management
- Document control and management experience; solid technical ability in project management computer applications and data bases
- Agile project management experience an asset
- Previous experience in a manufacturing environment an asset
