WHO WE ARE
ONE KIDS PLACE Childrens Treatment Centre provides rehabilitation and related support services for children and youth (up to the age of 19) and their families living in the Districts of Muskoka, Nipissing and Parry Sound. All staff will provide service within an interdisciplinary team environment committed to family-centered practice.
THE OPPORTUNITY

Job type: Permanent, Full Time 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM
Effective September 2024, OKP has begun to roll out an Alternate Hours program at our North Bay site to provide services to our communities outside of standard business working hours (after 4:30 PM). Staff will be expected to participate, which may result in working alternate hours once per month to support this program. Please note that this program may be implemented at our other locations in the future.
POSITION SUMMARY: The Therapy Assistant will work under the supervision of assigned therapists to ensure coordinated delivery of rehabilitation services within an interdisciplinary, family-centered environment. Assistants will be responsible for: implementing therapy programs, completing other tasks as assigned by the therapists, providing training to children, youth and their parents, and ensuring documentation is consistent with agency standards.
JOB DUTIES:
- Seeks clinical direction within the disciplines scope of practice from the assigned therapist.
- Assists therapists by carrying out one-to-one or group activities with children/youth. These activities could include: exercise and mobility programs, rehabilitation therapy, daily living activities and programming.
- Provides education and assistance to children/youth/families in the proper and safe utilization of assistive devices and equipment.
- Works in close collaboration with the therapist to identify the child/youths progress, ensures continuity of care and facilitates child/youths transition.
- Documents client-related activities and workload practices according to Childrens Treatment Centre standards and maintains client confidentiality and privacy.
- Makes recommendations to the therapist who determines the need for other discipline involvement in addressing the needs of the child/youth.
- Participates in the orientation and training of new staff members, placement students and /or volunteers.
- Pursues on-going professional development and growth.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Post-secondary education required. Rehabilitation Assistant Program graduate preferred or post graduate diploma in the health human services sector.
- 2 years related work experience within a pediatric/health care setting with children and youth with special needs an asset
- Working knowledge of community resources and supports within the Districts of Nipissing, Muskoka and Parry Sound
- Ability to work within an interdisciplinary team environment under the guidance and/or direction of assigned therapists
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills/Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Valid Ontario drivers license, proof of insurance and reliable vehicle
- Computer competency and adaptable in the use of computer software for the purpose of assessments, documentation, programming and communication.
- Bilingual (English/French) is an asset
- Proof of COVID Vaccinations as required by the sector

- Recherche une direction clinique dans le cadre de la pratique de la discipline auprs du thrapeute assign.
- Assiste les thrapeutes en ralisant des activits individuelles ou de groupe avec les enfants/adolescents. Ces activits pourraient inclure : des programmes d'exercice et de mobilit, une thrapie de radaptation, des activits et des programmes de la vie quotidienne.
- Fournit une ducation et une assistance aux enfants/jeunes/familles dans l'utilisation approprie et scuritaire des appareils et quipements fonctionnels.
- Travaille en troite collaboration avec le thrapeute pour identifier les progrs de l'enfant/adolescent, assurer la continuit des soins et faciliter la transition de l'enfant/adolescent.

QUALIFICATIONS :
- Diplme dassistant en physiothrapie ou en ergothrapie, programme dassistant en rhabilitation, ou autre diplme quivalent en soins de sant humaine

About the Role
CASA Mental Health Classrooms are CASA’s new model for school-based mental health service. The program addresses the need for services closer to students by bridging a child’s mental health and school needs, through a coordinated approach by a mental health team and a teacher. CASA Mental Health Classrooms are delivered in partnership with the Government of Alberta, community partners and school divisions.
The Therapy Support Assistant will:
- Assist in the development and implementation of individual treatment plans for children or adolescents with internalizing and externalizing difficulties, using a variety of treatment approaches with a heavy emphasis on effective, evidence-based cognitive and behavioural principles.
- Provide daily psycho-education sessions to the classroom students using the Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) curriculum.
- Participate in patient-related meetings such as program progress reviews and discharge meetings as required.
- Implement therapeutic models of individual and group therapy.
- Participate in the case management of assigned caseload.
- Conduct phone calls on behalf of clinicians (i.e. to schools and parents) to gather information or explain strategies to assist the patient to be successful in school and at home.
- Assist in group facilitation, including co-facilitation or participation, set up and take down, observation and note-taking as required.
- Attend staff planning sessions, patient case conferences and patient meetings to provide information.
- Complete relevant electronic medical record documentation.
- Collaborate with teams to ensure treatment plans and reports are complete.
- Use Therapeutic Crisis Intervention as needed.
Qualifications
- Degree in social work, child and youth care, early childhood education or a related discipline such as psychology or social sciences.
- Related experience in an educational or mental health setting.
- Equivalencies of education and experience may be considered.
- Experience with mood concerns, learning disabilities, executive dysfunction and/or personality disorder traits is preferred.
- A satisfactory Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Search and Child Intervention Check. This would be the financial responsibility of the successful candidate.
- Ability to pass and maintain Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) certification (training provided by CASA) or Supporting Individuals through Valued Attachments (SIVA) training, as well as physical ability to perform all interventions.
- Valid drivers license and vehicle as travel is required for this position.

Summary :
The school-based Occupational Therapist provides services that help students to achieve their highest possible level of independent functioning within the school, home and community. These services include screening, assessment, consultation, program planning, treatment, administration, education and research. - Prioritize and screen referrals in collaboration with the School Based team.
- Conduct assessments of students' physical abilities using standardized and non-standardized tools in various locations.
- Assist in the development of IEP Plans and develop goals for occupational therapy services in consultation with the family and school-based team, based on the assessment results.
- Provide goal-oriented treatment services to individuals or groups, monitoring progress and revising strategies as needed.
- Provide instruction and guidance to school staff, families, and caregivers on specialized equipment and recommendations.
- Recommend, prescribe, and modify specialized equipment and provide therapy services as needed.
- Coordinate therapies and services with other community providers and participate in assessment, planning, and transition planning.
- Maintain records and produce reports, ensuring that families and relevant individuals receive necessary information.
- Provide training to school staff, families, caregivers, and other service providers.
Education and Experience
- Bachelors degree in occupational therapy; registration with the College of Health and Care Professionals of British Columbia.
- A minimum of One (1) year pediatric clinical experience, including experience in a community based early intervention program or school aged therapy program.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- The school-based Occupational Therapist understands and can work effectively with children and their families to provide therapy and consultation services.

Here is what you will need to be successful:
- Completed degree in ABA/SLP/OT or a related field or pursuing education in these fields
- At least 1 year experience implementing ABA, SLPA, or OTA treatments with children with autism and other developmental disabilities.
- Education and demonstrated ability in ethical and professional practice.
- Experience working with children and youth with complex needs and/or developmental disabilities will be considered an asset.
- Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening.
- Experience working with clients who have a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder or other developmental disabilities.

We are looking for 2 - full time Therapy Assistant (Occupational Therapy/Physiotherapy Assistant) to join our Paeds team. This OTA/PTA can bring their therapy services skills to our GTA.
Our Therapy Assistant will be working mainly under highly skilled and trained Registered PTs and some OTs to provide school based rehab services throughout GTA schools.
What you will be doing:
- You will be working with our physiotherapy and occupational therapy team under the supervision of a Registered PTs and OTs to implement intervention programming.
- Provide health teaching, exercise programs, fine motor and sensory programming with clients in-person and virtually.
Skills needed for success:
- Recent graduates from a recognized OTA/PTA college program or kinesiology is an asset.
- A proven track record of being able to work independently, as well as comfortable working in a team.
- Building relationships with clients, families/ caregivers and school teams.
- Must have a valid Driver’s License and the use of a reliable vehicle.

Position Summary:

Qualifications:
