NOTICE: TOURISM KINGSTON OPENS APPLICATIONS FOR A NEW BOARD MEMBER

Are you a strategic thinker who wants to positively impact one of Kingstons major economic drivers? Applications for a three-year position on the Tourism Kingston Board of Directors are now being accepted. Tourism Kingston seeks to appoint one board member to help elevate and advance the organizations strategic objectives. Tourism Kingston is seeking an individual with experience in travel trade, sport and wellness, and/or attractions.

Tourism Kingstons vision is to excel in creating, promoting, and growing opportunities for Kingston, Ontario to be a premier destination for individuals, groups, and businesses; to leverage tourism as a key driver of a healthy economy of Kingston; and to champion Kingston as a destination for local, regional, national, and international tourism.

The members of the Board of Directors are the fiduciaries who guide the organizations future by adopting sound, ethical, and legal governance, and financial management policies. In addition, the board ensures that the para-municipal organization has adequate resources to advance its vision. Working in collaboration with key partners such as the City of Kingston, Kingston Economic Development Corporation, Kingston Accommodation Partners, RTO 9, and the Downtown Kingston! BIA, and others is essential to Tourism Kingstons mandate and impact.

  • Package, stock and rotate display counters ensuring that product is of high quality and finessed with correct signage.
  • Keep the work, storage and store areas clean and safe at all times by performing general “housekeeping” as required, including sweeping, mopping and dusting.  
  • Comply with all corporate policies, especially as they relate to Health and Safety, Food Safety and equipment use.
  • Perform designated opening and closing procedures and offer assistance to other team members as requested.
  • May be requested to undertake other related duties on a periodic basis.
Qualifications

  • Superior customer service, organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in a retail environment or an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered an asset.
  • Ability to work with little supervision with a high standard for quality, attention to detail and cleanliness.
  • Ability to work in a team environment with clear and effective communication style, both written and oral.
  • Flexible schedule, including weekends, evenings and holidays.
  • Fluency in English and French shall be considered an asset.

Work & Sensory Environment:

  • Required to stand for long periods of time during shift.
  • Required to lift, carry or handle heavy objects.
  • Required to adapt to temperature changes on occasion (working on the retail floor as well as in coolers and freezers).
