What is the opportunity?

Principal, Senior Associates & Associates (P & A) fulfil key leadership roles at Entuitive. The degree to which an individual contributes to, leads, or proactively drives a portion of the business defines the role of a Leader at Entuitive.

As a Leader in Transportation, you will have an aptitude for business development and maintaining, as well as building new client relationships. The successful individual is expected to be an independent leader and entrepreneurial, a subject matter expert of transportation structures, bridge structures, and/or temporary works required for construction. Experience with the design of temporary components i.e., shoring and construction sequencing, to facilitate the construction of permanent structures on transportation related projects is considered an asset.

All leaders act as subject matter experts in engineering technologies, methods, and practices by keeping current with emerging trends and market shifts in order to recommend and implement best practices and client-centric solutions. This role will typically oversee and manage a team either on a project or within a department by taking a hands-on approach and by providing guidance to ensure a high level of project delivery and service. The role will actively promote Entuitive services across all networks within the industry and communities in which we work. The Leader will ensure all work is carried out in full support of our Vision, Mission, Values and One Company culture.

What will you do?

Business Development & Client Relations

  • Actively leverage existing client relationships and develop new client relationships, to grow the project portfolio.
  • Actively coordinate with other individuals and groups in Entuitive for marketing and business development efforts, cross selling between disciplines, work sharing, sharing of expertise, development of technical standards etc.
  • Lead as the pursuit champion, providing creative and technical input into proposal development and working closely with the marketing and proposal team to clearly demonstrate Entuitive’s capabilities.
  • Maintain existing client relations by ensuring issues are resolved in a timely manner and services offered exceed our clients’ expectations in terms of quality.
  • Expand and strengthen Entuitive’s brand and profile by participating in industry related committees, events, programs and presentations at conferences and events. Prepare and execute presentations at applicable events and trade shows.

Technical Delivery

  • Provides technical expertise to other engineers ensuring a high level of engineering by conducting technical reviews and instilling adherence to Quality Assurance through established standards, guidelines, and best practices.
  • Engage and implement Quality Control measures and activities supporting a continuous improvement mind set and a commitment to delivering quality work.
  • Investigate and promote the use of advanced methods, techniques, technology, or processes within project teams and throughout the firm.
  • Delivers designs as required and oversees mark-ups and the coordination of specifications, complying with relevant codes and standards.
  • Responsible for signing and sealing drawings as needed ensuring a high level of professional integrity and a commitment to high quality standards.

Leadership & Mentoring

  • Participates in corporate leadership by contributing to the structural engineering service strategy and internal committees (Technical, BD + Marketing, Production Management, quality control (QC), etc.)
  • Responsible for developing staff through mentoring and providing ongoing feedback along with conducting the annual review process to grow the future leaders of the firm.
  • Provides day-to-day guidance to teams ensuring a collaborative environment where knowledge is shared, and creative solutions are supported.
  • Foster ‘One Company’ approach by actively collaborating with discipline leaders across services, sectors, and regions.

Project Management

  • Responsible for effective project management including managing project budgets and schedules using appropriate project control methods and resourcing plans to meet the needs of project deliverables.
  • Fulfill the role of a project engineer or project principal on multiple projects depending on the size and complexity of the project
  • As the Project Principal, lead as Prime Consultant, Design Manager, or Discipline Project Manager, depending on the procurement model, retaining accountability for the performance of the Entuitive team throughout project delivery.
  • Responsible for the review, negotiation, and adherence of the projects contract terms in collaboration with the Project Executive and Director of Operations.
  • Responsible for effective project management including managing project budgets and schedules using appropriate project control methods and resourcing plans to meet the needs of project deliverables.
  • Active involvement in bid support of contractors including quantity calculations, cost estimating, construction sequencing, and scheduling.
  • Review and optimization of project and construction schedules.
  • Design and construction administration coordination for multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Responsible for client correspondence and communication including fee letters and status reports, ensuring the client and stakeholders are kept abreast of issues and resolutions are timely and well managed.
  • Ensuring client requirements are monitored and satisfied throughout the project lifecycle.

Requirements

What do you need to succeed?

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in civil engineering specializing in structural/construction engineering.
  • A minimum of 10 years’ progressive experience in delivering transportation or heavy civil design and construction projects.
  • P.Eng. and licensed to practice in British Columbia, licenses in other locations are considered an asset.
  • Registered as a Struct. Eng., or actively working towards certification is considered an asset
  • Knowledgeable of local market conditions, emerging trends, and opportunities.
  • Strong business acumen, contract negotiation skills, and the ability to exercise sound judgment.
  • Track record of business development and bringing in new client relationships while leveraging existing accounts.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and the ability to manage complex situations with multiple stakeholders utilizing conflict resolution skills.
  • Strong project management skills with ability to manage scope, schedule, and budget within a large project team.
  • Strong interpersonal and team management skills with evidence of mentorship and team development.
  • Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Proven client service capability along with the experience to effectively manage multiple teams simultaneously.
  • The ability to effectively work remotely with teams of people who may not be at your location.
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment while juggling competing priorities.
  • Available for occasional travel to other Entuitive offices in Canada, and the United States.

The range for this position is between $105,000 to $180,000 annually and based upon experience, qualifications, location, and education.
