    • Plan and execute comprehensive user research activities, including interviews, usability testing, surveys, and contextual inquiries, directly engaging with a diverse range of Ouster customers and internal stakeholders.
    • Develop user personas, journey maps, and empathy maps to thoroughly understand user needs, motivations, and pain points.

  • Mockups Generation & Documentation:
    • Create detailed wireframes, mockups, user flows, and interactive prototypes to illustrate proposed design solutions and user interactions.
    • Translate research findings and workflow analyses into clear, concise, and actionable user stories and UI/UX requirements for development teams.
    • Document user interface specifications, including layout, navigation, interaction patterns, and visual design elements, adhering to our design system.
    • Prioritize features and enhancements based on user impact and business value.
  • Design & Best Practices:
    • Apply industry best practices in UI/UX design, human-computer interaction (HCI), and usability principles to all design recommendations and requirements.
    • Stay ahead of emerging UI/UX trends, tools, and technologies, advocating for their strategic adoption where appropriate.
    • Contribute to the evolution and consistency of Ouster's design system and component library.
  • Collaboration & Communication:
    • Act as a strong advocate for the user throughout the product development lifecycle.
    • Present research findings, design concepts, and requirements to cross-functional teams (engineering, product, sales, FAEs) and gather constructive feedback.
    • Facilitate workshops and design sprints to foster collaborative problem-solving.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Interaction Design, Cognitive Science, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of professional experience as a UI/UX Engineer, UX Researcher, or Product Designer, with a strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in user research, workflow analysis, and requirements generation for complex software applications.
  • Proven experience in conducting qualitative and quantitative user research methods (user interviews, usability testing, surveys, A/B testing).
  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex user needs and business requirements into clear, actionable UI/UX specifications and design artifacts (wireframes, prototypes, user flows).
  • Proficiency with leading design and prototyping tools (Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, or similar).
  • Strong understanding of interaction design principles, usability heuristics, and information architecture.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate design decisions and research findings effectively to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Self-motivated, highly organized, and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good understanding of front-end development technologies (React / Angular. HTML, CSS, JavaScript) to better communicate with engineers.

Nice to Have:

  • Familiarity with lidar technology, 3D data visualization, or geospatial applications.
