Acara is looking for a Vehicle Technician with our client in Eglinton, ON.
Vehicle Technician
Pay Rate: $28/hr.
Shift: Day/Afternoon/Night
Duration: Temp - start as a 3-month assignment and then will be renewed on a month-to-month basis
Your future role
Take on a new challenge and apply your technical expertise in a new cutting-edge field.
You'll provide field support for maintenance, repairs, and/or operation of vehicles. Day-to-day, you'll work closely with teams across the business (primarily subcontractors and the project team), ensuring all information, equipment, and parts are available and prepared for efficient execution, and much more.
You'll specifically take care of troubleshooting equipment and operating portable test equipment, testing devices, and special tools for the execution of support activities, while ensuring and respecting the EHS rules.
We'll look to you for:
- Replacement of failed parts or equipment, test, operation, and maintenance of fleet
- Maintenance activities on the vehicle
- Performing preliminary troubleshooting
- Reporting any damage or shortage of parts/tools
- Designing and setting up test/investigation methods as well as reporting test results to engineering and/or supplier to improve design/product quality

Required Qualifications:
- Completed schooling for either 310S or 310T
- Registered 310S or 310T Apprentice, or eligible to register as 310S or 310T Apprentice with GDLS-C as sponsor (in-class hours completed)
- Proficient communication, organization and prioritization skills
- Experience working with teams and/or customers
- Must be able to work swing shift
- Must be able to work in confined spaces, and perform physical tasks – i.e. lifting, climbing
- Must be able to meet Anthropometrical Size Restrictions for confined spaces

Physical Demands Description:
Typical postures may include standing, sitting, squatting, kneeling, crouching, bending, lying down and reaching at working heights ranging from below floor level to overhead. Tasks required on the interior of the vehicle will require working in a vertical space of 105 to 135 cm and may involve sitting, crawling, crouching, stooping, bending, twisting, kneeling and/or lying down to access some areas, as some tasks require working in areas with space constraints. The worker may also be required to lay on a creeper to complete work under the vehicle. Vertical clearance under the vehicle is approximately 65 cm.
Sustainment ship floor employees are required to climb on/off vehicles, which may include climbing through roof hatches, rear openings, and/or the driver’s hatch. It is common for Assemblers/FSRs to complete many assembly tasks in the same area of the vehicle while maintaining static or similar postures for a period of time.

About Us:
Fleet Works is a repair and paint facility specializing in fleet vehicles, commercial vehicles and specialized equipment. We offer collision repair, autobody, refinishing, mechanical services, frame, suspension, alignment, and other repair and installation services to our business customers in the Southern Alberta area.
Duties Include:
- Completion of repair assignments following company guidelines and supplier procedures to meet our customer specifications.
- Disassembly, inspection and identification of repairs needed, repairing units in preparation for paint, reassembly, final inspection, adjustments, etc.
- Be organized and responsible for the proper completion of repairs as needed.
- Make a conscious effort to complete work according to the timelines set out which may include the need to work overtime.
- Maintain a good work attitude and cooperate with managers and fellow employees in a positive spirit of teamwork.

Education, Skills, and Experience Requirements:
- Prior experience working with commercial vehicles is an asset.

Bemac Collision Group is a group of automotive repair locations across Ottawa and the surrounding areas. We are looking for an experienced Body Repair Technician to join our team. The role of an Auto Body Technician is to return a damaged vehicle to its original condition following a collision.
- Review damage report and estimates of repair cost and plan work to be performed
- Thoroughly examine collision damage (Review the complete vehicle exterior body parts, check all power accessories (door locks/windows/mirrors are operational) check that the dash panel has no warning lights on. Identify any prior damages overlooked on the QA checklist/ or related on the supplemental damage sheet.)
- Performing structural and complete body repairs : Repair and replace front end components, body components, doors and frame and underbody components. (Assess, Repair or Replace interior and exterior parts, electrical components, and vehicle accessories, doors and frame and underbody components)
- Straighten bent frames using frame and underbody pulling and anchoring equipment, Hammer out dents, buckles and other defects using blocks and hammers.
- Fully dismantle the complete vehicle damaged areas including the blend panel parts in order to identify all hidden damages as early in the repair cycle as possible. For example remove damaged fenders, panels and grills using wrenches and cutting torch and bolt or weld replacement parts into place, repair or replace damaged windows, windshields and sunroof
- Ability to file, grind and sand repaired surfaces, using power tools and hand tools
- Mask and tape auto body surfaces in preparation for painting, apply primers and repaint surfaces.
- Operate soldering equipment or use plastic filler to fill holes, dents and seams
- Restore vehicle to factory specification ( Return the vehicle back to factory/OEM specifications)
- Inspect repaired vehicles and test drive vehicles for proper handling
- Technician must be able to read and understand the estimates.
- Capable of reading and comprehending automotive repair procedures.
- Able to work with a variety of metals and plastics, as well as glass, electrical, and mechanical parts.
- Experience using frame and measuring equipment.
- Experience with disassembly and reassembly of vehicles
- Ability and willingness to follow standardized production processes.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
- Auto Body Repair and refinishing experience - 3+ years required
- Auto Body Collision and Damage Repairer (310B) Red Seal License (310Q) (Preferred but not a must) or in a registered apprenticeship program.
- Technicians with I-Car and OEM certifications are favorable.
