Job duties:
- Identify and following up new business leads - ensuring enquiries are logged and responded to, including organizing site and client visits.

- Propose appropriate monitoring solutions for dewatering, unwater, and bypass pumping projects,
- Propose, plan, contract, and supervise subcontracted site investigation work.
- Act as the key point of contact for clients throughout the design and tender process.
- Develop and implement strategies for following up quotations, maintaining contact with the client and tracking the progress of technical and commercial proposals.
- Negotiate contracts, terms and conditions, methodologies, attendances and change orders.
- Review costs and sales performance and present data at management and sales meetings.
- To be responsible for own health and safety and that of colleagues in accordance with current construction guidance and relevant national legislation for our activities.

As a Senior Water Resources Engineer / Project Manager, you will join our Guelph, Ontario office as part of our Eastern Engineering team. The successful applicant will lead a variety of large and small-scale infrastructure projects including Master Plans, Environmental Assessments, feasibility studies, preliminary and detailed design, and construction, that span multiple disciplines across Matrix. Our Water Resources & Climate Change Department has an opportunity for an Intermediate Water Resources Engineer to bring their expertise and enthusiasm to our company. In this dynamic role, youll contribute to solving critical water resources and stormwater management challenges. Whether youre assisting with flood and erosion studies, sewer system analysis, or supporting the development of stormwater management solutions, your work will help create sustainable and resilient communitiesboth here in Canada and globally.

You excel in both independent work and collaborative team settings. You have a solid background in hydrologic and hydraulic modeling and are eager to take on increasing project responsibilities while continuing to develop your technical expertise.

Your key responsibilities:
- Support water resources and stormwater management projects, including flood studies, hydraulic structure assessments and sizing, concept design development, stormwater separation and master planning, and climate change assessments;
- Conduct hydrologic and hydraulic modeling for urban infrastructure (1D, dual drainage, 1D-2D), transportation drainage systems, and floodplain mapping, among others;
- Assist in the development of stormwater management strategies to mitigate flooding, protect the environment, and address climate resilience;
- Prepare project deliverables, including models/designs, calculations, opinion of probable cost;
- Manage projects or oversee technical teams to keep projects on schedule and budget;
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality solutions that meet client and regulatory requirements; and
- Engage in professional development and contribute to the mentorship of junior team members while growing your own expertise.
Your capabilities & credentials:
- Undergraduate Degree in Civil, Water Resources, Environmental, or Coastal Engineering (equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered);
- 5+ years of relevant experience in water resources or stormwater management field;
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Canada;
- Experience supporting projects as a technical contributor, with a desire to develop project management and client relationship skills;
- Proficiency with hydrologic and hydraulic modeling tools, such as PCSWMM, HEC-RAS, or equivalent software; and
- A collaborative mindset with a commitment to professional growth and continuous learning.
Additional skills and experience that will make you stand out:
- Experience in technical oversight and/or mentorship of junior engineers would be considered a strong asset;
- Experience in Atlantic Canada would be considered a strong asset; and
- Background in engineering consulting, particularly in water resource and stormwater management projects would be considered a strong asset.
